  • They don't sound that close.

One is in major key and the other is in minor key.

  • HAHA Creaky Boards. You wish Coldplay would plagiarize you. They were plagiarizing Joe Satriani so funny enough you're now on the same boat. Coldplay have better taste than that.

  • who the hell are the Creaky Boards? lol

  • e continuam eles como sempre nos plagios constantes.

  • Coldplay rips off other bands all the time. They even admit it! In a Rolling Stone interview in 2005, Chris Martin described them as "incredibly good plagiarists."

My knock against the band is that their music is derivative; they've never bothered to develop their own sound. (As Martin says, "I don't think you can say that we're original.") Their more recent work is indistinguishable from U2.

I try to cut them some slack, however, because they're my girlfriend's favorite band. :)

  • the funny thing is that coldplay was able to win so many awards and the creaky boards couldnt. "Oh its the same instruments", who gives a shit well maybe the first bands to use cowbell should sue everybody thats ever used cowbell the reason why coldplay won is because they had a great song. The creaky boards suck

  • not cool as cold play

  • thieving shits

  • Haha, good mix.

  • If you are listining to this on an iPhone you can just take put the left earplug and listen to "viva la vida". Good job dip.

  • They sound kind catchy together!! Sweet as!

  • Coldplay are sooo dull, it's no surprise that when they write their most successful song, it sounds like every other song no one cares about.

  • They did not steal the song. They sound nothing alike. The rythm is just the same. This crappy band is obviously just jealous of Coldplay and want some money so they can try to be. Coldplay forever!

  • You know what is ironic about the creeky board song is it is call "the songs i didn't wright". Now whats up with that?

  • @GTB0 That really is ironic.

  • I'm so sick and fucking tired of everyone defending coldplay, theyre not that great ! I much prefer "The Songs I didn't Write"

  • I play my guitar and trombone everyday, and i really dont hear anything out of the ordinary. I really dont think cp stole the song from these guys, but the joe satiani similarities are very plausable

  • which song is more popular? go from there haterz. the shit wont even reach the courts

  • Hitler was extremely popular figure in Germany. Therefore he must have been a real great human being, right?

    So congratulations you support Hitler.

    PS: You're also a communist.

    PSS: Suck a dick.

  • Wow, your a dumbass

  • Ahahaha. That sure means a lot coming from the genius who can't even differentiate between "your" and "you're".

  • Its funny that you have to attack my grammer on the internet instead of defender YOUR point. Happy?

  • Wow, ahahahaha! Dig yourself into an even bigger hole please.

And what's truly funny is that I need not defend my point, because you didn't attack it. All you said is "Wow, your a dumbass". When clearly, you are outclassed by anyone with more than a second grade education.

  • Maybe you should look at the reason why I said you were a dumass there genius. I called you a dumass because you make false and blind claims that people support Hitler. And yet you still haven't tried to defend "your point" but now instead have moved to attacking my edcuation, which I can assure you, is more then second grade.

  • If you think no one ever supported Hitler then you are absolutely 100 percent wrong. He was an extremely persuasive and powerful person in Germany, and highly supported there. Was he a good person? Well, I'm pretty sure that we can agree, no he most certainly was not.

The point I was making that, just because someone or something is extremely popular, it doesn't make it good.

Fucking hell, it's a lot better when I don't have to explain it piece by fucking piece to retards.

  • Dude, you are a fucking dumass. I was talking about the people YOU were saying supported hitler, which I assume people on youtube, unless your gonna say you were talking about formers of the nazi regime. If you have to change what I said so much to make your point right, I have to say your on a sinking ship on what ever your still trying to defend, and you still haven't done it. Now you just said I was wrong about the history of germany. PLEASE, TRY JUST DEFEND YOUR POINT.

  • What do you mean change what you said!? I didn't change a single thing you said!

The guy above said: Which song is more popular, go from there, as to insinuate that Cold Play's song is better.

My point: Then - People supported Hitler, he was bad. Now - People support Cold Play and they're bad.

Jesus fucking christ, it's like arguing with a wall. Here let me put it in words you can understand:

    HITLER WAS POPULAR AND BAD

    COLDPLAY POPULAR AND BAD

  • Ok, theres a big difference with what your saying.

    Hitler WAS BAD-FACT

    Coldplay is BAD-OPINION

You think that if theres a simlar connection between 2 things, there the same? Are you saying that people who support something bad(Which is bad in your opinion) that is popular, they're just as bad as nazi's in World War 2 because hitler was popular and he was bad? Wow, do you ever think before you talk? And please don't use the Lords name in vain.

  • Jesus titty fucking christ.

You're asking me if I think before I talk? Look at the smattering of textual diarrhea that comes flowing from your fingers in every comment. 99% of your fucking sentences don't even have proper grammatical structure.

When ever someone or something is labeled "bad", it's an opinion.

And there absolutely is a connection, the connection is JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE OR SOMETHING IS POPULAR, THAT DOESN'T MAKE THEM GOOD.

... Jesus fucking Christ, god dammit, etc.

  • Sigh, now were back at my grammar, You will never learn.......

Ya, and people like coldplay not cause there popular, cause there good. And before you try to correct my grammar again to somehow try to save whatever your trying to debate, im saying they're good in my and probably a lot other peoples opinion, so im not saying thats written in stone. When something is good in alot of people's eyes, THAT makes them popular.

