  • damn...i learned alot from this video!!!

  • Too bad all officers can't have partners at all times. Three tours in Iraq has taught me that if you have coverage, that second man can save your bacon. An attacker just may go after one person, not so likely two people.

  • @azimuth361 Very true. Thanks for your service. Glad you made it home.

  • my dad is a cop and he told me the most terrifying thing is a knife cause even at long ranges you can still throw it

  • It's all about reaction time, and unfortunately it's almost impossible for an officer to draw his gun and shoot before the guy with the knife closes the distance. Just like how the first SWAT guy to breach a door is never shot, only the dudes behind him.

  • Very interesting. Fortunately I (currently) live in a place where I will most likely never need any of this.

  • @Kinokarte Sadly, bad things happen to good people and it usually happens when its most advantageous for the bad guy and you are at your most vulnerable. Crime happens everywhere. My mother in law was robbed at gun point at a mall in Hawaii where guns are highly restricted and crime is thought to be non very low.If there is alcohol or drugs sold in your town you can be a victim of a robbery or assault. Thats a fact. Humans, alcohol & drugs = crime. No one is immune to this human flaw.

  • @mixflip Society doesn't have to be like that. I was talking to a guy on Silat TV from Malaysia and he could just not understand why we carried knives because the way their society is, such a need is beyond them

  • @MERVILLE3 I cant live my life according to some way of life in some foreign land. Just because Vatican City or Switzerland or what ever country doesnt have a need for gun or knives or any form of self defense has no bearing on what I have to deal with in my 25 mile radius. Im happy Malaysians dont have to worry about self defense against violent crime but in the rest of the world crime exists. Bad things happen to good people and I want to be prepared.

  • @mixflip Look at what happened in Norway or Belgium recently, one always has to be prepared but that's not the point. Become political. Don't accept the NRA narrative or the guns industry. There is no excuse for supermarkets selling Clocks, never mind semi-automatic assault rifles. Legal or illegal arms have no part in society.

  • @MERVILLE3 Alcohol has no place in society. You cant defend your family from a home invasion with alcohol. You cant hunt birds or deer with alcohol. You cant form a citizen militia to defend against tyranny & dictatorship with alcohol. Legal guns have a place in society big time! Dont even get me started on tobacco either. Weapons arent the problem. People will kill no matter if you take away every gun on Earth. Thinking otherwise is simply naive and foolish.

  • @MERVILLE3 go cry yourself to sleep you socialist pussy. There is no such thing as a semi automatic assault rifle you media following blathering wimp. Actual "assault" rifles are select fire.

  • @HYBRIDCOMBATIVES L1A1 and the Beretta AR70 are two examples of semi automatic only assault rifles. Just sayin'.

  • @gandhicakes They are not assault rifles. They are semi automatic variations of assault rifles. Assault rifles by definition are SELECT FIRE.

  • Is it just me or is the narrator the Cold Steel voice over guy?

  • Comment removed

  • Whre is more of this? great upload

  • @glockman1727ak47 Ive never seen more of it. They showed this in my police academy and thats all there was.

  • @mixflip

This is taken from a video called "Surviving Edged Weapons". Not eas y to find a copy.

  • @mixflip thanks for getting back to me. Thanks again for the upload about the 21ft rule. Awesome stuff.

  • @mixflip There's a great video on youtube of a guy going nuts against armed cops with a knife. He takes out about 3 or 4 of them (that's not the great bit) before he gets taken out.

  • @MERVILLE3 Yep I have that video on my youtube channel. Check it out. Its called the 21ft fail.

  • i am amazed that no one uses this wonderful thing called a fist to punch anymore i mean come on you see someone flex or make a quick jerk that means A he is going to shank you B try to get a gun out and shoot you or C try to punch you

  • @1442899 Yep, most people have a sheep mindset.

  • where do you get this video?

  • @Papibrad1 Youtube.

  • this is invaluable information...more CWP holders need this information

  • On the rail of their glocks. Sorry for the typo

  • Maybe the cops should use the bayonet on the rail or their glocks like mother nature intended. Can't underestimate the pistol with the bayonet mounted.

