Hey, wondering what stops ....Nh5 after e3? Noticed this was played often this tourney. Seems like white loses his dark bishop and must recapture the Knight by doubling pawns??? Please help me understand the purpose of this bizarre bishop move and why white would chose to trap this bishop with e3? All help appreciated! Thanks in anticipation.
@mattyismadness Might doubled pawns have a strong benefit? Namely a half open h-file and future pressure maybe against the black king. Nh5 Bg3 NxB hxN
It's great that you're still making these videos Jerry. I love the livestreams, especially the five minute games, but these YouTube videos are my favorite, and are main resource for learning to play better. Thank you.
First of all, you wont see a comment from me in which i am not saying thank you for your fantastic videos.
I am just wondering, in the final position why white didnt try to sac his queen for the rook followed by taking c3 with the knight. As far as I can see, he would would have 2 rooks for a queen and a pawn, and eventually a tenable position, but I am sure there must be a tactical refutation which I am missing. Would be glad to hear an answer ;)
@alkadura I forget to include this so that there'd be more closure. If QxN, then BxQ and Nxc is met by Qxd+ Kc2 Bg6+ Kb3 Qc4+ Kb2 Qxb4+ and then QxN.
Jerrrrryyy i remember watching twitch when you played against the impossible computer can you do that again sometime haha that was really fun to watch :)
For me, someone that's using this videos for learning purposes I think it would be really good if you used the black stripe on one of the sides to annotate the moves :) Would make it a lot easier to ask questions here on the comments and even follow the action. Anyways, love the videos that cover recent tournament games.
Thank you, Jerry! A game of high complexity -- there would hardly be chance of a couch player like me making heads and tails of it on their own :). Thank you very much for the time devoted on making such detailed and yet clear and easy to understand analyses. What makes yours special are the insights into the variant lines of the openings: hugely appreciated!
Thank you very much. I saw this game live on tatasteel and was wondering about the final position and about some weird move (well i thought they were ;)), but as always, your explanations helped me understanding everything :)
at the whole knight situation at 09:30 i would probably have tried to put pressure on g5 to weaken blacks position, regardless of what his knight is up to because the situation will change immediately. possibly by putting f3 to f4. but im just a beginner^^
This is the best analysis I ever saw on youtube then i started to check out your other videos and they were awesome too i subscribed and thanks for addidng me as a friend (reply to this comment that i know u read it) :)
White's problems, according to Aronian, started with Qc2. And Black doesn't have to take on b3 but could find much better moves, say c5, Bc6, or even Bd6, as in the game.
Huge Thanks to you Jerry i was following all Tournament games Live and was actually about to suggest that you should make an analysis of some, and then i open youtube -> Upload!!! :)
Please let the Videos come more frequently not any chess channel out there is even nearly as insightful as yours ;)
queen to q4 would force the rook to go back

@ChessNetwork What do you think of Anash Giri? As being Dutch, I really like him very much and i see him as a talent in chess.

@truedevilslicer1 this hangs f3 and weakens the king
LuckyNumbers7 1 month ago
@truedevilslicer1 because the a-pawn is not important. white needs the queen to defend his position and really doesn't care about the a-pawn ;-)
