  • If you jump over the last dog at 1:35 and punch it from behind, you get a free life. You can keep repeating this and get tons of lives.

  • lol the frogs from Alex Kidd shooting the bullets from double hawk :)

  • just got this game, but I can't get it to work :/

  • Just bought a master system from eBay especially for this game!!! Feeling so nostalgic lol

  • i remember this game being insanely difficult, you have skills!

  • I lol when i compare this to modern day games like battlefield 3 haha.

  • And so..They continued this cycle, from the city to the beach, but in the end the guy with the mohawk had his way with the hero's girlfriend..despite him always falling the same old "im defeated trick" at the beach..

  • I actually played this on Game Gear. Many hours of frustration indeed.

  • This dude looks like Ronald McDonald!

  • THERE GOES MY HERO!!

    HOPPING ON ONE LEG!!

    THERE GOES MY HERO!!

    BEATING BAD GUYS!!

  • how did u record it? nice vid bro my first video game haha I'm nostalgic *_*

  • how did you jump through 2 frogs!? cheat? :P

  • "My Hero" rant - CONCLUSION The arcade version was actually kinda cool (hard, but cool). It had an awesome time travel theme and you can even save hostages who would fight by your side. Sadly, the Sega Master system version of "My Hero" is a butchered version of the real game. It just takes place in modern times and that's it. I just wish Sega would have put more effort into the Master system version. The SMS game was ULTRA hard and just a pain. At least the Alex Kidd frogs are in it.

  • @WHATisWRONGwithHER Perhaps it's a case of limitations of the console. Those weren't so easily overcome back in the day.

  • "My Hero" rant - PART FOUR

In the arcade version, after you have traveled to the future of the "planet of the apes" and you have beaten the man ape leader, the gang boss from the first level (who is from modern times) comes out, steals the girl, and jumps into the time machine. You follow him and that's it. The game goes into a time travel paradox where the first three levels (present, past, future) repeat over and over and over. The game has no end since you are stuck in a time loop.

  • "My Hero" rant - PART THREE :

In the arcade version, after you beat the Samurai at the end of the second level, a man ape (just like the ones from the movie "Planet of the Apes") comes out, steals the girl and jumps into a time machine. You follow them and you time travel into the future, where man has become extinct and man like APES are trying to kill you. When you reach the boss, you fight the man ape on a beach with sunset in the back. After you beat him, the gang boss comes out (CONTINUED)

  • "My Hero" rant - PART TWO :

In the arcade version, after you beat the gang boss at the end of level one (just like in the Master system version) the arcade version has a Samurai from ancient Japan come out, steal the girl, and jump into a time machine. You follow him into the time machine and the second level starts off in ancient Japan. At the end of the second level, you fight the samurai on a beach with a sunset in the back. After you beat him, a man APE comes out (CONTINUED in NEXT post)

  • "My Hero" rant - PART ONE :

The original arcade game TOTALLY destroys this Sega Master system version of "My Hero". In the arcade version, the game takes place in modern times (just like the first level of the Master system version) after that, that's when the arcade version becomes VERY different from the Master system version. In the arcade version, after you beat the gang boss, a Samurai from ancient Japan comes out, steals the girl and goes into a time machine.. (CONTINUED in NEXT comment)

  • I remember this game. A friend of mine at school lent it to me for about a week. I never got to finish it (and this was only the second card game I ever played, the other being Transbot, which I owned).

  • dragon kick, ftw

  • I have this game sence 1987 and the one things i realized sega didnt add was the other stages from the arcade. The game is ok but i would of like to see those other stages.

  • This is a lot better than Urban Champion

  • Shinobi + Kung Fu Kid = My Hero

  • Looks like a really cheap Vigilante rip-off.

  • This game taught me the meaning of defeat.

  • I never managed to pass round 1 because there were SO many enemys.. Watching this, I am supprized that ANOTHER Alex Kidd Monster was used in a Sega Card Game. the first discovery was the fish in "Teddy Boy" OMFG

  • Looks lke russian music.

  • @schieese reread your posting. LOOKS like russian MUSIC....

  • Vigilante

  • Oh nm i got my answer

  • Can this game end? haha

  • Damn, looks like cool translation.

