this genius said the eagle was released at a game "in the early 19th century." the early 19th century would be the early 1800s. auburns first season wasnt until 1892.
@cwb1130: Alright dumbass. I just want to clear this up for you, since obviously you're not intelligent enough to research things for yourself. I grew up an hour from Auburn, had season tickets my whole life, and am now a student here. I have hundreds of pictures with the EAGLE that flies before the games, when the aviary was still there. But, just to make 110% positive that you truly are a dumbass, I looked it up.

@vivlips You obviously have no clue about Auburn Univ. Their chant is war eagle, yes. But the bird they release before every home game, however, is in fact...a hawk. It's unequivocal.

They release Nova before their games and Nova is clearly an eagle. Are you blind or something? I am not even at the school yet (accepted for fall) and I am more informed than you about their traditions? (Paste the link after the ".com")
@UnrivaledShogun it's ok that you're naive on the tradition. It's understandable to think that they release an eagle at their games due since their chant is War Eagle, however that is not true. I have many roots in Auburn, and this always gets brought up. The truth is that they actually release a hawk. If you still don't believe me, then I welcome you to do more extensive reaserch on the matter. I'm very happy to clear that up for you, and I wish you luck next year at Auburn. ;)
Ive seen a video by Auburn themselves, Ive read Wikipedia pages, and Ive read the Auburn website itself. They all say they release an eagle before the game. There is nothing about a hawk. I think maybe you should go do some research. "Today, 'Nova'... is featured before football games by a flight in which the eagle circles the stadium before landing at mid-field."
@UnrivaledShogun haha, well. I have to say... I admire your vehement attempts to take up this cause. However, I hate to be so blunt, but unfortunately for you, this issue is unequivocal. I don't see how I can do anything other than justwaste my time trying to enlighten you on this opaque tradition, but I know you will soon come to realize that you are indeed wrong. I am sure that you will be willing to admit your current ignorance when you realize this. Have a great day.
