NFL players are bigger, stronger, faster and more skilled. CFL is still a good game and most players are from the US out of college or didnt make the NFL. It would be like comparing the NHL to say the AHL. If you love football you can appreciate both but the NFL is definitely a more competitive league

@kcougar12 Of course their is no competition, the CFL is considered a development league for the NFL, tons of NFL players who do not get signed for another year do a few years in the CFL then go back to the NFL. Look at Doug Flutie. The NHL, MLB and others have minors. NFL does not have any minor teams... The CFL gives both Americans and Canadians out of college a chance to develop their skills for a chance back to the NFL. NFL has larger players bigger hits, CFL lighter faster running game.

@SuperVancouverBC If the CFL grew a larger fan base in Canada then the teams would make more money and the players can get paid more. the average Argo game fills by 20-30 thousand a game when the Rogers Center can hold 50 thousand. 20-30 thousand is enough to keep the game solid but not enough for higher pay on top of that the T.V ratings.

Same with most of the other players, what makes the game faster is that the field has bigger dimensions than and NFL field, so there is more room to move and run.

the CFL is a great league to watch, it has harder hits because there is a lesser chance of getting fined, lots of passing, and the game goes 60 min. But NFL players are much better due to the fact that they are all big and fast. a backup QB in the NFL is still superior to a starter in the CFL. even rex grossman is a better quarterback than Calvillo, who happens to be the best qb in the cFL

In fact, most former NFL QBs or QBs with NFL aspirations who try the CFL have faltered, Cleo Lemon being the latest. To be honest, most starting QBs in the CFL are just too old to be given a look at by NFL scouts. If Anthony Calvillo was younger, he most definitely would get a look from NFL teams.

I would say that athletically speaking the CFL is as good as the NFL, the difference is the average NFL player is 3"taller and weighs more while maintaining the same speed. An NFL team also has far more depth to their rosters.

I am born and raised in Toronto. Die hard Argos fan of the CFL and die-hard Dolphins fan of the NFL. (Also die-hard Gators fan in NCAA). I like both brands of football. The CFL I always compared to more of an NCAA style game. More specifically a spread offense style. CFL may not have the same quality of talent as the NFL but believe the players north of the border work hard and have alot of skill. CFL is more of a wide-open league and more willingness to experiment offensively.

Canadian Football has much better rules and faster game play than the NFL, but if only it would expand. 8 teams is too few, 16 teams would be ideal but is there sufficient interest in Canada? Canadians invented gridiron football, no matter what the Americans claim in their revisionist history of the game, and it's theirs to make their own once again. I think the only hope for making gridiron a truly world sport is to have a uniform rule-code like they do in soccer, but will this ever happen?

Rugby (called football at the time) was introduced to Canadians by the English, Americans had their own version called bollowan. When the 2 nations played a game at Harvard there were obvious differences in play. Both teams came up with some standards that were adopted by other American Colleges. But the standard that is used today by both Nations was perfected by Walter Camp at Yale University.
Watch both, like both...I'm of the opinion that although the games are quite similar...the differences are significant. Both leagues have long histories, both have large followings.

One change to the CFL I would like to see ( and to run with what Jarrett said vis-a-vis the all around nature of CFL players) is to get rid of the punter and the place kicker and have one of the "regulars" be both. Like in rugby with Percy Montgomery of RSA or Johny Wilkonson of England, playing both offence and defence and kicker.....

CFL would be good if I liked a team, but i Just have no interest...i recently turned down a chance to go to a game and the ticket was free! Also last year I went to two NFL games.... Buffalo vs Colts and Colts vs Saints...thats right I went to the SUPERBOWL....it was the best weekend of my life ( won a trip from Budweiser)

One, the NFL players are bigger, so on a kick return the bigger guys would make block so the returner could score. No lets go to the Chargers offense vs CFL team defense. Take any CFL defence, put it against the Chargers WR and Philip RIvers, doesn't stand a chance. Take the Chargers o-line and RB against the CFL D-Line and LB, doesn't stand a chance. Football is football, 3 downs or not.

