  • the website is down

  • i use gloviepie with my wii guitar and nunchuck. i made a gamemaker game like guitarhero and played it. it's fine, and i play emulators with my wiistick and i use my nunchuck for controlling the mouse! mousebutton.left = wiimote.a mousebutton.right = wiimote.b

  • Do you need the sensorbar to move it?

  • @Mr8bitgamer i dont think so cause the "sensor bar" is only an infrared led

  • ahhh, glovepie! (google it) it comes with many easy scripts and stuff, very good program.

  • what program are you using? i have wiimote and wiinremote. wiinremote detect wiimote but don´t receiving data. help pease

  • I would love to DL the program that enables that . any chance you can post a link ?

(source code would be great too but exe would be nice to play with)

  • :) very clever

  • id rather just use my wii on the Internet Channel than go through all that...

  • Do you need the toilet? You keep moving about alot...

  • So, can you tell me what kind of drivers you can get to allow a wiimote to be recognized as a generic game controller by the Windows control panel?

  • 1.Blue Soleil or some Bluetooth device detector to sense and connect your Wiimote to the PC.

2.Glove Pie to use your Wiimote, find the script to use your Wiimote and initialize it as a Joystick.

3.PPJoy (Haha.) to get your Wiimote recognized as a generic game controller. You will need to go through a few steps to do that.

  • wiiremote+Glovepie(software)+bluetooth --> its easy to do .new dimension on gaming. you can control everything with wiiremote

    reall!!!

  • i know, im just doing it for the heck of it. i hate that superstitious stuff

  • O..k...

  • Alex, Don't get involved with that stuff. I have read this one dude. And nothing happened. Just don;t read this crap okay? Sorry dude. But I am just saying.

  • I was wondering how that worked on a PC...

  • wiiremote+Glovepie(software)+bluetooth --> its easy to do .new dimension on gaming. you can control everything with wiiremote

    reall!!!

  • Thats sweet. To bad I dont have a wii yet lol.

  • Nice hack, good insight. Would be cool to grab this data and produce a DIY game.

  • How do you get it to connect via BlueSoleil ?

I get it in the list refresh the service to conenct to HID, which seems to works fine (it turns green and have that animation where it sends data from the wiimore to the computer), but the LEDs won't stop blinking (until manually disconnecting from BS), yet no program detect it (GlovePIE and the others).

  • hi i got the same problem can some1 please help

  • From another video, seems like it might be better to use Widcomm's driver instead of BS, but am stil searching so far such a driver that would recognize my internal bluetooth (the one i found somewhere online seems to work only for kensington dongles).

  • i want hes baby's

  • can you play video game whit the wii mote on your pc pretty well?Or your beter off whit your laser mouse could someone reply thank

  • all they can do is measure some sensors, how can they actually play a game with it?

  • I have managed to get StepMania to work with gesture recognition using glovePIE - I will try to upload a video of it in action in the near future.

  • fucking cool man!

  • booooooooooooooooooooooring snooooooooooz

  • he sounds like the acme character that hunts wabbits!

  • Cool thanks ! I'm sure will see unexpected and great usages as individuals tinker with this wii mote :)

  • hold the camera still dude

  • Wow

  • fraps is your friend.

also we pretty much always knew it was bluetooth, nintendo stated it something like a year ago, but still awesome, good work and keep it up!!

  • GNOME FTW!

KDE looks too childish for me.

    Cool hack though!

  • lol... he's nervous... so i assume thats why he couldn't keep still

  • That's pretty cool...but dude...next time, hand the camera over to some who does NOT have Parkinson's!

  • really cool stuff...maybe you should try filming again with better camera work. Also, is there a place i can get technical info on the project (how you read the signals, the MATLAB source code, etc)?

  • Whoever filmed that needs medical help, it's like an MPEG demonstration of A.D.D.

  • Wow, sewalsh you're really really clever. No, I mean it. I'm not being sarcastic. You should be a comedian or something. I bet you get tons and tons of ass like all the time.

  • awesome... hopefully real soon something is going to come out of this. but really, get someone else to hold the camera, or use a tripod.

  • rocks!

  • gget a freakin tripod

  • marcan, KDE is as ugly as I ever thought it were. >:o Use Enlightenment or GNOME ffs.

