How did Stevenson win Missouri? Were they mad at Eisenhower for what he did to the Trumans? Apparently he wouldn't go in the White House for tea like they always do, he wanted to wait until he was President before he went in. He won it in 52 so it wouldn't surprise me if this was the reason, as it was the only state he ever lost, in fact he gained Kentucky and West Virginia in 56.

@88mphsss If I remember correctly, Eisenhower narrowly carried Missouri in 1952, and I think that state being Harry Truman's home state had something to do with the slim margin. In 1956, although Ike won an even bigger landslide than in 1952 overall, his standing in rural areas declined. I think this decline was just enough to flip Missouri to Stevenson in 1956.