So Payton Manning might be one of the best QB's in the NFL but if he played in the CFL he would have a hard time since he cant run. That's why some NFL players come to the CFL and are not good while in the NFL they were good. And yes NFL players are bigger and stronger but CFL players are faster in an overall rate combining the whole team. Also for QB's they would have to get use to the extra man.

Technically the CFL could be considered more exciting if you count all the mistakes that change the pace/outcome of the games. Fumbles, dropped interceptions, missed tackles, or blocked kicks are common occurences in the CFL. Some people consider this fun to watch but this is not football at its best. @kcougar12 Of course their is no competition, the CFL is considered a development league for the NFL, tons of NFL players who do not get signed for another year do a few years in the CFL then go back to the NFL. Look at Doug Flutie. The NHL, MLB and others have minors. NFL does not have any minor teams... The CFL gives both Americans and Canadians out of college a chance to develop their skills for a chance back to the NFL. NFL has larger players bigger hits, CFL lighter faster running game.

Doug Flutie is a prime example, in 1990 he was dropped from the NFL, came up here and played for the BC Lions, he played for a few CFL teams won a few grey cups then in 98 he returned to the NFL. NFL has bigger money so if players can they play in the NFL. Highest played NFL players are in the double digit millions, CFL are in the 6 figures

@SuperVancouverBC If the CFL grew a larger fan base in Canada then the teams would make more money and the players can get paid more. the average Argo game fills by 20-30 thousand a game when the Rogers Center can hold 50 thousand. 20-30 thousand is enough to keep the game solid but not enough for higher pay on top of that the T.V ratings.

Same with most of the other players, what makes the game faster is that the field has bigger dimensions than and NFL field, so there is more room to move and run.

the CFL is a great league to watch, it has harder hits because there is a lesser chance of getting fined, lots of passing, and the game goes 60 min. But NFL players are much better due to the fact that they are all big and fast. a backup QB in the NFL is still superior to a starter in the CFL. even rex grossman is a better quarterback than Calvillo, who happens to be the best qb in the cFL

In fact, most former NFL QBs or QBs with NFL aspirations who try the CFL have faltered, Cleo Lemon being the latest. To be honest, most starting QBs in the CFL are just too old to be given a look at by NFL scouts. If Anthony Calvillo was younger, he most definitely would get a look from NFL teams.

I would say that athletically speaking the CFL is as good as the NFL, the difference is the average NFL player is 3"taller and weighs more while maintaining the same speed. An NFL team also has far more depth to their rosters.

I am born and raised in Toronto. Die hard Argos fan of the CFL and die-hard Dolphins fan of the NFL. (Also die-hard Gators fan in NCAA). I like both brands of football. The CFL I always compared to more of an NCAA style game. More specifically a spread offense style. CFL may not have the same quality of talent as the NFL but believe the players north of the border work hard and have alot of skill. CFL is more of a wide-open league and more willingness to experiment offensively.

Canadian Football has much better rules and faster game play than the NFL, but if only it would expand. 8 teams is too few, 16 teams would be ideal but is there sufficient interest in Canada? Canadians invented gridiron football, no matter what the Americans claim in their revisionist history of the game, and it's theirs to make their own once again. I think the only hope for making gridiron a truly world sport is to have a uniform rule-code like they do in soccer, but will this ever happen?

Rugby (called football at the time) was introduced to Canadians by the English, Americans had their own version called bollowan. When the 2 nations played a game at Harvard there were obvious differences in play. Both teams came up with some standards that were adopted by other American Colleges. But the standard that is used today by both Nations was perfected by Walter Camp at Yale University.

The best players are actually good solid Canadian players and underated American players who'd get stuck on the practice roster because of bias coaching in the NFL.
There just as many dropped passes and terrible throws, and missed tackles in the NFL as there are in a CFL game, and the guys make a lot more money. CFL would be good if I liked a team, but i Just have no interest...i recently turned down a chance to go to a game and the ticket was free! Also last year I went to two NFL games.... @A08SPORTS I think you meant to say that the CFL would be better if the players were actually pro calibre. Face it, the CFL consist of players who couldn't make the NFL. It's like going to see a minor league baseball game.

