didn't like this at all. I found the changing of the authors name from her dead partner to her own - utterly unforgivable, and quite psychotic. So I was pretty much disengaged (as Movern was...and had been) from then on.
I've come here to look for a trailer as I've heard this is a good film with an even better sound track. But this trailer has done nothing for me, I really REALLY hope the film is better than this leads me to believe.
I've just watched it, and no, this video does not do it justice, it was really good, very moving. I don't know whether you watched 'Dead set' but the (deliberately) annoying Scottish girl who was evicted from the BB house plays Samantha Morton's best friend.
I'd recommend watching it...unlike any film I've ever seen and a very original idea.
This was a great movie to sit back and smoke a joint to... just to relax and enjoy and absorb the glowing mood. It's a really nice experience. And your editing of the video was well done :-)
Like a broken arrow, I'll catch the tail wind and draw the clouds, burning sugar, as black as smoke, closing walls; I open my heart. She sings when she hurts. It's good to sink deep inside, to my only touchstone. She's a friend in the dark, my strength, my memories. She delights in torture, but she holds my hand and never shields me. Because the best shield is to accept the pain, then what can really destroy me? Let me close my eyes and lie invisible, and perhaps the clouds will pass through me
but it wasn't trying to be a plot-driven movie, so a person shouldn't judge it by that criteria. It was a character study and a mood piece. I think it was excellent for what it was.
Can't say anything about her really, all I saw was one take they did. It was in the freezer aisle, can't remember if she was the only one in shot or not. I think they did most of the shooting at night, the store scenes were in an actual supermarket.
It was a Kwik Save store but it's now a Lidl.
Though I do recognise a few of the store shots , like at 1:14. That door she goes through doesn't really lead anywhere :P
There's the toilets, the back door and the smallest staffroom you've ever seen.

This film and book always reminds me of that poem at the end of Ooberman's 'Shorley Wall'...

The soundtrack was great and so was the cinematography, but the plot was so boring. Ratcatcher was much better.

I finally got around to reading the book after buying it a few years ago. Really enjoying it so far. Would love to see the movie.
I remember when they came to Oban to shoot some of that. The Penny Saver store is actually the old Kwik Save where I used to work :P

Actually I think they did a shot in there, someone wrote their name on the whiteboard in huge letters, I wonder if that made it into the film :D
I know they did a few shots in town aswell IIRC a small alleyway along George Street, which is the main street in Oban.
I remember now seeing bits of this on BBC2 a few years back, wish I'd watched the whole thing :P
