Zune sucks big time. It took them over 2 years and they only manage to create 13 apps for the zune? Pathetic. And why are the apps for the phone 7 not compatible with the zune? Also if you just recently replaced something in your zune such as the screen, battery or hard drive, the hard drive ribbon might be a little lose, take your zune apart like you did before and make sure your hard drive is in fully, but be carefull, people should only do this if they know what they are doing, as if you have no clue your zune will become a exspensive paperweight, hope my suggestions helped, ifnot then sorry, mine was simply solved by what i suggested to you.

My Zune kept restarting while plugged up to my PC, so it wasnt charging.. unplugged it just flickered on and off.
If you are having the same problems i wold suggest trying Restarting the Zune (hold the back button and up) if this does not work then reformat it only s a complete last resort for first gen (back button + left + center button) for 2nd gen back button + right + Center button) this will clear the version.

I figured this out, it really not that bad. I just took it apart and unpluged the battery and plugged it back in and it started just fine. I got how to take it apart on here it is so easy even a cave man can do it. Pop the plastic peice of from around your charge port. There you will find two small screws. unscrew those and carefully pry the case apart. After that the battery is at the top of the zune and black pull the power cort straight out and plug back in. Test it out. Reassemble and done.

mines doing it right now, the button pressing combos dont work, i recharged it, got back to the frozen load screen, so nothing i do works...noones found a solution...all i find is the press buttons together and stuff and it doesnt work...if you fix it please tell me
I always try to reboot it by pressing up and back....or the last time it kept restarting itself it was because it was completely dead so i charged it on the computer but it froze...then i found out there was a device update available which fixed everything!! :)
it is formatted well. But the problem persist. it works well when plugged in to computer so I can check that files are all deleted. But same thing happen when I unplugged it.

i know what to do, i had the same problem.
does this problem come up when you plug it in the usb port?
if so, you have to let it restart for like 20 min or maybe longer.
if you just leave it there, after a while it will connect to the computer suddenly.
you just have to be patient.

Hold the back button, center, and right on the dpad while it is restarting. It will delete everything but the firmware.
