@vidmasterx7 I'd wager sensors detect when the cast member blinks and then the Mickey suit blinks synchronously for a realistic touch; as for the voice, either the cast member has a great Mickey voice or a device inside the suit alters his voice signal and outputs a Mickey voice. All Disney seems to need for this setup to work is to find cast members that are personable, witty, and have the right sort of humor.

@scottsdisneyvlog I'd guess that Bret Iwan was backstage with a microphone and headset speaking for Mickey so that they could record his voice and test every possible dialogue that Mickey might have to say to park guests. Then, Imagineering would use the information collected while testing to record the proper dialogue with Iwan. They could then use Iwan's recordings to talk to guests rather than require Iwan to be backstage all the time.

Actually, this was from Disneyland in California. It was only a test that occurred back in May. Mickey is currently back to being silent for meet and greets.

Now the talking Mickey has to be the coolest thing ever at Disneyland!! I like it when the characters can talk cause then it makes them seem more real for the kids. The fact that Mickey talked in his real voice was awesome!!! Its a fact that Walt had no interest in building a Magic Kingdom park in Florida. He felt that there should only be one Disneyland. His big idea for Florida was EPCOT. But the board of directors would not give him permission to built EPCOT until he agreed to built Magic Kingdom first.

@SmileyV07 I don't think anyone knows how it really works. Its technology that Disney won't be sharing any time soon. But I can tell you that the head has robotics that make the mouth and eyes move, but its still a person in a costume.