@A08SPORTS That's definately true, but only the biggest,richest cities in Canada have frenchises, but if I was a billionaire, I would definately expand and make some more teams. Probably in Halifax, cause the Maritimes need some teams to cheer for XD.

@mikhail532 There's different downs and dimensions of the field. But if you play it that way, it harder on a defence to play 4 downs, and harder on offense to score on a 10 yard end zone. Based on that, and just what ive seen from the CFL, NFL players have flat out more talent, from QB to RB. To just blocking. They don't call the SUperbowl champions the WORLD champions for nothing.

did i say CFL players were better then NFL players NO. Now lets put it this way it would be harder for an offence to play with 3 downs. players would not be use to playing with a larger football.players have to return the ball on punts which it would be harder for the kicking team to keep them back in there zone.and all QB's have to be able to run theres no CFL QB that cant scramble.also it would be harder for a defence to stop the offence with a larger field.Yes the NFL does have better players

@mikhail532 Here's my point. Lets say we take the Chargers and we take a CFL team and play with CFL rules. One, the NFL players are bigger, so on a kick return the bigger guys would make block so the returner could score. No lets go to the Chargers offense vs CFL team defense. Take any CFL defence, put it against the Chargers WR and Philip RIvers, doesn't stand a chance. Take the Chargers o-line and RB against the CFL D-Line and LB, doesn't stand a chance. Football is football, 3 downs or not.

Here's my point. NFL players are better the CFL players CFL players are the guys who didnt make the NFL. I love the NFL and know all the players, in the CFL the QB's all have to scramble and tell me have you even watched the CFL before

@mikhail532 did u know theres a few cfl players playing in the nfl right now? that came from the cfl! Brandon Browner cant remember which team he plays for in the NFL. but he used to play for the calgary stampeders so get ur facts right hes a one of the best defensive tackles in the nfl lol

So Payton Manning might be one of the best QB's in the NFL but if he played in the CFL he would have a hard time since he cant run. That's why some NFL players come to the CFL and are not good while in the NFL they were good. And yes NFL players are bigger and stronger but CFL players are faster in an overall rate combining the whole team. Also for QB's they would have to get use to the extra man.

@mikhail532 That's why good NFL QBs don't scramble. THey sit high in the pocket and deliver good throws. Scrambling is only a last second resort.

@TheMagicBolt They call Superbowl Champions the WORLD champions because in American atlases the USA is the only country on every page. Seriously, how can a team be called the WORLD champions when they never play against any other teams from around the world? Same thing for baseball.
League Champions, NFL Champions, American Football Champions, sure. World Champions? Not until the championship is contested by other than American teams.

NFL is considered the best football league in the world by a long long shot, so they are called world champions. As for your Atlas nonsense..... Every Atlas has a map of the world, so every atlas has a map of their country on it. But you wouldn't find the US on an a map of Africa. 1>2>3....1 is another football league, 2 is the NFL, 3 is the best team in the NFL. 3 is bigger than the rest of them.

the only reason why all of the comments saying the NFL is better have a negative rating is because most Americans don't even know the cfl exists. If more Americans knew about the cfl, there would be way more people saying the nfl is better.

i think there are a little bit of talent in certain players that play in Canada such as Andre Durie who could deff start in the NFL he is quick and has the agility of Reggie Busch. He could be making alot more than he is now even if he didnt start. Wjo knows maybe he will someday

Technically the CFL could be considered more exciting if you count all the mistakes that change the pace/outcome of the games. Fumbles, dropped interceptions, missed tackles, or blocked kicks are common occurences in the CFL. Some people consider this fun to watch but this is not football at its best. To me its like watching Tony Romo fumble snaps with the game on the line: yeah its funny and "exciting" but its not a pro-football caliber play, which makes the sport so special as it has been

I hope you enjoyed you're exciting Monday night Football game between the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens...talkabout a cure for insomnia...terrible game, terrible teams, terrible entertainment. There must have been a lot of drunks in the stands,...because the garbage on the field would not take away their attention from the booze...I like football, but the NFL as a corporate entity and a business is the most overated entertainment industry in the world. No tailgating = No NFL popularity.
