How you doing Prof Odd, followed your vids for years now. Here is a differnt Marsheaux video live that I like. What do you think? Hoxton in London it is, come and experience live for yourself, you will no doubt fit in, London is brilliant Prof. Marsheaux,
Clip from The Prisoner with the short bloke and the London Copper and the red brit mail box towards the start. Brilliant vid Prof Odd - been watching this for years now. Pity what is happening financially in Greece, Marsheaux's homeland.
The vids you have done are brilliant. Been watching them for years now in my various names on youtube, comments no doubt spread on your vids. Spread the message and all that. All the very very best to you Prof. Brilliant enjoyment. Thanks.
oops, and yes, things are getting sticky with capitalism, Isn't it? Especially in Europe and the Euro. Let us see what happens. We can only look as the moneymen try and sort it all out. Don't hold your breath! All the best, again, and everyone in Greece/La Grec.
I can see "Green Wing", but just a british comedy show (the one with long arms at the start), and the black and white bit film, Patricia Neal going to meet her lover, Gary Copper, in "The Fountainhead", up in the sky.
I thought the world had forgotten ESH (although being a teenager, it's not like my friends were ever gonna be into Human League or anything of the sort), so I'm glad to hear a fresh version of it. Not quite on par with the original, but still great.
02:13 . A nice womaan accompliment, suck on this, above the shops you visit, as if your sub-conscious mind doesn't notice it at all......................
P.S. Concerned applause for the clever use of scenes from movies such as "The Fountainhead". I think it speaks to broad based interpretations of what this 'song' is talking about.
According to Wikipedia, Empire State Human" is a song by the British Synthesizer group The Human League.
The song was written by Philip Oakey, Martyn Ware and Ian Craig Marsh. And it supposedly reflected Oakey's Nietzschian ambitions. I suggest it can also be a commentary on anyone's desire to rise.
Was intrigued by the dramatic elevator scene from 'The Fountainhead" starring Patricia Neal - who just died less than a month ago. So Noir and so 40s ... that sure is one overdramatized lift scene. Probably metaphoric. The author of that story, (controversial and conservative thinking) Ayn Rand, hated the film for such things as quirky editing mistakes. Note The scaffold she was riding in was made of bars, but the exterior shot at the end showed the scaffold made of welded crossbeams. Oops.
@VportMedia *Everything* Rand did is metaphoric and/or overdramatised. She hated the movie because it changed her plot and dialogue in minor ways. Rand did a lot of hating.
Fantastic cover...... Late 70's and early 80's electronic music was and always will have a sound of it's own... John Foxx The ( Early) Human League, Gary Numan, ect are all founder members of that time and i'm pleased to be the age i am to remember it from the begining.
I thought oh no this is going to be murdered!! Being a early League freak this is not a bad cover at all, not as good as the old crackly version on vinyl!!!
@meekel123 I usually dont like covers unless they bring something different rather than just the vocals , and this does that enough imo to remain true enough to it without butchering it like some covers do ( see some of the metallica / depeche modes ones ) to hear what i mean.
I love the Human League who did the original and I love music from that era aswell and usually when bands do covers from that era they usually completely murder them but I have to say that Marsheaux have done a pretty good job. They've stayed 95% faithful to the original. The beginning of this song sounds very similar to Strict Machine by Goldfrapp.
The main one is the end scene from "The Fountainhead"(1949), where you see Patricia Neal going up the side of a constructed New York skyscraper to meet Gary Cooper at the top. Hauntingly subliminally sexual.
See the clips on youtube, especially the one called Scott by meesoolee.

Still think this is still simply brilliant, since 13 Feb 08 from first seeing it, in my previous alias, manyhighhills.
And with Patricia Neal the very late, a hell of a lady.

It's a good cover of the Human League hit. But it doesn't sound as good as the original analogue version.