Also, you better work on getting Tux Racer to work. :( You know I love the Tux Racer.

And to all the pewps being silly ones, they are actually working on being able to write software for the Wii without going through Nintendo etc.

  • whoa cool! Nice h4x

  • Dude, HOLD THE CAMERA STILL

  • omg! finally a breakthrough!

  • yet a hack? lol awesome

  • very very cool.

  • same technology used in nokia 5500

  • Dude why are you wasting your time here?, go get a job at Micro$oft!

  • I don't think he has so low opinion of himself. I mean, c'mon - MS? Lol!

  • make me a driver already...

how did u crack the bluetooth?

    gah i hate you.

  • As far as I know, there was no cracking at all.

The Wiimote simply responds as a normal HID Bluetooth device without any access code.

  • What do you mean how? People have been pairing Wiimotes to PCs since day one.

  • The problem is not getting it to pair up, it's sending it the right commands and understanding the data that comes back. It reports as a standard HID device, but the report format is custom and it doesn't send back anything but button reports by default. Standard drivers won't work.

  • USC, NC Champs!!!!

  • sorry but i have to agree nerd... lol

  • And?

  • nerd ALERT!!

  • This is pretty cool...

  • this is coming from a Playstation 3 fanboy: i love wii

Could you imagine if someone came up with an input/drivers to replace the mouse? HEIL HOMEBREW!!!! I'd love to intergrate the wii remote into a regular plastic gun and play Counterstrike Source. XD!!!

  • dpace86 is a dork

  • shut up

  • congrats :D

  • Very Cool!!!

I'd recommend a tripod next time though.

  • This is awesome, thanks. Looking forward to future videos about the Wiimote, so post them! Science!

  • thats great(sarcasm).

got any good games for the wii?

  • if you need to go pee, pee first before recording

  • lol

  • Getting mouse control out of the acclerometers would be great. Of course as stated in the video it would be even better if you could get the Direct Pointing Device in the Wii Remote to work as a mouse.

  • Who cares? Show me games...

  • this looks like bullshit...whatever i don´t care

  • If you didn't care, you wouldn't have clicked the link to view this video, watched the video, typed out a comment and then clicked a button. To me, simpleton, you do care.

  • really, I don´t care. But the process you describe kind of sums up my youtube experience: Click, watch, bullshit, comment, bored, bye. kkthxthxbyebye

  • KEEP THE CAMERA STILL

  • loved "the fun part" at 1.04

  • That was really interesting, thanks ;)

  • step side to side more,im getting motion sickness just watchin

  • interesting, but it would be nice if you weren't so excited with yourself that you keep shaking the camera around

  • I am sure this is great, but I can't watch it. It's like you were trying to make me throw up.

  • cool ;)

get a tripod or a friend to tape you ;)

  • i had to stop watching at about 1 minute cuz i was getting dizzy. good material but horrible camera work

  • Nice guys, keep working hard :)

  • You guys just made a dream I had last night come true where I could use the wii-mote on the computer and with my 360.. This could make you guys some money.

  • *clap* *clap*

  • awsome

  • Good Job, i gotta hand it to ya, you have partially reverse engineered what probably took Nintendo programmer's years to develop, how do you think they're gonna feel when they see you picking apart the Wiimote movement into wavelengths, again, good job!

  • I imagine they'll be even more pissed when they find out someone (Or him) used this discovery to use N's very own Wiimote to control pirated Emulator+ROM's on the PC.

  • That is amazing technology!

  • sounds like a bright dude, but learn how to use a video camera for Pete's sake.

  • Please stop shaking. Terrible video.

  • I CAME

  • Please purchase a tripod.

    Thanks,

    Johny Deepthroat

  • the blair wii project

  • Acceleration == Gravity.

This is impressive stuff. Hack on!

  • Neat, but reshoot please

  • Steady hands... steady hands...

  • cool! :D

  • what is a walue

  • now someone needs to make this program for the mac!

  • Why, it's already on Linux?

  • next time when you want to show something on your monitor, try to use some software for that. That other thing with joggling the camera looks like crap.

  • emulate a cursor

  • It is impossible to discern whether a force originates from acceleration or a gravitational pull, by sensing force alone. Accelerometers are actually force sensors, but since nobody usually uses it to measure gravitational pull, (since it can easily be calculated by the constant by the mass), it is traditionally used only to measure acceleration. This guy is not full of crap.

