Weird! This happened to me only yesterday, it happened right after I pressed triangle at the language selection screen instead of X lol. Just a bunch of dashes and black spaces for the text.

The PAL version is based on japanese and there is no japanese lenguage options,

speechs, and texts.

i think its because by pressing triangle you exited the menu and no language was selected so there are no words.

You can do that on the PS1 if you press triangle on the language selection screen.
