I lived in Kensingston Apartments (which is just about right across the street from Vintage Vinyl) until I was 5 1/2. I found out about this amazing store when I was 24 and went there as part of my 25th birthday celebration. It really is the best record store I have ever been to! THEY HAVE ALMOST EVERYTHING I WANT!
love opeth to death (at least till heritage came around) but if it has boogie in the title he wont buy it?..judging by the groovy hippie sounds of that snorefest heritage i think mike and the guys have been listening to waay too much disco as it is!
@Thewandmirror Mikael is old fashioned, therefore he probably enjoys the surprise of a blind purchase. Plus, he undoubtedly has more money to spend on records than you and so it's not that risky for him.
I have an expansive record collection myself, and I find it humoring that Mikael stated that he won't buy a record if there is a track on it with the word 'boogie' in the title. Even though that may be a generally good rule to follow, I think that anyone could miss out on some great tunes. 'Casino Boogie' from the Rolling Stone's Exile on Mainstream album being one of my personal favorites, but yes, I do have a diverse taste for music.
anyone notice that these videos have the new heritage songs way before the album came out? that means we got an easy taste without even realizing it ;P
Wish I had a record store where I lived... only a few give a shit about rock and metal. Luckily we have a metal radio station opening up next year :S Damn I wanna live in US
Son of a bitch! They passed through a NJ record store like its nothing, I COULD HAVE BEEN IN THERE!!! Oh man, I'm so loitering at record stores more often, ya never know when opeth is gonna walk in...
i buy records because of the symbolysm, is something beautiful to buy, no matter if you can download it, is always nice to buy a record you like sometimes ;)
@immortalperser dude just because a band isnt famous doesnt mean they arent good. way to go to be that judgemental. there are many emerging artists that are fucking amazing, it just doesnt appeal to the mainstream media. everyone has to start somewhere.
@qnaydz I meant vintage Vinyl records. Sure, I would buy CDs of talented emerging bands if I like their sound but vinyl records can be too pricey sometimes, especially if they are old. Besides, vintage records are old enough, so the artists have already seen the results of their efforts. Buying records of a band that has been disbanded 30 years ago is not going to help the artists make progress musically. I'm not being judgmental, just curious.
@divine0enigma It would help if you could make an effort to read my updated comment. That way you won't make a fool out of yourself... unless you're a regular youtube troll.
1:51 It actually makes me angry that that black guy has no Idea who hes standing next to! What I wouldnt give to stand next to Mikael in a random record store! Haha, Iam going to see Opeth live on September 29th for the first time in 9 years and I would literally do anything to get to meet him! I think he is single handedly the most talented man in Heavy Metal music, and one of the most Talented musicians in All of Music. \m/

@TheJoPk Well they can either try to recapture the essence of BWP for the next decade or they can pursue a new direction, personally I don't want to listen to band trying to compete against their own back catalog, the end result will be a contrived artless POS, so on that note, I welcome the new direction.

@Jopeyy yea dude, they're fucking teasing us. I wonder if they have a dvd with a bunch of these clips and "making of heritage" for a special edition, i'd buy it!
