Fantastic song! who watched this on TBS in the early 90's with Vampire Hunter D, Robot Carnival, American Pop and Rock and Rule? i did when i was 12 about 18 years ago and loved them. I bought this movie when i was 15 when it hit video along with Akira and Ghost in The Shell, as they were my fave animated movies as a teenager and i still adore them at 29. I even own this bitchin' soundtrack at 15 as well.

loved this movie since i was 11 in 1993 when i was watching one friday night when i looked in the TV guide for what good Sci-fi, horror or fantasy movie might come out and this was it, i loved it even though it was censored for family viewing. I bought it in 1996 when i was 14 and i loved it more, it's one of my favorite movies. Who else thought it influenced both Fifth Element and Avatar? James Cameron and Luc Besson are big fans of the magazine comic and movie.

@verdemanthe1 if your interested, my band has original heavy metal on it which has got a definately 80s vibe to it. Its our first trip to the studio though so theyre only previews :( sorry
@acepilot1997 what I meant by that is metal music that doesnt sound like the soundtrack to your worst nightmare, like this song makes me think about perfect titties and flying fortresses,I hear some "real metal" and it straight up sounds like demons assaulting your eardrums, and im like what the fuck was that ,youd have ta be some kind of psycho to enjoy that
@verdemanthe1 But listen to motorhead, it isn't all "RAAAAAAAAAH" all the time, motorhead is real nice metal, they have some fast paced songs, with screaming guitars and crap, but not drop C all the time, drop C is alright once and a while, but it gets sooo annoying.
Seems to me that you are denying Heavy Metal some of its fullness. There are many many sides to the genre, it's better to embrace them rather than deny their relevence or insult their listeners by calling them "some kind of psycho"... although some people probably consider it a compliment coming alongside other such closed minded comments!
@Satantransvertdeath so let me get this straight, to you metal is all about demons fucking your earholes, and you dig that apparently, whatever floats your boat man,it dont float mine and thats all i was sayin.some people dont enjoy someone screaming at their face from up close and i guess somepeople do.some people dont like music that sounds like dropping guitars and pig snorts and some people do.
You're just making straw-man arguements about a genre you happen to dislike. Demons fucking your earholes? Someone might say that if they got overexcited and couldnt express themselves properly, but I dont know...
Besides, my point was that extreme metal is a valid form of metal AS WELL AS oldschool/traditional heavy metal. In fact, I tend to prefer the oldschool metal as well (Black Sabbath and Judas Priest being very high on my list)
Okay, that's fine. I just thought you sounded a little harsh on some of those comments. There's a lot of extreme metal that I dont like either, so I can relate.
@verdemanthe1 Listen to Slough Feg, I know exactly how you feel. They are otherwise known as the lord weird slough feg. try listening to their album traveller. like half of their songs are gold
None of the music on this soundtrack is actually Metal. It's mostly light to hard rock, a few pop songs, and some New Wave. They were well into the metal era when they made the movie so I'm sure they could have found better examples of metal than Devo or Don Fagen. Steely Dan is metal? Ha Ha Ha!
hey renegadeangel92 war is NOT cool you retard, people die, thousands of families are left with no father, thousands of children become orphans and those people loose too much even if they're on the winning side...only a douche could think war is "fun"
Love this track Riggs with Roy Thomas Baker handling production. I never saw Riggs live, but I certainly was into Jerry Riggs when he was playing in The Pat Travers Band (80's and 90's). What a great Guitarist. Jerry would still sing the Riggs song "Ready Or Not" in the Pat Travers set right after his amazing (and I truly mean it) guitar solo. Everything from shredding modes to Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue.
song is cool and documentary is valuable, but u shouldn't pair them-this way it looks like someone is having fun bombing (probably German cities) and people bombed are also enjoying themselves. In US there was no war in 20th century! u haven't got any idea what is war.both of my grandfathers were fighter-bomber plane pilots (one of them became Lieutenant-General, almost became Hero of Soviet Army).as for their friends joined infantry-most of them died at battle front.
Yeah at one stage I wanted to do the same, but modern warfare is not as simple as it looks. Who's to say you won't come back without a limb, or with depleted uranium poisoning or exposure to some other strange toxins that are ubiquitous when you blow up modern structures. I'm just saying, war is dirty and bad for your health today.
I always thought this was the best tune on the soundtrack. Although Cheap Trick's jam was pretty damn good, too.

Cool comment, man. The war in Europe could not have been won without B-29's or their Lancaster counterparts.
gelatinouslove 2 years ago
The planes are B-17's. The B-29 was only used in the Pacific, to bomb the Japanese
keystone117 2 years ago
Those bombers look impressive in the vid, ut they were chopped to bits over Europe, and as many as 60 a day were shot down.

I'd love it if one of the local radio stations ever played it. I've never heard the song on the radio.

Hell fucking yeah man. This was always my favorite song on Heavy Metal, along with Heavy Metal (Takin' A Ride).

song is cool and documentary is valuable, but u shouldn't pair them-this way it looks like someone is having fun bombing (probably German cities) and people bombed are also enjoying themselves. In US there was no war in 20th century! u haven't got any idea what is war.both of my grandfathers were fighter-bomber plane pilots (one of them became Lieutenant-General, almost became Hero of Soviet Army).as for their friends joined infantry-most of them died at battle front.
WAR ISn't fun-it's TRAGIC

war is fun if you are on the winning side, if not, IS SERIOUS BUSINESSSSSSS
hectorflamebo 3 years ago
Yeah at one stage I wanted to do the same, but modern warfare is not as simple as it looks. Who's to say you won't come back without a limb, or with depleted uranium poisoning or exposure to some other strange toxins that are ubiquitous when you blow up modern structures. I'm just saying, war is dirty and bad for your health today.