  • Those vests they wear aren't stab proof either, the prison guards have ones that are but the neck is still exposed.

  • dont bring a gun to a knife fight .... youll loose

  • @ratthechicken At close distance (inside of 21ft) thats probably more true than just being funny?

  • Gun control isn't about eliminating violent crime. It's about eliminating the ability of ordinary people outside the self-appointed elites to say "Fuck you" when told to do something intolerable to them by said elites.

  • This just goes further towards dispelling the myth so many people seem to believe that simply removing guns will somehow render people incapable of murder. We humans killed one another just fine for thousands of years before firearms were even an idea.

  • @slightlyoutofreach01 Very true.

  • @slightlyoutofreach01 I don't know anybody who thinks removing guns will eliminate murder . . . obviously murder happens in countries where access to guns is very restricted. The idea is that removal of guns will reduce murder, since guns make killing much easier than by other methods.

  • @saltyseaweed "The idea is that removal of guns will reduce murder,"

Except it doesn't, and never has. Even in the UK, which is hailed as an example of how well gun control 'works,' there was little impact made on overall crime OR murder rates. Yes, murders with firearms went down somewhat, but they didn't disappear completely. On top of this, murders utilizing other methods went up to compensate.

People are always going to be crazy and violent; the tools available to them don't matter.

  • @slightlyoutofreach01

you can run from a knife my friend, but never a gun.

  • @ShugoTenshi123 Looks like someone didn't watch the video.

  • @mbmhs .... are you blind or did we both watch a different video? They didn't try to run which is stupid. They tried to keep pulling a gun out. Dan in this video is what? 70 years old? if the cops ran in the opposite direction and sprinted while pulling a gun out, they will kill him easy.

  • @ShugoTenshi123 Of course you would have just turned into your hollow form and then the knife would be ineffective.

  • @ShugoTenshi123 True, but what if you're outrun? What if you are physically incapable of running? What if you're trapped in close quarters.

There will always be killers out there, and murder won't go away if you declare guns illegal. What you WILL do, however, is take one of the most effective ways of stopping or deterring an assailant out of the hands of the law-abiding.

  • @slightlyoutofreach01

I agree that there will always be murder, but school shootings with a machine gun vs school stabbing with a retractable katana. Do you see the difference? Let's say you were getting robbed with a gun and you decided to run and the dude shoots at you but misses... a bullet can go roughly 1/4th of a mile in a second. It misses you, it'll probably hit someone else... someone that's totally unrelated.

  • @slightlyoutofreach01 It won't render people uncapable, but it'll surely make it much harder to kill someone. I don't think anyone can dispute that point.

  • @Anonymous1986 And yet, that won't deter anyone from trying. Even in countries where guns are heavily restricted, murder rates haven't gone down. Not only can many criminals still get the weapons they want, but the ones that can't just use other methods. If somebody really wants to kill someone else, they're not going to be deterred by not being able to get a gun.

As this video demonstrates, if somebody possesses even basic knowledge of how to utilize a knife in close combat, you're screwed.

  • @slightlyoutofreach01 I'm think you're being disingenuous at best here, the majority of these countries have a low number of murders to start off with, that's the reason why they haven't "gone down" as you claim. Trying to kill someone is clearly different to killing someone. (Imagine if you will there was a device that let you kill people just by thinking about killing them, would you restrict that device? Here's an extreme example of an object that makes it much easier to kill someone)

  • @Anonymous1986 "the majority of these countries have a low number of murders to start off with,"

Then why ban firearms at all? If the murder rate is unchanged at best, and rises at worst, why bother instituting such bans?

A gun is a tool, nothing more. It doesn't make someone all-powerful or undefeatable, but it's still a legitimate means of self-defense. As I already said, criminals will happily just use other methods to kill, why disarm people who haven't hurt anyone?

