Thanks for uploading. As a girl I watched many "westerns" with my father (who isn't alive any more) and will remember especially this melody for EVER.
@Wahian1 Yes, having listened to them back to back it seems that the composer of The magnificent Seven theme starts ok but the theme for The Big Country from two years earlier is in the back of his mind and kinda takes over.....
@haggidubious well this flick wasn't as good as the wild bunch or the good the bad and the ugly but yeah the flicks out of hollywood have been mediocre these past few years with very few exceptions.
@MrDavearama i was saying the movies this past decade were not that great with some exceptions. this flick came out in the 1960's. pay attention crackhead.
if you close your eyes whilst listening at 0:28 you can just imagine a group of horse riders riding freely across an open field...such a great piece of music
@ignaciofacundo...A remake of this classic would be great, but they would probably ruin it with computer graphics like they did to "Wild, Wild West" with Will Smith.
Amazing chord progression @ 20 seconds from the end, also, is it just me or does Steve McQueen increase the awesomeness of a movie by an order of magnitude just by being there, even if he hardly talks?
@enigma413 I listened, but... perhaps it's because I know this one better (and I picture them all on their horses, galloping along to this music), and that they were all so handsome. Especially Yul and Steve. Although I did see Robert Vaughn in a hotel in Scotland 2 years ago, and he's still a fine figure of a man. I'm about the age they were when this was filmed.
@WoodsJulie Mr. Vaughn is still a very good actor. He was Napoleon Solo on The Man From UNCLE. He now does comercials for local law firms who specialize in workers compensation lawsuits. (Nothing wrong with that.) I do own a DVD of "The Magnificent Seven" and watch it on occasion.
La mejor musica que podemos oir de las mejores orquestas del mundo, que mas le podemos pedir a la vida,es muy gratificante seguir escuchando estos lindos temas de ayer.
No, it is THE best theme. Period. I agree the motifs are a little weak. Even so, it is head and shoulders above all others. Just turn it a little louder.
Ignorant commenter is ignorant. It's a good remake of a good movie. I don't think The Magnificent Seven would have a 93% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes if it were a bad movie. And it's music is better than Seven Samurai's.
I wish these seven were in today's business world. When their CEO walks in and tells them we are " down sizing" they would calmly say "That's right... WE ARE DOWN SIZING" and throw the A hole out the window.
does anybody know where i could find the original score for this? all i can find online are arrangements for school orchestra/bands or piano -_- how does one go about finding movie scores?!
Chris (Yul Brynner), Chico (Horst Buchholz),Harry Luck (Brad Dexter), Vin (Steve McQueen),Bernardo O'Reilly (Charles Bronson), Britt (James Coburn), Lee (Robert Vaughn), How spectacular of the classical casting of the film were in those days.
Why listen/watch something if you're just going to dislike it... those people who disliked this should jump head first off the empire state building with no parachute
Not sure if there are any prog rock fans lurking here but parts of this song sound very similar to the piano line in Gentle Giant's "think of me with kindness" which you can also find here on youtube.
Can't actually believe there's One of the Seven left. Long live Robert Vaughn, Eli Wallach (Calvera) and the girl who Chico fell in love with. They are all taht remain...
I do not remember any credit being given to the Seven Samurai but I as well may be mistaken.

So its basically your opinion that it is a bad remake.
