  • actually heating plexiglass is not uncommon. it is a type of thermoplastic, a series of plastics that can be molded into any shape when heated. try usin vacuform

  • How much of the bottom of the can do u cut??!!??

  • Can the plexiglass be used to make the visor of the other daft punk helmet?

  • Does anyone know where to buy a light green visor?

  • Really nice! One of the best instructional vids so far. You can also use the microwave for heating up lexan and acrylic to bend it. I use round objects such as jars and bowls, wearing mechanics gloves to shape it. Great work, just get a led scroller off ebay to add to the visor and you got it. You could also add some neon wire to it later. Lots of stuff like that on ebay. Thanks for posting, Rampage

  • i need soom help and ps i'm not realy rosemire721 i'm her brother

  • Where did you buy the bondo? Also is bondo the only thing you used to harden it?

  • anything on LED's o_o?

  • how much did it cost to make?

  • For a second I was going to say if you guys are using cardboard to make this, then you have no idea what you're doing, but then I saw it was a school project.

Which makes it a cool idea for a project. I'm considering making a more professional one

  • @MufinMcFlufin Whats wrong with carboard? Its light, Durable if layered/treated, and easy to work with.

  • @vBlogmiscarrage

Durable if layered/treated, but only to an extent.

It doesn't always look very good, and most importantly (for what would be my needs) it's flammable. One short in a circuit and the whole thing would go up in flames. There are other, better suited materials than paper-reinforced paper.

  • thanks man, I love daft punk and I really appreciate the time people like you put out to make these.

  • how do u know how make the Top and Bottom part of the helmet at 0:29

  • Look, don't know how stupid people are but the song is television rules the nation/around the world, it's on their "alive" album, bunch of posers, crescendolls is the outro because the alive album blends into basically one track, they usually play the contents of their alive album at gigs (best gig of my life @ O2 wireless)

  • What about the other daft punk member?

  • @iOrange07 Thanks for your ideas:D Set the oven on around 170Celcius and leave it there,, check every minute if you can bend it already. It took us around 5 minutes but that depends on the thickness of your plexiglass. Tip: Use gloves!xD

If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

  • @beerpongmasterss

Hi dude i loved your idea! i hae made one but Where can i buy plasti glass ?

    how much does it cost?

  • @lazersnake3000 i made one on a different video my video of it is on my channel

  • @jvanhuesen 500$ is the cheapest I've seen and I don't know if it had LEDs in it. Do u remember where u saw them for 400, and if it had working LEDs?

  • @lazersnake3000 We can sell the one in the vid + working leds for $500 if you want:)

helmet and having carboard and paper gat any tips?

  • @beerpongmasterss how do u make the thig that hold the plexiglass

  • Anyone know where I can buy one with working LEDs? Hopefully for no more than $150?

  • @lazersnake3000 You could possibly make one for that much, but to purchase, $400+ is what I've seen as most are fan-made.

  • They go for $65,000 for real ones, official daft punk merchandise.

  • Other one goes for $400 on ebay. =]

  • spammmm voooor nick :)

  • I made this helmet, went down to an electronic store, got an LED scroller for a hundred bucks, spent three days conforming it to the helmet, and now I'm trying to figure out how to see through it

  • Haha it sounds nice, we had trouble with the vision too,

  • is there a way to fix the vision problem because i will be at a dance with this on and how long did it take?

  • The only thing I can come up with is placing the leds a little more up so you can look underneath it..

  • k thank you for your help this is one of the best tutorials i found

  • Lol. You should add a FML to the end of that.

  • Hey I was thinking on the visor maybe you could put a LED scroller belt

  • Yes we've already done that. it looks cool:) Thanks for your comment

  • omg.. ppl. this song is television rules the nation/ crescendolls. dont beleive me, look it up.

  • where can you get some plexiglass?

  • @FiveDoubleUs

    local hardware store maybe

  • nice work!

  • plz tell me what bondo does! not to be rude

  • @FiveDoubleUs

It covers al the cardboard edges and some tape, and it makes the helmet quite sturdy

  • Hey guys! Please respond.

Where did you buy your plexiglass? And do the ears actually cover your own ears?

  • @ThePooptet

Sorry for late response, we got the plexiglass from our school but I think you can buy it at most hardwarestores. And the ears are not covering my own ears,

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks:) and yes i have seen such tape at home depot. I thought it would be really hard to get it on nice and tight. But sanding?0.o Does that really work? Would certaily be worth a try. Can you make a video of your results? Thanks for commenting:)

  • u can keep up to date with my progress with my other account called daftpunkrulzs it shows it being made

  • it dosent look that sturdy but good work i just need to keep sanding which is the hard work and then paint

  • 20.000 view yay

  • very cool, but how many minuetes did you leave the plexiglass on the microwave

  • knap werk ;D

  • looks awesome! still a bit bumpy in areas though

  • hey plz answer this um cuz im maing one wat type of card board did u use?

we hebben al 14000 views :)

    met een schoolproject nogwel :)

  • it's amazingly awesome but the shape of it is a lvl bit to long but for a homemade helmet it's pretty darn awesome :P

  • a baseball helmit makes a great base its super strong and has the right shape

  • Comment removed

  • how do you make the visor

  • melting plexiglass

  • The material you are using is not the right material for making helmets and just by using a bike helmet its a bad quality, if you want to make something better use better quality materials and I am sure you will get a WAY better result.

  • What material are you thinking of then? Im trying to make a mold and than make a plastic thermoformed one but its quite hard to do.

  • Plastic I am sure it can work really good with acrylic It will be harder yes but I think you can get it way better =].

  • w00000t 11000 views (H)

  • its shit to be frank

  • are they fragile???

  • im going to make one, i've got most of the things you need

  • hey what is bondo, is it a type of plaster

  • automobile scratch filler

  • oh ok, do you know what type of store i would get it from, like a hardware or something?

  • go to like a car supply store, like pepboys, autozone, maybe a hardware store.

  • oh ok cool, is it a fragile substance? haha sorry for all the questions!

  • Well, sorta, it's pretty tough, but I wouldn't advise that you drop it. It may chip, so you should paint over it, fiberglass, or take any other precautions.

  • well thats good enough for me, cause im making it and i just wanted to get some info before making it, thanks for the help

  • can't wait to see it.

  • haha yeah, cause im having it for a costume party for my birhtday. I will take some photos na dput it up

  • sounds awesome

  • is the plexi glass black(like the real one)? and please post a video about how it looks with the leds! really wanna get one! ps. how many characters can u type in to show on the "display"?

  • Ye it is transparant black plexi glass. because its dark inside the helmet they cant see your eyes.. Subscribe us! we will post a video of the finished one later on. I dont know acctually how many characters but its a beltbucket from lightshirt(dot)nl (we are from nl:))