  • So why did you respond at all? I was responding to that guy above who said their song is better because it's popular. Just get the fuck out of here already. Jesus fucking Christ.

  • Dude, let me just set you strait. Coldplay may not be good in your eyes, but they are in a lot of others. So their not better cause their popular, its cause their good and have fans, which in turn, makes them popular. But hold on, how do you think they get so many fans? its cause their well known and POPULAR, which get people to listen to their music on the radio and they get more fans, its how advertising works. You can hate coldplay and bitch all you want, but their still good.

  • A matter of your opinion, really. Good or not (the correct answer is not) they still stole from Joe. And, they should face the punishment for doing so.

  • Another thing, you're still just harping on them being popular, yet you give no backing for why they are good. It keeps falling back onto the fact that not everything that is popular is good.

Here's what I have for them vs. Joe.

Joe: Complex music that he wrote himself

Coldplay: Simple, purchased from a proprietary writer

Joe: Personally records (it's actually HIM on the album)

    Coldplay: Recorded by studio musicians

Joe: Gets fans without multimillion dollar ad campaigns

    Coldplay: You know

  • Hater

  • Coldplay writes their own music. Do some research before you spew words about things you're unsure about.

It's actually Coldplay on their albums.

Coldplay has been around, and had die-hard fans, for 10 years now. They've only been ridiculously popular for the past few years.

Like I said before, take the extra minute to do some research before you make yourself sound stupid.

  • I think it has been proved that he DOES need to copy. He needs to copy Kraftwerk for 'Talk', Ride for 'In My Place'.....and he's admitted it. The fact is that Chris Martin can't write songs without borrowing elements from other people's material, which he then tidies up into bland radio friendly format. Aside from the number of direct accusations of plagiarism against him, the similarities noted by the public (search 'coldplay plagiarism' on youtube) support that.

  • STOLE!!!!!

  • your stole!

  • There're some coincidental similarities in the rhythm but the strange thing was that Creaky Boards and Joe Satriani came into the picture to sue Coldplay for plagiarism... In other words, did Creaky Boards's The songs I didn't write (2007) copied Joe Satriani's If I could fly (2002) work too? Who knows?

  • no, coldplay is horrible, and the stole it, the joe satch song isnt as similar to creaky boards, JOE SATCH RULZ, CREAKY RULZ, COLDPLAY SUX

  • in my opinion, the coldplay song has alot more in common with creaky boards than any of that satriani or enanitos stuff. it's just that they have the decency not to get their panties in a big bunch and throw lawsuits around.

they solve their problems by making very amusing youtube videos with insinuating but never threatening captions

  • i love coldplay, but there are just too many similarities in the melody and the tune of the song. sorry, but it doesn't look good for them. they should just have given credit to creaky boards to start with.

  • oh sorry, i was goin on about joe satriani earlier, about this creaky boards: sounds like a good mash up, i dont think coldplay copied this.

  • I love Coldplay to bits. I am not biased to them, but about this Coldplay being sued crap-

the songs do sound quite alike. I'm not going to take sides on it though- I'm not saying they did steal it, not saying they didn't. There's a small chance they didn't steal it. Personally, (I'm not saying this to mean) Chris Martin should be put through a lie-detector test.then evryone would know the truth.

if they did steal it, im very pissed off. i dont think they should have to take someone else's meld

  • this is stupid nowadays you can sue anyone for anything even if u had to much lettuce in ur salad

  • i personly like the creeky boards one alot!

  • this is ridiculous because Coldplay is also being sued by Joe Satriani for plagiarism of the same song, therefore, you might as well say that the Creaky Boards copied Joe Satriani too. Or, you might just be able to concur that it is an easily thought of riff for a song that just so happened to be similar to one another. It happens all the time in the music industry! Practically every "one - hit - wonder" band could be pinned for copying each other with an infringement on the 1-3-5 pattern.

  • They should just remix the song and share the credit XD sounds uber cool, do love viva la vida

  • tons of artists sample music or melodies from other songs/bands--- i dont care as long as credit is given-- and kraftwerk is def credited since Coldplay blatantly sampled their beat. As long as credit is given, I could care less--- at least theyre not trying to pass it off as their own.

  • Creaky Boards version > Coldplay Version

  • if you doubt coldplay's ability to "borrow" listen to computer love by kraftwerk and then listen to coldplay's talk.

  • i didnt realize it was still plagiarisms even if the words are different, but the instrumental is deff the same

  • this sounds good together though...

  • i love viva la vida, but this is plagiarism

  • Nope, Viva la Vida and The Songs I didn't Write were both inspired by songs in the Legend of Zelda xP

  • WIKIPEDIA MOCH??!??!?!?!!

  • Viva La Vida was written and demoed 7 months before the Creaky Boards Song was written.

  • are you nuts, the instrumentals are identical...your opinion is biased, this is plagiarism

  • dude its a mix. haaha. i used coldplay's viva la vida and creaky boards and mixed the two.

  • No they're not identical Viva la vida is half a step down. But yeah same progression.

  • Lol, to be honest if it's a half step down it still doesn't change things. That's like taking Hotel California, playing it a half-step down and calling it my song. They can still sue me for that.

  • emmmmm no ¬¬!!!

  • love this song
