  • thanks buddy it works on windows 7

  • Thanks, helped a lot. :)

  • thnx meeen

  • I LOVE UUUUUUUU MEN!!!!

  • I LOVE UUUUUUUUUU

  • I had this volume disappearing act periodically. Usually, it comes back after reboot. However, recently it didn't. Why does a billion dollar company make such products. Anyway, after following your steps it worked, the icon is back. Thanks for the video.

  • ending explorer.exe and runing it again usually is the soultion, worked for me...

  • thanks so much lol i couldn't figure out wth happened lol

  • Dude, you are awesome!!!!!! I added a vidoe card (with HDMI) and had to muck with the BIOS and enabling/diabling sound devices etc. I finally got a realtek icon t omanage my sound and ports but everything else disappeared from the tray!!

    Excellent detective work.

  • Awesome! Worked! Thanks!

  • Come on man seriously. Windows 7 does not have a "Notification Area" tab.

  • @JSTUPRODUCTIONS The tutorial was shot on a Vista machine.

  • @JSTUPRODUCTIONS Acturally what u r looking for is in the “Taskbar”tab go to “Taskbar”tab-Notification area-Customize.. then u get a new window,at the bottom of which youll see "Turn system icons or off" Click that, U get what u want

  • Thank you! :)

Now I can watch porn again! ^_^

  • Excellent Work. Thank you. It resolved my problem straight away. It is just as described...

  • I spend 120 fucking dollars on windows shit 7 to have my speakers be disabled for a moment so i can turn my FUCKING headphones on... low and behold I have to jump through 20 fucking hoops to fucking get my fucking sound to work. FUCK YOU BILL GATES YOU WHORE!!!!!

  • It worked perfectly! Thanks. I tried many solutions but this one was very well explained.

  • thanks so much... this worked!!!

  • Great tutorial. sevenforums under "tutorials" has a bat program that makes it easier, but the system here doesn't allow a direct link. Some comments there rec'd clearing "Tray Notification Cache" under Advanced in CCleaner. I got my volume control back with "Ultimate Windows Tweaker," under "Personalization" and "Task Bar Appearance." I "removed" Volume Control, then reversed my action to get it back. I had to log off, and back on, but it worked. Had to make task icons small again

  • A million thanks - just a note i had to re-boot to get the greyed out volume checkbox to function , after that it worked like a charm. THANKYU !!!!!

  • You are genius... I had the same problem and it is solved after watching this tutorial.....

I would like to mention that before watching this tutorial I had tried to change all the possible settings..... but they didn't work. Finally this tutorial helped me out... Thanks

  • thaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnn you,a million a zillion , this icon disappearing acts was driving me nuts, you are a life saver oh PS. you should be a teacher by the way,

  • yaaaay!! thank you so much!! windows 7 also works. amazing job

  • I thought after 2 years or so I wouldn't suffer through this again.

But hold! They (Microsoft) STILL haven't fixed this!

I had to google how to fix this because it had been so long since the last time it happened I forgot about how.. then BAM! n0 saund 4 yoo!!

I like my program compatibility, but damn.. things like this make me pray for the moment they finally cut off that old, mangled, Windows XP limb.

Then again, Windows 8 scares the hell out of me.
