I have the Bushmaster upper on a cheap lower. I have four ASC mags that I fill up to 20 rounds, and 20 round 5.56 mags work fine as 5 round x39 mags. I was having feeding problems through the first 100 rounds or so, gave the gun a very thorough cleaning/lubing and I haven't had any problems since. Steel, Yugo, both are running through it wonderfully. At .17c - .20c a round this is by far the best plinking setup for the price. Complete gun for under $700 in hand, and cheap ammo. Brilliant.
@TheyxSeexMexTrollin Yeah. You may have fitting issues though. I couldn't get the Bushmaster upper I bought onto my Stag lower. I was beating the pins and it wouldn't fit. Another "mil-spec" lower it went right on, mags fit just fine, it goes bang every time now.
I have the same Bushmaster upper and I have had nothing but feeding issues. Does yours have the M4 feed ramps? even with the bushmaster magazine and ASC mags I got they all dont feed. every have this problem?
@mrblueagian I don't think I have the M4 feed ramps, I just bought it straight like this from bushmaster and I have not had any issues with it yet. If you only have a bushmaster upper and a different lower, they might not match completely the same so that could be your problem.
Of course it is a little more punch. I remember the day I shot mine in front of a veteran and he looked over at the gun and said. That's not a 5.56... this gun is great and the bullet really makes this gun a powerful rifle
@423Stroker what brand is your upper. I am about to purchase an AR-15 and I am considering a 7.62x39 upper since it is cheaper than .223, but i dont know what companies make them. thanks
A Geissele Combat Trigger can remedy the problem with Russian Berdan primer. The SSA can set off Berdan primers of 5.45 / 7.62x39 reliably and consistently as well as any NATO military primers in .223 and .308 (LR-308). Look for the hour-long installation tutorial.
I have hear this is a common problem with 7.62 ARs. I remember someone saying you can file down the firing pin so there is a smaller area making contact with the primer. Either that or get one of the enhanced firing pins that is meant for this type of ammo. I think ar15performance makes one also.
Ever have a problem with Steel ammo? I also have a AR in a 7.62x39 and it seems like the primer is too thick on a lot of steel ammo. I know Brass is better but it gets expensive.
@423Stroker Mine actually shoots Wolf too except for a bunch of Military Classic Wolf ammo i got at a gun show. I get a lot of good info on the AR-15 page on Facebook but not many people have a 7.62x39. I was considering getting a MGI enhanced bolt and firing pin like some one suggested in an earlier comment. Someone suggested a stronger trigger spring but we're not sure if that would help.
@AloneCorleone I wish I could help more but I don't know exactly what would help, I know the weapon inside and out like the back of my hand but I don't know what to say about that.
@423Stroker You should put your arm down better stability than putting your arm up like a chicken wing. Don't forget to lean into your gun too your standing up straight.
@AloneCorleone The MGI bolt is good to go. I do not know about the hammer spring because my brother and I have been having great luck with the Rock River Arms parts kit, including that spring ever since.
Actually what company is yours? Model 1 sales makes kits for that and many other calibers. they also have a special firing pin that protrudes a bit further to help with round detonation. you also cannot modify the trigger group in terms of springs because a lighter spring for a light trigger will give you light strikes and misfires. Keep a standard spring, modified firing pin, and smooth out the trigger surfaces, youll do just fine. No special bolt or carrier is needed.
Nice looking AR. I have built several of them and all seem to work flawless provided
you use C-products mags and get and enhanced bolt and firing pin from MGI. The MGI bolt and firing pin will give you high reliablitiy when using the Wolf or Bear Ammo. Cost is 125.00 FYI
I had the same model (Bushmaster XM15 e2s in 7.62x39). Had too many reliability issues with it. Had to get rid of it. Went with a Sig516 instead. Glad yours gave you no problems. Didnt matter what ammo I put in it. It would still jam. Tried new mags and everything else I could think of. Sadly I will not buy another Bushmaster.
Is this the love child of Kalashnikov and Stoner? lol Had the two worked together and they had a better round to work with than both the 5.56 and 7.62x39, they could have made a super gun.
@StandasYT I'm happy with it, I just don't get to fire it as much as I like to because I'm always gone for the military, there hasn't been a problem with it yet.

Have you had any jams or feeding issues with the 30 round mags? I'm looking to get one of those myself. I also have found an AR lower that accepts AK mags if the c-products mags don't work out.
@Moldovawineimporter Thanks for the advise. I already decided that there will be no steel case ammo fired out of mine when I get it. CTD and GA have brass cased ammo available. It's not as cheap as the Russian surplus, but it's reasonable enough to justify the difference. It's also reloadable so that's an added plus for me.
I'll keep you in mind if anything comes up. Thanks for offering to help!
@MrGuyfromhell thank you for the pointers and thats not why i got more recoil, considering i just got done with marine corp basic this past friday, your supposed to let the full recoil through your body, but keep talking like you know what to do
@MegaBHags I like it alot, I like it because it's just a little different, I mean everyone gets the .223 ha, it does have a little kick to it tho, but you get much more fire power and if ya go hunting, you can take down about anything.
Yeah it was my first time firing it so I didn't know quite what to expect, but yeah I have to keep my elbow down, I'm not used to the shorter stock...but I got a green dot laser now so I can just hip fire haha.
Man, it seem like a little more than you could handle, when got finish shootin you had that deer n the headlights look .Are you use to it now ?And do you think it's more accurate than an AK47?
@423Stroker Ok I seen them in my bushmaster catalog. I woulnt mind having one of them. I got a bushmaster AR15 in .223 and I got an SKS for the 7.62x39.
You do have a pretty bad stance.... No offense.