  • This game was released before Alex Kidd. And it's awfully addictive.

  • His facial expression after is girlfriend is kidnapped again at 2:09 is priceless xD

  • In the eighties the punks forever are the bad. XD

  • Comment removed

  • 1:43, "With Karate, I kick your ass..."

  • Ohh 3:10... Alex Kidd in miracle world frogs ^^

  • 0:12

I'll take THAT, thank you very much.

  • @xchickenmanx Fuck man, was just about to comment on the same thing.

  • to the bad guy. " fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me" lol

  • The music is fantastic

  • This is a great game!!! I forgot about this! This was so much fun!

  • Looks shit they stole the frog spirtes from alex kid wtf.

  • So wait, this is a game where you have to rescue your girlfriend from some punk, but you have to jump kick your way through bank robbers, kick pit bulls in the face, the frogs from Alex kid wants you dead, and you face off with the punk in an epic duel with the sun set in the background? I don't care how cheap this game looks, the concept alone kicks ass ^_^

  • @nekomarulupin but you never get the girl back lol

  • godamn i remember this game i always went really pissed when playing this and bit the sega master system joystick :b

  • this looks like a cross between kung fu kid and double dragon

  • Wtf is this game real? Thank heavens I didn't have it when I was a kid.

  • OMG those frogs are off alex the kidd!!! thats so cool!!!

  • hard game just proves that in this time Sega Nintendo could have made anything and people would still buy it

  • OMG! It's the Alex Kidd frogs!

  • This game is badass. Look at all those crooks throwing daggers and bottles at the kid!

  • Awesome video dude! :)

the frogs in the 2nd level look like the ones in Alex Kidd in Miracle world as well.

  • EPIC! I LOved this game.

  • SOUND A LOT LIKE TETRIS!! MY HEARS!!

  • what a piece of crap for the master system. i remember this game. it was released as a game card for the seldom used card slot.

  • Wow...in retrospect the music sounds like one of those high-kicking Yiddish folk songs. Scene 2 is Haifa beach for sure...

  • I remember playing this game in the arcade at the dentist's office, as I remember he had black hair and you could pick up a partner to help you fight in a pink suit. This was my favorite thing to do back then, come to think of it, that was a pretty cool dentist's office. Memories...

  • OH GOD MY EARS! THEY BLEEEED!

  • masterpiece

  • The kick sound never gets old...

  • This is one of my favorite Sega games. I played it a lot back in the day. The longest game I played was up to round 16.

  • I used to play this, rampage, kung fu master, rambo first blood, and some mafia shooting game all the time as a kid. I love this game.

  • Some of those bad guys look like Michael Jackson in the 80s.

  • This is the one game I never finished when I was a kid. It was never ending! lol

  • Man this is a great Classic game!!! It was not one traditional cartridge game, it was a slim card game. Loved it when I was kid

but damn the game was so HARD!!!!

  • For everyone here who thought this was teh worst master system game ever, try playing Transbot.

  • I still don't get it how he can fall for that trick the boss is doing on every level.

  • ... They actually recycled the Alex Kidd Frogs. Good lord.

  • @OreWaUsopp yeah i noticed that, everyone thought i was a total geek lol

  • My cousins had this, man did it suck. But, what do you want from a Card game?

  • he is the biggest idiot ı tihnk after the first time you got hit you know what im saying(= (sorry for my broken english)

  • Lol, you would think he would learn after the 2nd time that he was gonna steal her again XD

  • 2:05 - we are the champions?

  • I wanted this so bad when I was a kid, but my parents wouldn't get it for me. Then I got a Genesis and I stopped caring.

I tracked down a ROM about ten years later, and wow. This game was such a stinker.

  • i had this game as well, think its still in the loft. this was pure shite, no excuse for games like this, not when you play SMS games like PSYCHO FOX or WONDERBOY. really lame.

  • wow i miss this system and this game

  • If you jump over the dog and kick the last one in the back you get a free life. And you can continue to do it!

