I just thought of why killing the Hydra is bad.So Hydra's eat somthig in the marsh. If the Hydra doesn't eat it,it will over populate. And cats usually behead real mice.Lenny just might be being wierd.
HCBAILY theres no need to worry my cat also like running water like sinks they r just fascinated and intrested and curios about water just falling or going around in circles or whatever
When I lived in the country, I woke up one morning to a dead mouse in my kitty, Feria's water dish... I thought she had attempted to drown it. I'm pretty sure she killed it before she put it in there though. Since then, I make jokes about her drowning things in her water dish, because she's a vicious kitty :) She killed at least 3 mice that I know about when I lived in the country... I stopped her from killing 1.
About Lenny, I know that cats who put toys in their water dish do it to keep them "safe" or "hidden".
As to why Lenny's attacking the faucet, you've got me. I know that cat's will drink preferrably out of the faucet than the water dish because it's "cleaner", but attacking it . . . you got yourself a pretty strange kitty there Mr. Bailly.
To Lenny, the movement of the water in the dish or the water coming out of the faucet probably creates shadows that remind him of fish, since most of the time you only see the shadowy movement of the fish in the water. He puts his hand into the water and gets confused that there is no fish, and then sees more movement that looks like fish so he assumes that he just did not catch the fish, so he'll continue to paw the water at parts that look like movement until he just gives up. I might be wrong
The responses about your cat trying to "clean" its' prey by putting it in its' water dish are correct. I have two cats, one of them doesn't even play with toys...the other one plays with them constantly, and also places them in the water bowl. Maybe some cats are more instinctual than others?
In regards to rpg characters and swimming, it seems that they either can't swim or can swim forever without having to worry about running out of air. Also, about your cat, yeah, thats normal.
Cats are sadistic. My cats would catch locusts and just hold them in their mouths till the cat gets bored or bat at an injured mouse for hours.
I remember once when we had mice all three of my cats chased this young mouse all around the house. They all had opportunities to kill it but they just played with it and played... It fought back. It was weird seeing a mouse jumping at and attacking a cat and the cat was surprised as well. Even after it was dead they found it amusing.
Sounds normal to me, My sister has a cat that drinks from the toilet, probably cause she never fills up the water bowl. I once had a cat that would lay in the shower, sink, or tub after we stopped using it.
I never liked how you had to go back and find that fisherman. How are you supposed to know to do that? I don't think the game ever gives any hints that you have to go talk to that fisherman, does it?
I always just went straight to Mount Pyre; it's really not worth it to go to the Water Dragon Isle anyways. It's entirely optional, and the small benefit isn't worth the time you put into it.
Don't worry about the water thing, my cats have similar habits and they are fine. Except mine bring frogs in all the time and I have to rescue them from said cat.
Well, I recently heard of Kangaroos in Australia leading dogs to water in self defense to drown them by holding them under water. It wouldn't surprise me to see a predator like a cat doing something similar with "prey"
Maybe move the fountain out of the cats' reach and get them more toys, like a fishing rod shaped one.
It IS a great game, but i don't think HC could make too much jokes of it, i've played it allll the way through it.... it's.... probably more sad than fun, and fun = the thing HC wants to give.
I'm no cat expert but I believe cats dislike running water (cats are less 'afraid' of still water) so Lenny may just be trying to stop it from flowing because of that.
I don't know really it's just something I saw on (I think) the Discovery Channel once where this person showed how to give a cat a bath using three buckets of water (1 or 2 soapy) instead of running water from a faucet. It's been a while since I saw it.
I do know that my brother's cat really freaked out when he tried to wash it under a faucet.
Don't ask, I don't recall why he tried either, but he tries things like that. I think it had something to do with something in her fur.
well, we don't have that cool water thing you got, but regardless everytime we put a water bowl down for them (2 cats, almost a year old, inside cats 1 male 1 female) the female one alwayys knocks it around and knocks it over, spills it, etc. We have to put her by a sink, take a cup of water, and dribble it from above and she drinks it in the air. Also we got those mice toys that make noise when you shake them, our male cat is obsessed with it, like, really bad.
