@2010blackhawkdown I don't think it works like that. The UK only has 6.7 guns per 100 people yet has a higher murder rate then Swede, Iceland, Germany and Austria that have over 30 per 100 people. Higher then even Switzerland that has almost 1 in every 2 people with guns. Higher then Portugal, Australia, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Slovenia, Malta, Greece, Bahrain and Luxembourg that all have more guns per head. Some people just don't realize that, regardless of how strict gun laws are, even to the point of banning all guns of all types, the criminals will get their hands on them anyway. There was a shooting that led to the ban of assault rifles, the Dunblane massacre led to the ban of pistols, and more recently the Derek Bird incident in Cumbria led to the ban of rifles. But all of these (minus the cumbria ones) where before there was any serious gang and murder problems around... Know though, I think they should be integrated back in. Give them to banks and shop owners first.

Some of mine consist of being taught to handle firearms before the age of 10, 6.5 years of Active Military Service in a Combat MOS with 2 tours of duty in Iraq, being a firearms enthusiast with a collection of firearms in the double digits, hours of research on firearm forums, and the list continues. He came in the shop I was in and killed three people and I saw a child sitting down. That's when I reached for my handgun and shot him 5 times. We have the most permissive gun laws in the U.S. Civilians can concealed or open carry their handguns without a permit. Yet, we have the least gun crime, or any crime in the country. Criminals are afraid to rob a store because they think someone is carrying a handgun. In-fact, I never was called to a robbery in over 5 weeks. Ever since the bill was made law.

They can only deal with crime after the fact. You might get a case number for insdurance purposes (provided you survive the attack), but don't count on them showing up in the nick of time every time. Even body armer is very much fround upon and will get you a lot of hassle from the police. Even the police are not armed for the most part. @2010blackhawkdown I don't think it works like that. The UK only has 6.7 guns per 100 people yet has a higher murder rate then Swede, Iceland, Germany and Austria that have over 30 per 100 people. Higher then even Switzerland that has almost 1 in every 2 people with guns. Higher then Portugal, Australia, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Slovenia, Malta, Greece, Bahrain and Luxembourg that all have more guns per head. I think its more a cultural thing rather then weapons them self.

Some people just don't realize that, regardless of how strict gun laws are, even to the point of banning all guns of all types, the criminals will get their hands on them anyway. What we need is more crime control, not more gun control. But disarming law abiding citizens is the easiest option and does nothing to stop gun crime.

If you look at the US and the states that have high gun ownership, there's also a difference in overall culture and family values. I moved from the east coast out to Utah (i'm hispanic / european decendant) and lots of people carry..but its very wholesome and not as "annoying" as the east coast. Same can be said for a lot of the European countries that have low crime.

I do not think its a good idea for police to carry guns. It has not proven to be a deterrent. Instead criminals get hold of high powered weapons to confront the police and than the police will have to match the criminals and many innocent people will get caught up in street battles when will the madness stop. Millions of guns and billions of bullets are made every year and sold. The Goverment knows this and cannot controll it. Its a billion pound industry which is very profitable to Goverments.

Move to Canada. It really is the safest and nicest place you can live. Very few south americans in Canada which is a really good thing because there isn't much ethnic gang expansion to here. They already did. It is nearly impossible to buy a gun "legally" in the UK. However, criminals don't care if there is a gun ban. If they want a gun or anythng bad enough, they're going to get it sooner or later. The British police are seizing AK-47s, Mac-10s, and almost every type of handgun that you can imagine. Guns don't have minds of their own. If you ask any policeman if gun control works, he'll tell you that it won't stop criminals since it only targets honest citizens.

I know they did, and it's been quite a while back. This is only a picture of what would take place in the US if they tried to do away with guns. We have many more urban areas with the mexican, latin american drug cartels flourishing in the south and throughout the US than the UK. And then there is all the gangs such as the bloods and crips and MS 13, it would be a disaster for us.
