The Bandit has the most torque and the Blackbird has the best top end. Two great bikes; I've owned both. The Bandit will win from 0-140km/h, after that the Blackbird will eat it for lunch. The 600s are great bikes but would lose an acceleration race any day to these two. On twisty roads but, the 600s would leave the other two for dead.
And that's why, on the street, "torquey" is always better than "peaky". I test rode a B1250 once... I had a hard time keeping the front wheel on the ground.
I bought a brand new 07 1250s bandit, after 3 years and over 9,000 miles. I know a little about the bike. It's plenty fast, handles decent, brakes very well. I have had it to 140mph and it had plenty more to go. I seen a video of Dale Walker high speed run of 170mph. Is it the king hell no, but with the right rider, It will hold it's own with anything from 0 to 130mph. You don't have to rev it up to go, the power is there at any rpm. Over all, Under estimate the Bandit at your own risk
I own a Bandit 1250FA right now and owned a 2007 Blackbird up until March this year. In stock form the Bandit is quicker in the lower revs up to about 6000rpm. After that, the Blackbird will beat it. If you remove the bloody secondary butterflies from the Bandit, it opens up nicely however, and with a good exhaust and power commander it will probably keep up with the Bird.The 600's are cool but they only have about half the torque of the big bikes so forget about it.
Video's don't lie! It's obvious that the Bandit smoked all the other bikes. Why keep dreaming? Face reality and give the Bandit some credit.

While it's a nice bike and I'm happy with it, it does not "RULE" it's ONLY 100HP stock.
It's quick off the line but starts to labor over 120mph and the top end is only about 135 (it indicates 145 but the stock speedo is about 10mph off) Note the vid DOES NOT show what happened at the END of the race!! LOL!!
@oct28th1985 I currently own a CBR1100, a ZRX1200 and a YZF600. I spent 4 years riding a ZX9 2002 spec., and 1 summer riding a Banditt 1200. So I feel I'am a bit qualified to speak on this. There is no way...(all respect to the ZX6R) but no way... ANY of these bikes will keep pace with the big CBR once it crosses 8000 RPMS in second.

I have an 07 Bandit 1250. It's scary fast. Not much horsepower but the torque is unreal! It's comfortable for long trip too.
As soon as you hit the corners the 600s will dust the 1250. My Ninja 650 is not as fast on the straights but as soon as you hit the corners it's effortless compared to the Suzuki. The Bandit is a handful as soon as the corners get tight.

i got a zx6r, i used it everyday for work and collage for a year and half and put 15,000 on the clock, but a bandit 1200 is starting to make sense pratical, cheap and most of all fun!
Just got my new 1250S ABS in silver yesterday. I've put 350km's down so far. Just desperate to get it run-in. Awesome bike. I just love it. Needs a touring seat though. A yoshi slip-on would be nice too.

I added 4 teeth to the rear sprocket and lengthened the chain to move the wheel back in the stock swingarm which helps even more. That, plus,VERY BASIC intake/exhaust mods,She still rips off the line, wheelies on command, and runs up to 145 mph on the gps. After about 135 sportbikes rip by me like I am sitting still, I let off before they can shame me:) Keep em guessing!!!Ha Ha. My Sport Touring bike, love it!
Besides, where are you going to (legally) hit 145+? The Bandit's got plenty of real-world power, moreso than most of the sportbikes... and they're cheaper! I still say she's one of the best-kept secrets on the market.

Agreed... and for several thousand less than the "superbikes"! Fuel injection, anti-lock brakes and that insane torque, right around $9,000 USD. Can't beat it.
I have an 09 Bandit. If you add a fuel box, pipe and flies out, plus K&N, you can add 27 hp.
now you are looking at about 130 HP with gobs of torque.
It's a fun bike.
