And before I get stosur fans complaining at my comment, serena beat her like 2weeks before the final 6/4 6/2 which also suggests serena was off this match. I feel stosur deserved RG 2010 more because she beat serena in a full match where they were both playing well, she also took out henin who's won there loads of times and jelena. She is favourite too win RG this year lets see if she can do it and defend her title in USO, then my opinion of her will change until then she is a 1 slam wonder.

Well I guess its nice for stosur to get a slam but I just can't warm too her at all, I just feel serena deserved it so much more, she beat more high end players and in my opinion had a much better run to the final then stosur. USO always F's serena over lol, I think she should just boycott the event. The match stat at the end says it all really doesn't it ? practically same amount of winners but 25 errors to 12 errors says it all. Also I think we all know stosur won't defend her title this year.

im a huge Serena fan but Stosur deserved to win here. she played better that day and Serena just wasnt in typical Serena form here. but at the end of the day, Stosur has 1 slam and Serena has 13. enough said.

Oh yeah Serena Williams is still great and one of the bests, but inspite of her greatness and achievements, it's seems that her BAD SPORTSMANSHIP and personal attack to officials always got the better of her.

Serena will be more of an inspiration if she learned the humility to apologize.

Everyone gets angry or upset esp. in a competitive sport.

What I don't understand was why would Serena turn it to a personal attack on the umpire saying things like "You're a hater." "you're unattractive inside." "You're a loser." rather than just sticking with the issue.

I don't hate Serena. I like her game. But not her ATTITUDE, SPORTSMANSHIP and PROFESSIONALISM.

Are tennis players supposed to learn from the past and be wiser & classier the older, richer and more famous they get?

well as the commentator said "that's not serena" and its true, the serena thoughout this event would never have lost like that, im not even saying that she would have won, but noway would she lose with a score line like that, since a couple of weeks ago she beat sam 4/6 2/6. She won 2 titles coming into the us open and also won all her sets in the us open in straight sets so this final made no sense. Congrats too sam, even though i felt she deserved the RG (2010)title more then this one.

@coolmonster1001 The commentator was expecting the Serena few years ago. They probably forget she's now 30yo. And she may have worse scoreline than this as she moved to 31 or 32 next few years if she's still playing.

The leading tournaments to a grandslam, they made no sense. A grand slam final, that makes a lot of sense! Sam had already beaten Serena on a grandslam stage before, so it means she can do it again.

So, If there's anyone deserving of the 2011 US Open title, it's the winner!!

Sam forced Serena to commit those errors. She returned Serena's 2nd serve with power and precision, at times an outright winner.

She would run-around with that powerful heavy-top spin forehand, used wicked slice and a very effective kick-serve. And Serena just can't cope with it. That's why she lost.

Maybe the matches are rigged today in some way. Certainly seems to me Nadal's losses to Djoko are very suspicious, it's like he isn't even trying to win and there's a weird vibe surrounding it all.

It increasingly seems there's LOTS of stuff going on behind the scenes, Serena's bizarre foot injury and hospitalization for 1 thing. Perhaps there are simply people around today who can decide who wins a final.

@suddenlyitsobvious Nah, the final wasn't rigged, Nadal was trying to play good, so was Djokovic, but Djokovic played smarter, Nadal came out aggressive, but then just waited for errors from Djokovic. Only in the end of the 3rd set did he be aggressive but after that he just was spent from being defensive. The serving was absolute crap in that match, from both of them.

I love sam and this is a well-deserved title, but this was not Serena's A game on that day. This was by far Serena's worst match during that tournament, unfortunately in the round where there was the smallest margin for error because Stosur is so good and has so much security on her groundstrokes. Hope Serena can lift another slam trophy, because she is a fantastic champion.

I really think that she will come back strong at the Australian Open next year. She will prove all those people who did not believe her wrong. Serena is the greatest player of all time! Even when she plays less or more tournament, she still by a billion miles greater than the past greats! I think that the chair umpire should only have given her a warning for that incident. Everybody makes mistakes even the greatest players in the sport like Serena! Serena was caught up in her adrenalin and championship competitive spirit! That's how passionate she is!
