@pupskannake A lot of Star Wars fan films have decent special effects, but not necessarily good acting. Look at Star Wars Revelations, for example. I think it was better for these guys to do it in Italian, which they were comfortable with as their native language, rather than attempt to do the lines in English. If there is poor acting, it is also harder to spot for the broader fan base. And considering that it's in a more obscure time period, it helps the setting, I'd say. Quit enjoyable.

Dark Resurrection è solamente un pretesto, una sorta di 'denuncia' al cinema italiano che forse anche noi dovremmo aprire gli orizzonti e non fare solo film ripetitivi in stile Moccia..

E' un film indipendente e dal budget nullo, quindi è gia tantissimo quello che è stato fatto. Poi ripeto: non è un film fine a se stesso, è una vera e propria denuncia al cinema di casa nostra che dovrebbe finalmente aprire gli orizzonti..

I've watched the entire film in HD with the subtitles, which weren't completely accurate. You guys should have someone who speaks English as their primary language go back over the subtitles and clean them up grammar-wise.

Anyways, this is my favorite part of the film. The quality of the opening sequence is outrageous, it's so damn good. Unfortunately, the rest of the film doesn't measure up, it's almost like two different directors filmed this. I wonder if there was a 1st and 2nd unit?

And Mrchildren, LOTR was an overhyped piece of Hollywood fluff created from a golden cash cow. There is no fluff in Dark Resurrection. Professional artists and actors volunteered their time, put this thing together on a shoestring budget, and it's dark, serious treatment of the mythos is a refreshing change from the childish, lighthearted good-guys-always-win tripe we've put up with for years.

So if a film recieves a budget from Hollywood, it seems to me your general opinion is: it's crap.

Just because you make do with limited resources does NOT make one film better than another (Blair Witch Project, anybody?). What makes a great movie is plot, acting, AND effects. This film has two of those 3. The acting is very stiff. And another drawback is the poor choreography for fights.

But overall, I do love this film, this is the kind of work I want to get into. Can't wait for Part 2!!!