  • @slightlyoutofreach01 What do you mean with your first question? The reason these countries have lower murder rates is to do with the fact that it's much harder to kill someone without a gun. A gun is a tool, but again you haven't disputed my point that guns make it much easier to kill someone. Criminals too will have a harder time killing people without guns. Humans are inherently flawed, and seemingly legitimate people will make mistakes with guns too casing much misery.

  • @Anonymous1986 "The reason these countries have lower murder rates is to do with the fact that it's much harder to kill someone without a gun."

You're contradicting yourself. You already admitted that these countries already had much lower murder rates than the US even without gun legislation. And again, the overall rate of murder remains unchanged either way. Hence, my assertion that banning firearms is pointless.

    (cont.)

  • @Anonymous1986 (cont.)

As for your second point, I haven't disputed the fact that guns make it easier to kill because it doesn't matter. I don't see the obsession with pointing out that guns are made specifically to kill or make killing easier. Again, taking them away doesn't make people stop killing, or even make them kill -less often-. And you're just as dead whether stabbed or shot to death.

Yes, people make mistakes with guns, but so do people with cars, and cars kill far more people.

  • @slightlyoutofreach01 I'm not sure if you're pretending to miss the point or actually missing it. Taking guns away won't stop people TRYING to kill each other, but it will reduce people ACTUALLY killing each other. The benefits of cars far outweigh it's negatives. The same doesn't apply for guns.

  • @Anonymous1986 "but it will reduce people ACTUALLY killing each other."

Except, again, it -doesn't-. I can cite once again the fact that not only has gun crime not gone down as expected in the UK, but the murder rate remained largely unchanged and even rose in some areas. What you're doing is not making guns go away, but telling people they're not allowed to have them. Decent people who you have no reason to be afraid of will obey these laws, criminals won't.

  • @Anonymous1986 And let's not forget the fact that the states and cities with the strictest gun laws here in the US also have the highest murder rates anyway. DC had some of the strictest firearms regulations in the country, and they were the murder capitol of the United States for ages. Compare this to states and cities with lax gun laws, and somehow the murder rate isn't nearly as high.

  • @Anonymous1986 In any event, it's not likely we're going to change each other's minds on this issue. I respect your opinion, even if I may disagree with it, and I thank you for debating it civilly with me. That's rare, especially here on Youtube.

  • @slightlyoutofreach01 Yeah you're right, opinions are rarely changed through debates on youtube :p. Still at least you've got good taste in games (Portal 2).

  • need to learn to shoot from the hip. and study Aikijujutsu and you will have a chance.

  • @562ole I take American freestyle mma and ur right and I like u hate the posers and they usually end up hurting themselves like a DA bc they r a DA

  • @562ole Maybe the dept in your area has money? Thats good for them. Out here we ride alone like I said. As for fight training, police call it defensive tactics or DT's. Its basic grappling and wresting and a few joint locks but nothing hard core. Here in Vegas where everybody is a UFC fight it seems, every arrest could be a trained fighter. Even a rookie fighter is no joke. Luckily many Vegas cops study grappling on the side just because of where we live. Many of us even get free UFC tickets!

  • @562ole I am a cop. We dont usually ride with a partner unless we are training one. Most of the time we drive alone and call for back up if things look like we might need it. Plus with the recession and budget cuts cops are alone even more. Back up is often a few minutes away when seconds count. The next time you drive by a cop pulling over a car...check and see how many cops are on the stop? The invention of quality radios is a cops biggest asset to catching bad guys.

  • @562ole I know you were just kidding. On a serious note, in reality...usually when someone gets stabbed...the victim has no idea it is coming. If a thug tried to stab a cop..he could do it easily and most likely get shot by the cop as he tried to run away and both might die? If a bad guy wants to stab you...you are going to get stabbed! Wether he gets away without being shot afterwards is another story. Stay safe.

  • @562ole Sure if the guy stood still for you. Its a little hard to shoot a target the size of a milk jug when its running at you with a knife knowing that if you miss you are going to get stabbed in the chest or slashed across the jugular vain? Its even worse if you have no idea you are about to get ambush with a knife? But shooting in the T-box (aka the face) is a good idea if you can pull it off?

