Not to understate the use of a Swing around set - I could imagine some useful common problems that are met along tight driveways & hillsides, as well as strut assemblies in quite steep country which really test the machinery & driving skills to the limits. But then again, there are very specific benefits to each type of machine. We have 3 - all of the same model, but would really appreciate a machine like this and the protech in various situations.
iv had the bryce version, i also run a protech p300s & there is a problem with both, they are getting too big, ok in good conditions but the sheer weight of tractor & machine means sometimes you rutt the field up just knocking posts in. we are trying the protech p22 on a kobota tracked dumper.
this will enable me to sack the member of staff who's messing me about as well as one man can opperate the machine without a monkey to drive the tractor
Tracks would offer some benefit. Here in Aust it would be a non starter due to the types of contract & distance work we do on job. I have seen a tractor operated from the post driver itself.
Weight is always a problem but at the same time it can be a very handy counter balance when conditions are not wet. Broken linkage arms are a concern in travel mode.. Being able to run efficently on a 70-75 HP tractor is also a big plus - given the 20 G difference between 70 & 90 HP models.
That is one hell of a machine but I take it its permanently fixed to one side so what happens when you need to knock a strain post in in an awkward corner such as protechs swing round to the back and you can extend them out into such places
You have to remember that this machine is built for maximum output and has way more capacity than a swing around driver
If you need to drive posts in awkward places the model 5 or 7 range of machines are ideal.A good tractor driver can get into position for 999 out of 1000 posts and that 1 post wouldnt really justify having a smaller capacity machine when the other 999 posts would be driven quickly and accurately. Users want the most efficient machine and this is it
From Australia - we don't operate either of these machines but am interested in their designs .
Re getting into tight corners - concur, most of the time one can get into most corners that exist - most of the time. I would imagine if one could not, you would go for a 3pt PTO digger mounted to your auxilary tractor.

i see where ur coming from but where we r there are lots of awkard corners and areas to get to so i think we r benafited with a swing round machine

Fascinating machines though.
