I KNEW Faithfull Ale would be your most disappointing, haha. Have a bottle of #5 and #1 most disappointing in the fridge. Though, the Rogue beer was intended as a gift for a friend here in AZ who was born in Oregon and raved about Vooddo Doughnut. Admittedly, hoping to trade Faithfull to someone that love the band...

Myrcenary is a regular of mine (lucky to get it in AZ) and one of my favorite regularly available IIPAs. Recently had a bottle of Knuckle Sandwich (from a trade). Good stuff.

I have found recently (and tell me if you think I'm way off here) that many of the larger craft beer brewers such as Sam Adams, Dogfish Head, and Sierra Nevada are beginning to play it safe and brew to the middle of the market. They say their doing big edgy stuff but really it's just another safe beer. And even some of their standards seems to be less than what they used to be. It's gotten to the point with my pallet that SN Pale Ale and SA Boston Lager just taste like beer and nothing special.

I've been wanting Exponential Hoppiness for awhile now. How do the hops compare to Mooylans Hopsickle?

@JDSproducitons Ive never had Hopsickle fresh so it wouldnt be fair for me to compare the two. But from what I can remember Hopsickle is not nearly as hop forward as this beer was

I'm really upset that Bootleggers "Knuckle Sandwich" was so expensive & hard to find. I really wish I could have got my hands on more than one bottle, one of the best beers I have ever SMELLED. I hope they brew up more at the brewery though because they are really close to where I live (Fullerton is my neighboring city)

Parabola not even on the top 5? To me, that was the best of the year, actually favorite beer I've ever had. But hey, that's my taste, you have yours, and I respect that. Also, note that I didn't have Exponential Hoppiness or Black Tuesday

@Bobheed I had Parabola as my best beer of 2010 so I didnt want to make it my number one beer again this year. I tried not to include any beers from last year on the list. Buy Parabola was easily in my top 10 this year

totally agree with the Faithful Ale.. Def not worth the 20 bucks if spent.. I've only tried the Saison (my favorite style) in the Ovila series and I was actually disappointed as well.

@dgeebs07 Yeah the fact they charge $20 for that beer is really insulting. If it were like $8.99 or something like Squall it would be worth it but other then that no way.

Loved the Perpetual IPA from Troegs. Also I feel like those crazy releases from Dogfish Head should be better than they are. I found a bottle of Bitches Brew (for under 35 bucks no less) but still havent tried it yet.

Great list, some awesome DIPA's on there. I am a little bit surprised Hunahpu was not on there but you only did top 5 so I can understand. Good most disappointing list, The Ovila series was one that would be on my list for sure. I did not try the other ones probably because of you haha! FSW 15 would have to be on my list though, just because 14 was so good fresh its not even funny.

No surprises with the disappointing beers but a couple surprises with the best beers. Hopefully I'll have nothing going on next time they release Knuckle Sandwich so I can drive up to the brewery and load up.

I feel the same of the Ovila series. A very big MEH from me. Although, I went to Beer Revolution in Oakland and they had a barrel-aged Tripel on tap that wasn't released. DAMN GOOD. It's too bad they didn't release that one instead.

I'll have to try that mercinary DIPA now. If you were a fan of Knuckle Sandwich, then I know mercinary will be good. They're out of Fort Collins, Co, hopefully New Belgium distributes them to socal.

@BeerGeekNation I had exponential hoppiness(got from my bar manager after the restruant manager fired me), it was great, if not (take it with a grain of salt) "over hopped" (as if there is such a thing). Knuckle Sandwich I have been enjoying since a least 2010. Comes with going to college 1 mile away from Bootleggers

jeez what does it say when Sierra Nevada and DFH both get two beers in the "most disappointing" list? And just to clarify, these' are the "Worst beers" because you don't drink bad beers in general. I'm one of the few BeerTubers that reviews macro stuff from time to time. I'm sure "Faithful" is magnificent compared to a Budweiser & Clamato Chelada. LOL

Ryan is going to send me a bottle of the Exponential Hoppiness as soon as the next batch is released in a week or two. Can't wait!