  • WHY THE FUCK can't people use their fucking camcorders properly???

After 20 seconds most people are going to feel seasick when watching this clip!!

  • Very nerdy, yet somehow very intriguing. Great work.

  • do this again and let somebody else hold the camera. you're drinking too much coffee.

  • uhhhh last time I checked something had to be "accelerating" for acceleration to be measured... not just sitting on a table.

  • cool stuff only geeks would enjoy

  • one word: gyromouse

  • Good Grief. Yes he is using the term acceleration incorrectly in respect to the gravity. It is an accelometer, but it's hacked up to measure gravitational force to detect tilt. Acceleration by itself would be incapable of that. (things that don't move have 0 acceleration, midmarky is correct though a little crass) Marcan42 is doing good work. follow the link he listed.

  • One correction. He says that there is always a detected acceleration in one direction due to gravity. Yes but acceleration is the (change in velocity)/(change in time). Since the velocity is constant zero when sitting on the table the acceleration is 0 and hes full of shit

  • You're incorrect. The acceleration is detected as forces upon a sensor, and the sensor registers a constant downward force. This is documented many times over, and he knows much better what he's talking about than you.

Instead of thinking of it as measuring acceleration, think of it as measuring forces.

  • Technically all frames of reference are equal, therefore if you work from a complete 0 gravity perspective, your frame of reference would have to follow the pull of gravity. Using this frame of references, the table is actually accelerating the Wiimote up at roughly 9.8 meters/second^2

  • Using it as a mouse with only accelerometer data is going to be inaccurate at best. We need to figure out how to read back the IR camera data to use the sensor bar to be able to do it accurately.

As for the video cutoff, I've noticed. Stupid youtube (and stupid digital camera). I'll do some postprocessing on the next one.

  • awesome. This will be brilliant if you can fully figure it out. Making Wii prototypes and games for the PC will be brilliant. Easy way of trying out ideas without hacks and a huge stack of cash! Keep it up!

  • You sir are a god among men. I have been messing with Gyro mice since March and cannot to be able to use a Wiimote as a PC gyro mouse. All those buttons HTPC controller from hell.

Do you guys have a forum or a website for all your Wiimote tinkerings? I would love some more information.

Wiimote mouse and DS touchscreen KB FTW.

  • stand still for fucks sake, christ....

  • Those jitters just ruined your day, didn't they kiddo.

  • BUY

    A

    FUCKING

    TRIPOD.

    otherwise, great work.

  • here here, on both counts

amazing work to all involved in this little miracle. nintendo included. hugs all around.

  • Thats pretty cool, is the source for that little app going to be made available? I'd love to see how you got those values and of course mess with it myself. :)

  • @ w00t

you're kind of an asshole. Would it really be more intresting seeing a guy move the mouse around the screen. That doesn't explain anything. He's just trying to say how it works.

  • I can see some very cool applications of the Wiimote in the very near future :D. Very cool.

  • Thats cool... I thought everyone knew the Wiimote was bluetooth.. it was acutally my knowledge before it came out that it was bluetooth...

also if im not mistaken, ur audio is lagging in the video. ive noticed that when the graph spikes from dropping the wiimote, u dont hear the sound till 2 seconds later. and u get cut off at the end of the clip.

  • want a cookie?

  • OK :D

  • the instant at which all accelerations are equal to zero is when the wiimote reaches the height of it parabolic path and changes direction, not when it hits the ground (you tend to accelerate fairly severely in a car crash, for example)

  • That guy can't stand in place, he was always moving.

go pee BEFORE making a video

  • haha good observation

  • did u even watch the video! he is working on it you moron! u cant just plug shit in and hope it works u fucking n00b

  • show how a mouse can determine pitch / turn you fucking idiot.

  • eat a knife

  • how did you do that?

    thats crazy stuff

  • nice.

  • Yup, that would be Gentoo with KDE :)

Oh, I forgot to mention: The Wiimote actually has 3x the temporal resolution than what I show, I drop two out of every tree measurements because the graphing library is quite slow and it starts to lag behind if you move it a lot otherwise.

  • That's linux, KDE!

  • Very nice video, good work!

  • Good work! ;o
