  • Personally my favorite hellblazer story is the one where constantine puts a demon in the body of a mob bosses dead child. I forgot the name

  • I've been a fan of garth ennis since I read punisher #2, it was a hilarious team-up (if you can call it that) between the punisher and spider-man and it was one of the few comics I read over and over again and it always made me laugh. Since then I have read almost everything he has ever written, no one does dark humor better than him.

  • The only complaint I have about Mr Ennis' work, is that when he leaves a comic book to pursue other projects, it becomes...bland.It becomes"not Ennis".One exception is the Punisher Max series. They laid Frank to rest beautifully.

  • Being an aspiring comic book writer and artist from Northern Ireland, Garth is a huge inspiration.

  • Anyone point me in the direction of a steve dillon interview? He's very illusive. any info would be a great help.

  • DzhON KONSTENTAJN

  • PREACHER is Ennis' best work to date. It is the stuff of genius. Has anybody noticed that the who's who of vertigo comics have all worked on Hellblazer? Delano, Ennis, Azzarello, Carey, Mina, Milligan etc etc...

  • @Vikasthegunner

Don't forget Alan moore and Neil Gaiman. However what you should be pointing out is that nearly everyone one of these great writers are BRITISH. I guess we know where real talent comes form.

  • @rencrow

Don't be a douche. The majority of the best comic writers are from America, and i still wouldn't say something so cunty as what you did.

  • Dangerous Habits saga is one of the best graphic novels ever created

  • preacher is his best, hope they make a movie of it and not fuck it up

  • Has anyone read his run on "The Demon"? Very, Very good!!! Don't understand why it hasn't been released collected (TPB).

  • mehrrrrrr

  • An issue of hellblazer featuring swamp thing comes to mind where he grows a huge pot plant in seconds! I knew he was a smoker from that - but its really great to hear him tell how stopping smoking gave great results - you are an inspiration to keep off it! Much respect due, you are the man!

  • he is truelly an inspiration, i glad you read him right...i wana watch the movie and learn or discover any SUPER great result

  • Punisher MAX 1-60...GREAt WORK....

Garth Ennis is a true genius....his work is absolutely awesome!!! I dont know HOW he comes up with this stuff...SERIOUSLY...I wish he had continued doing the Punisher max series...!!!

  • @Tuffadandem The punisher max is the best thing hes done. I dont think Marvel should have continued it without him.

  • @Tuffadandem He smokes pot, thats where his ideas come from.

  • @Zamudiokid He actually quit smoking weed years ago... hence why his stories are always on time... a great imagination with the aid of pot is often fleeting and forgetful. But he's still great as far as I'm concerned... sober or not.

  • @Tuffadandem ever tried PREACHER???? :)

  • "Alan Murre"

    tihihihi

  • I thought he is more skinny...

  • I've been reading Garth Ennis' work on Hitman recently. It's such a great read, and one of the few series that actually made me care about the characters.

  • @gummybrain try preacher

  • @gummybrain Also be sure to check out The Boys, which does for superheros what Preacher did for religion.

  • @gummybrain best comic ever ;) absolutely my favourite

  • The way he pronounced "Moore" made me laugh. "Mure"

  • hahahahaha....the pot part cracked me up.

  • personally Preacher is my favorite comic ever along with Y the last man, watchmen and other ones that i cant be bothered to name

  • "dangerous habits" is for me one of the greatest comics ever written ,it is really intresting to see a comic charector having to deal with the inevitablity of death ,altough i found the ending to be a slight cop out ,with the john constantine charector it was probably the only way to finish the story ,:)

  • "John Constantine is a character created by Alan Murrr...."

Lol, but seriously, Ennis is awesome. I loved Preacher, and I loved The Boys. No one does violent absurdity as well as Ennis.

  • hahaha, what a cool accent.

  • It's actually a pretty subtle accent, as they go.

  • ye noticed that too, like his scottish accent is very miniscule

  • Is he Scottish or Irish? I thought it was the latter, but I could be wrong.

  • Wikipedia says he was born in Holywood Northern Ireland.

  • he's from Belfast

  • I love how all his work is absurdly violent.

    I fucking love it!

  • Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrsefaaaaaaaaaaaace!

  • One of the best moments I've ever seen in comics, that. Massive tension, guns being pulled, high tragedy, and then..."That fella's got a face like an arse".

    Genius.

  • hahaha yes

  • Ranks with Alan Moore in my opinion. Fuckin' fearless bastard, God love him.

  • Ennis and Dillon doing Constantine... god I've gotta find it! lol

  • buy the trade

  • this guy rocks..totaly badass take no prisoners

  • I always really liked Will Simpson's Hellblazer art myself and really think Garth's being a little hard on it,

Not that Steve Dillon's take on John Constantine isn't great itself.

Regardless I really hope sometime Garth will give us another Hellblazer story someday.

  • I don't think that he was taking potshots at Simpson's work or anything, just saying that he didn't think that it suited what he we aiming for in his run on the book.