  • Staying on the move is the best with drawing your sidearm.

  • Give knife to cops?

  • I carry a Rajah 2 every day.

  • so in short, if you're walking the beat and you come across a sketchy dan inosanto... it's sad day for you amigo~ sad day for you

  • @DocNob0dy Yep, pretty much. If a wacko want to cut you... you are going to get cut...period. How bad depends on the skill of the wacko and the self defense skills/luck of the victim?

  • Can you upload the full video please? I;ve been looking EVERYWHERE for it!!!

  • This is why police officers shoot people with knives

  • 1:10 would have been perfect for Aikido, clearly the officer doesnt know it, but he held the knife out and ran at him, fuckin grab his wrist, take control, he didnt even stab and pull back, just ran forward thats it, front kick, side kick, get it away from you. Clearly the white haired cop fails.

  • @DaniRuAkavaty It sounds instinctive but I have had adrenalin dumps during sudden attacks that prevented me from doing any of the lethal and effective moves I learned. Unless you are attacked like this so often that it becomes "old hat", its hard for the rest of us to get the fine motor stuff to work in that instant. If you have a way to artificially create that level of fear/adrenalin dump, please let me know. That method of training I would consider priceless.

  • melee... dont underestimate it!

I wonder about throwing knives and these types of scenarios...

  • Thanks youtube, now I know how to pull a knife on a cop.

  • @travesham Bad guys have been pulling knives on cops for decades. Nothing new

  • @travesham Good thing that before the invention of firearms no one ever got killed. And before the invention of youtube people were to stupid to know how to use a knife. If you needed youtube to show you how to use a knife in an attack you won`t scare me. Not even if you carried a axe.

  • This is a wakeup call to those that trust to their firearms only ..

  • @warriorofhonor I know right? people have WAY to much faith in their weapons... like the guy didn't even need a knife. even if he was empty handed, he could have done serious damage. in fact i prefer open hand fightihng because you don't have a stupid weapon to worry about and fiddle with... a good knifehand shot to the carotid artery/jugular area and it's pretty much over lol. and that's just one option... to a well trained fighter, guns and knives don't pose all that much more of a threat...

  • this is good. but what about the hoodlums who dont carry pistols in a holster and keep a round chambered? id say they got more of a fighting chance against a knife attacker.

  • @CAallday209 Very true statement. There was an article a while back I read where it talked about why bad guys survive armed conflict more often than the good guys. Its because they have a fight to the death nothing to loose no respect for innocents around them mindset...which are all the things that hold back us good guys in some situations. The point is, even if you hit your target with a bullet, he can still inflict a death blow to you before he succumbs to his gunshot wound.

  • While I'm no expert, I've watched quite a few knife defense vids. And it seems to me the most practical method for defending yourself is basiclaly football moves. Just like in football, try to avoid being tackled. Juke, fake, run away, stiff arm. You simply need to do everything you can to get away while also pulling out your self-defense tool like a gun. Just like a QB avoiding a sack. And you gotta shoot like crazy while getting the heck out of there. The karate crap won't work in my opinion.

  • Also, most guys aren't going to slash like this guy did. They're just going to bum rush you and try try to stab you dozens of times in the body and anywhere else they can. I've seen videos of pirson stabbings. And that's what they always do. They just come at you with full force stabbing you repeatedly, sometimes even hundreds of times in every place imaginable, until you're clearly dead. Fancy martial arts techniques won't save you then in my opinion.

  • You just gotta freaking book it and create enough distance to where you can grab something to keep that distance like a chair or a weapon if you have one on you. Use your instincts. Don't try to use stupid kungfu moves. And don't curl up in a ball and take the stabbings. You gotta fight like an animal to get away from your attacker and stay away. And try to keep your vital organs out of harms way. And get medical attention as soon as possible before you bleed to death.

