"I'm a well known crackpot. The Justice League's reputation will survive my actions."
I love how he was willing to be locked up, or even get the chair, just to save Superman. Granted, if I had the chance to bail Superman out, I'd take it too
Clancy Brown is amazing in this scene as Luthor, it feels that all his previous appearances in STAS and the Justice League build up to this story arc, and its my favourite!
@Mrpavy2 Luthor was always white. Superman the animated series made him tan enough to look black...and it doesn't help that Clancy Brown (his voice actor) while white, could pull off a black guy pretty well.
@Mrpavy2 He model design was based off a famous Greek actor. People from that area are tan and darker than most other Caucasian people. I never thought he was black as a kid though. But apparently that was a big "complaint" back then on STAS (Despite superman having the same skin tone but whatever). So they lightened him up to be more on model with the comics.
" the plastic tips at the end of your laces are called acelets. their true purpose is sinister." man I'd love to be able to come up with shit like this!:)
I can't help but watch this scene again. The way the music builds and perfectly fits Question's line; "The Justice League's reputation will survive my actions...And Superman's legacy will remain intact."
I really admire Question's will to protect the heroes and the planet by killing an evil man so no one else has to.
This is why I don't brush my teeth, wear shoes with velcro straps, and wear a bullet proof vest made from Illuminati mystics to stop magic bullets ... though to the naked eye it looks like a sweater vest from the GAP.
The 5 episode part (A Better World from S3 and Question Authority+Flashpoint+Panic In the Sky+Divided we fall from S4) are the best plot points of the series... and S4 is my favorite season. Had they moved Dark Heart and A Better World in S4 it would have been the best season ever (which it already is though, ensured by Epilogue).
The whole part from the Question Authority episode of Q vs Superman and Q vs Luthor is the best ever. At least in my opinion. Dialogue, music, acting and all.
@MrTwistyEdits ****** SPOILER ****** ****** SPOILER ****** ****** SPOILER ****** ****** SPOILER ****** Brainiac "infects" Luthor with code that replicates in his body and develops. Afterwards he cures Luthor's cancer and gives him super strength. He also subtly influences his mind by sending "ideas". Brainiac wants to use Luthor's photographic memory to rebuild Amazo's body and then transfer the code inside the android for ultimate power. ****** SPOILER ******
i would LOVE to see a question live action series. with all these conspiracy theories he's always talking about, they could make for some really good episodes. i'd really like to see the illuminati bit. props to bruce timm and co. for making such an awesome DC animated universe.
Well that's cos he is one of the most intelligent member of the Justice League.
(Apart from Batman, J'onn, Captain Atom and a few others in their own fields of activity of course... Batman being the smartest followed by J'onn overall :) ).
"A is A". This is a reference from one of the main characters of the original creator of The Question Steve Ditko, "Mr. A", whose name comes from the law of identity (A -> A, that is).
Could someone please tell me just how Luthor could have defeated The Question? His martial arts mastery is nearly on the same level as Batmans. He isn't one that would go down easily.
I spent 75 million dollars on a fake presidential campaign just to tick superman off. That's what I call... (puts on shades) *fill in corny punchline here*
fucking question should get more storylines in this series man! i mean i loved how his small entrance made such an impact for us the viewers to dwell but, thats all he can be noted for, i mean god he has so much more potential!!
@click4mychannel Welcome to children's entertainment, before it was sugar coated and watered down to the extent of it becoming an insult to kids' intelligence.
The Question (real name Charles Victor Szasz, goes by Vic Sage as a newscaster) is a fictional character, a superhero in comic books published by DC Comics. The original was created by writer-artist Steve Ditko, and first appeared in Blue Beetle #1 (June 1967). Originally created for Charlton Comics, the character was acquired by DC Comics in the early 1980s and incorporated into the DC Universe. Following the events of the series 52, his protege Renee Montoya has succeeded him as the Question.
As conceived by Ditko, the Question was an adherent of Objectivism during his career as a minor Charlton hero, much like Ditko's earlier creation, Mr. A. In a 1987-1990 solo series from DC, the character developed a Zen-like philosophy.
@ght6yht6 If I remember correctly, it is later revealed in this episode that Braniac is manifesting himself in Lex Luthors body giving him superpowers.
"No, it wouldn't be prudent. I want you to understand something, Luthor. Although my distaste for you as a human being is Brobdingnagian, what I'm about to do isn't personal"
I know lex had an ABSOLUTELY UNFAIR advantage, and I'm sure ? would've handled him WELL, but I gotta admit, the ? got his ass beat, that's just the truth. :/
@keithd555 This show is very good, yes, but especially this series of it. It had a story arc about Cadmus, a government agency consisting of politicians, scientists and even criminals. Its purpose is to be a defense against superheroes, who they feel are loose cannons that could erupt at any time and threaten the world.
It's a very well written story, which references shows from years ago -for instance, Cadmus was apparently created after events from the Superman series a few years previously
Brainiac is inside his body giving him super-strength, but at this point we don't know that yet. Even Lex himself doesn't know what's going on, which is why you see him marveling at his own fists in this clip. In the 3-part episode "Divided We Fall" we figure out it's actually Brainiac.
There's one flaw in the Question's logic. There actually WAS a heroic Lex from an alternet Earth with an evil Superman (or Ultraman as he was called). So apprently characteristics aren't universal but still I guess one such anomoly isn't significant enough to upset the whole applecart. :)
@dragonstormx Yeah, I was just goofing. :) What's REALLY funny though that this show was able to revise and update characters and make them cool even when the comics struggled to figure out what to do with them or make them work. Sometimes I wonder if the comics shouldn't follow their lead or take these guys on as writers. :)
Somethings in the comics due take a cue from these shows (Harley Quin was added in, and Mr. Freeze's origin), and one of the writers from Batman TAS did work as a writer in the comics.
@dragonstormx yeah I know but I was talking more wholesale change over. I mean when you spend a decade trying to fix the Hawkman's backstory only to end up with such a tangeled mess that no one could make sense out of it maybe it's time for fresh eyes. :)
Seemed to me that the DC writers of the day (in the 90's mostly) weren't aware that less is more and couldn't just do a simple straitforward origin without complicating it death. :)
@NatDuv121 I guess when you have so many comics with so many characters and connections and so on it's way harder to keep track of. With the cartoons he only had one or two shows going at once so it was easier. Still couldn't hurt to put him in charge of the comics and let him make it all make sense (at least back then). :)
The same could be said with the Superman: Red Son story, where Sups was raised by the Soviet Union. Lex was still kinda evil but he still was good, making him neutral.
"There was a magic bullet. It was forged by Illuminati mystics to prevent us from learning the truth!" I was expecting him to start reciting the lyrics to "Mary had a little Lamb" or "Puff the Dragon".
When 1:21 happened when this show was still was on TV, I was like "WOAH WHAT" O.o

With the cartoons he only had one or two shows going at once so it was easier. Still couldn't hurt to put him in charge of the comics and let him make it all make sense (at least back then). :)

@LibraGamesUnlimited
The same could be said with the Superman: Red Son story, where Sups was raised by the Soviet Union. Lex was still kinda evil but he still was good, making him neutral.

@GoopLoopScoop Yeah, oddly he was basically the same guy with the same plans but he had the whole country behind him and was viewed as a hero.

"There was a magic bullet. It was forged by Illuminati mystics to prevent us from learning the truth!" I was expecting him to start reciting the lyrics to "Mary had a little Lamb" or "Puff the Dragon".

The Question was gonna strangle Luthor with his tie...pretty hardcore for a superhero cartoon that aired during primetime.
