damn, 5w and can play slayer, what more can you ask?
great for home use
buttttttttttt are you using a pedal? it seems as the guitar is plugged straight to the amp, if so I will probably buy this amp (after hearing it live)
@omsata it has more than enough gain for slayer, i promise. just dont buy it with the stock blackstar cabs, they kinda suck ass. the head and a decent 2*12 will kick ass, i'm getting it tomorrow.
I wish my sloppy playing was as good as yours dude. I tried one of these amps through a 1x10 cab it comes with last week and I thought it was fantastic for the money (£300 half stack) We're using a line 6 spider 75 at the moment and its been ok, in fact its a good practice amp with a range of sounds at the press of a button, but all the guitars sound the same from a strat to an EMG equipped tele.
Hey dude, I've been wondering... for a 5w amp head. Can this really compete in gigs? Cause right now I'm running a ad120vth at about 30w (master on full), and i could barely hear myself cause the other guys are quite loud as well.
My blunt thinking is just... it couldn't, but since I don't have this unit, I'm always just wondering haha.
I have a 200 watt marshall major I play with the master on 10 and its not loud enough. I'm thinking about going to a 5 watt amp, I think that might solve the problem. What do you think?
With a really tight 4*12 you start to move allot of air, which means higher volumes, so yes, you can get it pretty loud.. but enough for a gig? Not without putting a microphone in front of it.. but it will probably due for rehearsals(IF you use a really sealed 4*12.).
You're comparing 30 solid state watts to 5 tube watts, which is not a fair comparison. My mesa tube amp running in 15w mode is loud as fuck, it can keep up with a drummer with master on 2.
I,ve got the randall 2x12 with a randall 100 watt solid state ,,,,but dam love the blackstar through it,,,freaking waiting time to get one is nuts,,, worth the wait?
Just curious, was this plugged into that Randall 2x12 or the top 1x12 cab? I did sound a little thin, but that may be due to the camera microphone, or the youtube compression.
What's the name of the first song you play with the chugging riff? Sounds so familiar. I'm thinking Metallica? Megadeth? Possibly Pantera? Lol my music library is so large I can't tell.
Man im so ready to order one of these guys, how would you rate the clean channel? I love the Fender blues Jr, but wanted the dirty of a marshall. Is the clean a pretty good tone for slow blues or should I look elsewhere?
Your videos made me decide to buy this head. Now I'm waiting for a 2x12 with v30, then I'll "friendly" post a video response to show the whole world what insane piece of kit you can buy for 500€ these days. Cheers!
By the way, judging by the hearable sound of your pick hitting the strings the volume must have been very neighbour-friendly! What cab are you using it with, the randall 2x12?
Wow I really need to get rid of these Blackstar 1x10 cabs that came with the head!! Definately an amazing amp with the right speakers!

The amp looks as mean as the tone with a touch of british class.

Bloody cheap over here too. Might get one when I get some more money, just as a bit of a change from my 100watt JCM 900.
