I must mention that I love Tom Hanks as well...just about every one of his movies. He is a great actor. I saw this movie a few times as a child (don't know why I didn't own it...MOM...lol) and finally saw it again maybe 5 years ago and forgot he was in it. It was a pleasant surprise. He's fantastic! I got the DVD for Christmas a couple years ago from my cousin. I was so excited about that lol.

Love love love this movie, have since I was a very young child. My favorite part was the beginning of this video until 2:30, everything about it was just so mesmerizing, and still is. Everything was perfect. The music, the beautiful and vibrant sea life.  The way her hair moved under the water. The way it was filmed, the way Darryl swam. Darryl Hannah portrayed the mermaid perfectly. I would always try to swim like that, but I can't perfect it like she did. :)

@spectrala I just loved this movie, and still do! I think I was only about a year old when it came out, but I saw it when I was a bit older. I remember watching it on tv with my mom. I loved mermaids. How cute about the garbage bags. I don't think I ever thought to do anything like that, I would just try to swim the way she did and imagine I had a tail. :) The good old days...

I was working at the LA produce market that the produce scenes were filmed at and Ron Howard asked me to stay after work one day to help him film a part where Hanks and a customer are arguing over a pallet of cherries, I'm the guy that is stapling boxes in the background. Wonderful experience,Howard,Hanks very kind and normal,never saw much of Candy.Hanks and a crew guy at one point had a jam session with hanks playing spoons and the other guy the ukelele good stuff.
