rather presumptuous to speculate on the souls of the models based on the pose, expression, or colors chosen by the artist. This is Picasso's reality, which isn't in fact reality (or it would be boring). I'm pretty sure he painted parts of the Rose and Blue series simultaneously. He didn't just get depressed by academia and then discover cad red. La Vie is my favorite, finally back at the CMA, yay

Great Post, have been searching for the combination of these Two Periods. They are my most Favourite of his works, especially The Blue Period - Lost Souls most of them.