I know most of my cats have had a fondness for running water, but I don't know about it opposed to still water. My sister had a cat with a morbid fascination for water, who would walk along the lip of the bathtub whenever it was in use or immediately after, circling it, peering down curiously (licking the residual drops, etc). Until one day when she slipped off the faucet & fell in. Neither of us liked the outcome much...I don't much care for baths over showers anymore come to think of it.
@HCBailly Well there's an reason why cats hate water, is that they were'nt pre-exposed to water when they're as kittens, when they're pre-exposed 2 water as kittens then they are'nt afraid to water at all when they grows up as cats.
@HCBailly Different breeds call for different behaviors. My cat.(She's a Manx) hates the sound of water from a tap. But she is perfectly fine with moving water...
The dwarves are contradicting themselves here. They're like "OMG NOES WE GOTTA SAVE TEH ENVIRUNMINT FRUM TOSE STOOPID HOOMUNS!!!!11" and here they're practically destroying it by killing off the fairies.
It actually sounds like Lenny is a problem-solver. He sounds a lot like my cat, Reilly. You should try buying a laser pointer and using that to let him blow off steam.
your cat has grown forgetful hcbaily. it carries the toy around, and then goes for water forgetting that its carrying the toy. oops drops the toy in the water, but its a cat: it cant just stick its face into the water to get it. so what does it do? it tries to stop the water, so it can get the toy again.
Hey, HC Bailey: About your cat, I'd only recommend placing some kind of scent that cats don't like around the fountain, such as garlic or citrus. Citrus is probably more appealing in the house, though. We're trying that with some wooden objects outside that the local cats are trying to turn into scratching posts! ;p
Islands don't sink no matter how much water there is on them. At least, not naturally occurring islands. If there's land at a certain point there's usually land all the way down. Ground isn't good for buoyancy though, so if the island were actually floating on something THEN the water no top could be a problem.
If it's any consolation, my dog's also pretty weird and acts like a cat sometimes. She loves to jump on the back of the coach and lay there. She also repeatedly drowns blankets/food/toys in her water dish, so I dunno if that's a dog or cat thing. :P Of course, she also once stared at a bottle of grape juice and started barking uncontrollably at it, so I think she's just a bit strange overall..
HCBailly, have you noticed that whenever you LP a game where the characters stats/abilities are randomised you seem to always end up with one character that defies the norm, often lagging behind what it normally would only to learn the really useful and rare things later on?
About the cat: There is nothing to worry about. The cat is not going crazy. Odd behavior, as I have seen, is normal for a cat. One of my cats likes to use the kitchen sink to take a mini shower!
I've heard of cats who take their toys to their meal, especially the toys they treat as if they were their kitten. It could be that it's in that way, and not the violent/drown~y way.. :p Not sure about the attacking water, but I know that Yukke(cat on Youtube) attacks a humdifier's steam vent even when it's off...so it's probably normal.
Haha, another cliffhanger...at least it's mildly mild. An upcoming hidden cutscene sounds interesting..
I don't know anything about your cats other than what you said in this vid, but there's nothing to be worried about. Cats can go through phases of eccentric behavior. My own cat, now an old fart, used to be FACINATED by water as a kitten. All someone had to do was turn any faucet in the house on and she would come running to stick her paws in it (sometimes even into the shower).
Heck, but my cats with occasionally chase their own tails, and my old lady acts more human than cat most days.
Don't worry too much about kitty. I've got one who likes to sit in the sink and play with dripping water. It sounds like he's bored. That's not saying you don't keep him entertained, but cats are freaks, and are quite picky as well. If they go too long with the same toy, they may grow bored with it and choose something new. ....HC, I'm sorry, but you need to get rid of that bead mouse. A cat can choke on the beads if it rips open the mouse.
By the way, carrying the mouse in the mouth, normal activity. Drowning the mouse, not so much.

My cat rips toilet paper out of the plastic wrappers and plays with them. If I try to take them away, she'll grawl and not let them go.

Same can be said about Tidus from FF10, or Sora from Kingdom Hearts.

ah,thats different,he meant NON-free world games.a free world game where you cant swim would be crap :P
kasanu62 2 years ago
well would you consider MMO's like WoW and GW free world games? you can swim in WoW, but can barrely do anything like swimming and jumping in GW.
natranr 2 years ago
i was really only thinking of single player free world games, like fallout 3 and oblivion.

They can't swim UNLESS they have to. Also, this doesn't apply to western RPGs.

In all older RPGs the characters could not swim, or were never shown with the ability.