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix what you are missing is that the way he is slashing is calculated and controlled. generally aimed at the points in the body that are deadly with a knife. far more dangerous that someone stabbing at random. the guy stabbing at random may get lucky and hit something vital in the first few stabs, but the guy who knows what he's doing isn't gonna rely on luck. I'm talking people with real training in weapon and knife fighting. I'm actually watching this video for the knife stuff

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix oh I also just noticed something. saying 'fancy martial arts techs' indicates to me that you are going off of movie/Hollywood martial arts or the commercial/unrealistic styles that are WAY too popular. when looking at styles, don't fall for flash (except that is what a lot of kung fu styles are trying to do, the flash is to distract the person and sneak a strike in while they're thrown off by ur weird movements. not my thing lol.) the good styles focus on ending it quickly

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix with as little extra movement as possible. basically speed, efficiency, and good reactions and timing. and this is after doing everything you can to avoid having to do it. if you can, get away, if you can't, subdue him to the point that you can. and then get away. don't hang around and give him a chance to get you. you can even make a judgment call and decide if it's kill or be killed. in that case, definitely get outta there right away and don't make a scene.

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix I agree 100%. There is actually a video that shows a scenario knife attack inside of an elevator. The attack is viscious like a prison inmate would do and the defense is simple...kick and push like crazy!!!! It actually seems to work at reducing the body stabs. The victim still gets cut but the stabs get reduced to slashes do to the distance created. It aint pretty martial arts but it looked like it worked for the regular person more than anything I have seen so far.

  • wow due cool video.. ive heard of the 21ft rule and it's crazy how quick someone can close the distance on you especially if you're unprepared.

  • @mixwell1983 People dont realize just how deadly a simple low tech knife can be until they see it in action. Thats one of the reasons why I posted this video on my channel. Most cops and gun carrying citizens instinctively get way too close to certain threats out of lack of knowledge or even ego. I have let a few suspicious people stand too close to me before who I later found out hand a history of assaulting police officers and had hepatitis C that he got from prison. Its an eye opener for sure

  • @mixflip -Yah i totally agree man, if you think you're bulletproof because you ccw you're wrong. I cannot CCW in los angeles county but if i could i would highly follow this.. i guess maybe i myself should carry a knife since it is actually legal..

  • @mixflip You are so right and thank you for posting.

  • Great video, a real eye-opener.

  • eye opening thanks for sharing...

  • mixflip! Your the best! Thanks for the educational videos man!

  • good video! Good to remember.

  • And also keep in mind that an attacker fueled on adrenaline and drugs may not necassarily be stopped by 2 shots to center mass.

  • @Transporter1022 Very true. I posted a video on that very issue. Check out my 21ft fail video and you see a guy successfully stab 3 cops even after he is shot.

  • Love your informative vids! Stay safe and stay focused!

  • Dan Isanto has a studio near here. Didn't he train with Bruce Lee?

  • @LeonRFpoa He helped Bruce with his Filipino stick fighting techniques and in exchange Bruce taught Dan his mindset on Jeet Kun Do. At least thats what I have heard? Dan is a legend in the art of knife and stick fighting. Thats pretty cool that he has a studio near you. I'd love to train with him even one day with a legend like him.

  • Dan was one of Bruce's top students & one of only three that Bruce trusted to run one of his schools (only he & Taky Kimura are still around, James Y Lee passed away a few monthes before Bruce). Of course Mr. Inosanto also studied under many, many other martial arts masters & is himself one of the most respected (yet humble) teachers around. I've only met him at one of his seminars but I'd recommend him as a teacher to anyone who's willing to learn.

  • @LeonRFpoa Dan was one of the bad guys in Bruce Lee's last film, Game of Death. He was the guy that got an x slashed to his forehead by Bruce Lees switch stick. Dan also worked with Steven Segal in Out for Justice. Here is the scene.

  • @LeonRFpoa Dan Inosanto is one of Bruce Lee's three original students. He's over 70 now, and is still awesome. I went to a seminar he did last April... Whoa. He can still kick some serious ass.

  • @LeonRFpoa Dan Inosanto was Bruce Lee's protege and taught many of the classes while Bruce Lee was away doing movie stuff.
