This was back when 5 minute long social sections were acceptable to the common listener. Instrumentalists were appreciated too instead of just the singer. It's sad to see that that time has passed.
@theshoe124 I haven't heard the term "social sections" used before. Please explain. (I'm merely interested and curious) I agree with your post, heartily.
My dad died last year on Dec 8 and he is the reason why i like the Doors. If it wasn`t for him then i mostly likely would`nt be doors fan as i am today. It weird he died on Jim birthday and on the day of John Lennon death.RIP Dad and Jim
Would you believe me if I tell you that I heard this song for the first time this year? And I totally love it. Just goes to show that there's no age to start liking amazing music like this ♥
I'm not trying to be a huge bitch but your comment ticked me off. If we lived in the 60's we could STILL EXPERIENCE THE MUSIC FROM THE 70's, 80's and so on. Le duh. The 60's and 70's were awesome times music-wise. And actually being there while your favourite bands are putting on legendary performances would be a treat for people who actually appreciate the art of music. The end :) Go ahead, reply with some gay ass shit that i wont even read.
For all the people who claim that they wanted to live in the 60's because of the music: you're all stupid. You live in 2011 now, which means that you can listen to all the best songs of the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's etc. on the INTERNET. The best invention since sliced bread! You didn't have that back in the 60's. So sit back and relax.
I totally get what ur saying we live in a privileged time with our unlimited access 2 info 24/7! But i'd love 2 have been there 2 experience the beginning of it all, the huge changes music & people made 2 society! If it wasnt for all of them & the way they pushed the boundaries we wouldn't have what we have 2day! Just a thought? Live on The Lizard King!
@allp84 its not the same!! imagine experiencing this LIVEEEE man.. or experiencing woodstock or the summer of love.. the internet cant give us that feel, nuthin ever will!!!!!!
@GheloPunk To want to live in the 60´s you should also experience the 50´s. I dont think that the revolutions of the 60´s came out of the blue. You also have to worry about the cold war and vietnam etc. The 60´s is not heaven on earth as everybody here thinks it is.
By listening to this good song of that time, we assume that everything was good back then, but be honest, how many 60´s songs do you really like? There was a lot of crap back then too, just like today.
@allp84 Well what about wanting to live in the 60s because of how much more open minded people were. I mean I'm only a kid still so maybe I'm close minded as well, but I can sure see from stories about the 60s (i.e Woodstock) that it was a much more relaxed and care-free environment than now days. I understand the Vietnam was going on then, but the youth movement and everything. Don't you think that the people in the 60s were much more considerate?
@allp84 i dont agree, i prefer living in that era cause i wanted to feel the music, go to their concerts, feel that im in the 60s, with no crappy music around like these days, i really prefer the 60s, 70s, 80s music without internet.
@teeofr22 You definitely are. I'm really sorry for all of the 14 year olds that never had and will never have the chance to see them live. I'm sorry for myself.
@allp84 But can you buy tickets to a Doors concert right now? Or a Queen concert with Freddie Mercury belting out his heart? Can you dream of getting to meet Jim Morrison or John Lennon today? It's nice- no AMAZING to have all this music available on the internet, but some of the best parts of those decades are gone.
@FabuLillianous Thats true, I regret never seeing Freddy Mercury or in that case Michael Jackson. But the thought of me having outlived those legends and therefore allowing me to enjoy all their musical work is better then the thought of me dying before ever hearing a song like Innuendo.
People die, its just in our nature. If you lived in the 60´s you might have missed other great songs.
@HeavyMetalDude166 You're right, you cant have the live experience now, but honestly, you had a really short time-frame to see Jim live. Did you see Amy Winehouse live? She was similar to Jim and I know I haven't seen her once. Not everybody who lived in the 60's saw the Doors live.
I did see a good Doors cover band though, that was a great experience, maybe you should try that.
I personally would have liked to live in the 60's and 70's for the simple fact that you can actually BE THERE whilst the bands are performing. I love Led Zeppelin, If i could actually experience what it would be like to go to one of their shows my life would be complete. Watching videos on youtube just isn't the same. Also,You'd rather liveNOW? In our CORRUPT ass world?Go play with your iPhone and watch your videos. Our society today is fucked, if you cant see it, YOU'RE the stupid one, Stupid.
@allp84 What wrong with that, 60's, 70, was a f????k awesome era to go back in time. I bet that if I invented a time machine. You would be one of the first on line hahaha. Science is close to inventing one it's just a matter of time or years. it's a question of physics. For all those nonbelievers.
@allp84 Took the words directly out of my mouth. It would have been nice to see The Doors live, but we can now listen to music from hundreds of years ago, up until this very day.
@allp84 I disagree. If you were around in the 60s you wouldn't know what you were missing. Due to the fact of "time travel" being impossible. I'm 15 and I crave to be born in the early 60s
@allp84 Yes, but back then you could have seen them live, and as we all know, music is a huge part of culture, thus making today's culture pretty shitty compared to the one back then. Can you compare Jim Morrison with any of today's so-called music icons?
FUCK THAT SHIT!i wish i have lived back in the 60's and 70's.Man!!!summer of love, rock'n'roll,LSDs!weed, dancing around a circle of fire with my hippie buddies, surfing beautiful ocean waves!!!fuck all the shit we get today, electronics, djs, fuckin politics, and religious shit!who gives a fuck what party u kick ass with or which god u believe in?we are born free mother fuckers!!THE DOORS=FUCK THE WORLD!
@vonulfkhela What, you think there wasn't any political or religious shit in the 60s and 70s? I think you're over-romanticizing a time you didn't experience for yourself
@yourmommycloset it was written by Robbie Krieger ( guitarist) Jim the in the lines "the time to hesitate is through, no time to wallow in the mire, try now we can only lose and our love become a funeral pyre"
the doors didn't have a bassist until the LA woman album ( Jerry Scheff who was Elvis's bass player) up till then Ray played bass on a second keyboard simultaneously with the melody on the vox keyboard
Thank you for posting this. Takes me back, waaayyyy back, to the Whiskey, Venice Beach and P.O.P., Sunset Blvd. and La Cienega. Can't believe it's been 42+ years. Loved this song then and still love it now. Miss you Jimmy. Miss the 60s.
Jim Morrison is absolutely amazing, he is a legend and his music will continue to live on. I have even been lucky enough to have been able to visit his grave at Pere LaChaise cemetery when I was in Paris. It turned out that it was only a ten minute walk from where my sister and I were staying. But once i actually got in there it took me nearly two hours to find it, but i was determined I wasnt going to leave until I saw it, I even took a couple of photos of it. There were heaps of flowers there.
the doors are an amazing band and him is a good band today....but comparing them is pretty stupid, jim morrison (R.I.P.) is one of a kind, ville valo has an amazing voice...thats it
you cant even compare him with the doors jim was a poet and the other guy cant even compare to him if they were battle it out if jim was still alive (rip) he would totally fuck his shit up
what is it about this song that makes it so hypnotic?

The single, when it came out was only half the length of the album version, as the
instrumental break in the middle was cut out.
Jim Morrison is buried at the Pere La Chaise cemetery in Paris.
I went there from the UK ten years to the day after his death.
There was no bassist in this band. Ray Manzarek played the bass as well as playing keyboards.

This song was not written by Jim. It was written by the bass or guitarist
yourmommycloset 2 months ago
