I love Black Sabbath, but stop comparing Pentagram with them. Sabbath has been a big influence in Doom Metal, but they haven't played that style. Pentagram, at the 80s, became the most important band in that metal subgenre. They are the Kings of Doom. And I prefer Pentagram that Sabbath (only an opinion).
I've been so hooked on this album and 'day of reckoning', I love this stuff for the same reasons I like sabbath, just good straight ahead metal or whatever people categorize it as, I just like it cause it's simple and effective I guess.

Just saw these guys in Rochester New York on 8-20. They were ferocious live. Even though Bobby is older now he still kicked ass and his voice sounded great. I got a picture with victor griffin and got one of his picks during the show. Awesome. Pentagram RULES!!!

Kickass. 70's style metal is all about cool riffing and whatever it is they used to do with vocal recordings back then, it's like there's no reverb and it's not overproduced like they did with hair metal in the 80s. The whole sound is a lot tighter. Love it. In the 90s Alice and Chains brought it back, but the sound was a lot looser and lazier than in the old days.
@butterknucklez No argument here, Alice in Chains rocks. But they had a distinctively different approach to heavy riff rock than 70s bands like Pentagram or Sabbath did, especially with the grungy-sounding vocals of Layne Staley. Very much a post-80s sound. And you're right, they were among the best. A lot of early 90s grunge was no-talent garbage, but AIC was the real deal.
Always find myself listening to Pentagram, i listen to a wide variety of metal, but something about doom metal that keeps bringing me back... *begins reminicing*

Just saw these guys in Rochester New York on 8-20. They were ferocious live. Even though Bobby is older now he still kicked ass and his voice sounded great. I got a picture with victor griffin and got one of his picks during the show. Awesome. Pentagram RULES!!!

Kickass. 70's style metal is all about cool riffing and whatever it is they used to do with vocal recordings back then, it's like there's no reverb and it's not overproduced like they did with hair metal in the 80s. The whole sound is a lot tighter. Love it. In the 90s Alice and Chains brought it back, but the sound was a lot looser and lazier than in the old days.

@butterknucklez No argument here, Alice in Chains rocks. But they had a distinctively different approach to heavy riff rock than 70s bands like Pentagram or Sabbath did, especially with the grungy-sounding vocals of Layne Staley. Very much a post-80s sound. And you're right, they were among the best. A lot of early 90s grunge was no-talent garbage, but AIC was the real deal.
