i understand why people would want to cover smiths songs, but they just shouldn't. When morrisey sings the lyrics he sings them because he wrote what he feels and there's emotion in it. Most Smiths covers don't work at all because they don't have this emotion. They just want a bit of popularity (this, for example).

The only good smiths cover is Noel Gallager plaing There Is A light, because it keeps the essence of the song. But fuck me, this sure doesn't.