  • ive gotten to lvl 14 on emulator with countless amounts on saves and loads :P the levels keep repeating just everything moves faster till it gets to a point where it is impossible to get past the 4 dogs. i loved this game as a kid

  • i have this game, i never got to play it cause i only have a genesis, working on getting a master system, looks endless though

  • This game looks hilarious!

  • AVGN needs to get a Master System...

  • You're right! He would have some things to say about this game..

  • He has one, he has reviewed Rocky on it. He accepts donation cartridges though. :)

  • really, this is game is endless, and i had it on my master system.

  • sweet fuck, I had this obnoxious shitty game, back when I was a youngin, could never get...hell past the first level, the creators of this game need to be thrown into a car crusher.

  • this game ever ends. even today i play it on my master system and i can't finish it

  • I loved that game it was so hard back then^^

    The music is still great;)

  • Thanks so much for posting this! Brings back memories of more simple times. Times when your only job was to finish your homework so you can play My Hero with your childhood friends for the rest of the night. Ahhhhh...

  • I have the cart version of this game... Weird.

This was a tough game but addicting!

  • Did anyone else get the point of the "card games" though? Why did Sega need to built another slot just to play games that looked like cards, but were the exact same type of games as the regular cartridges???

  • The point back then, I believe I seen a commercial for them, was that they were easier to swap between friends. In the commercial I think it showed two kids trading and putting them in their hip pockets. Hope that helps clear it up for you.

  • Such simple fun this game was :D

  • This game is cross between Kung Fu for the NES, Kid Niki Radical Ninja for the Nes, and Vigilante for Turbo Grafx 16.

  • such a crappy game but great memories

  • love the intro:

*bad guy walks up, SMACK!, takes his girl*

    lol

  • OMG!!!! I remember the card games!!! This and Transbot and the weird haunted mansion one with the vampire!!! HAHAHA! Ahhh the memories...

  • Yeah a few of the "card" Master System borrowed graphics from Alex Kidd. Teddy Boy uses the same death animation and one of the baddies.

  • nice repeat at 1:12!! Damn that was skills!! ;O

  • music sounds like an old Russian/Soviet dance tune...maybe ripped off from Tetris? ;O

  • OMG your right!

  • Man I really wanna see someone finish this game

  • damn my cousin was cising this game. he was right! IT WAS THE SHIT! =D

  • Haha this game is hilarious.

  • Hell yes! I've been looking all over for this!

  • cool game

  • This game...was the fucking shit ! Great memories!!

  • Hey, talbot1939:

Wasn't this game on SEGA CARD....that went on the front of the console? instead of a cartridge?

  • both...

    cartridges and cardas...

  • I realy hated those games that you die in one shot,so fustrating and that fucking my heroe game never ends anyway

  • aww i miss this game

  • i loved this game-saved up my pocket money to buy it about 20 years ago!

  • they ripped you off man; time to come to terms with that fact

  • hey you are good I can't get past the first level on the MAME version how come you are so good how long u been playing?

  • The town you live in makes Detroit look like Pleasantville. Danger lurks in every corner. The gangs are more organized than the Coney Island Warriors. They want your girl, and even when you do beat them down, they still can't take a hint.

Now, if that doesn't sound like a fucking awesome concept and challenge factor, what does?

  • Woahh!! 3.11 ! Those are the Alex Kidd in miracle world frogs!!

  • Classic game. One of the hardest I've ever played.

  • Jump kick, bitch!

  • LMFAO the boss punch your face in and then steal your chick!

  • if you sweep the 1st 3 dogs then jump over the last and sweep him from behind you can get infinite lives

  • Why does Conan O'Brien know Kung Fu?

in all seriousness, this game is fun.... until you realize the game repeats itself after the third round.

  • I had this game. Kicking and punching were completely useless so you could only jump kick. I never finished it though, as it just seemed to go on and on and on and on...

  • Oh I was laughing so hard at this silly game.

Why don't they create games like these anymore? XDDD

  • wasn't this called "The Jump Kick Game"?

when i was a kid I always thought: Why are pigs and frogs attacking me?

  • Those frogs are the same design as the frogs found in Alex Kidd Miracle World!!

Must have been by the same Sega team =P

  • A great game to master your skills in evasion.

  • i guess blonde girls arent the only dumb people. ( jokes) How many times can that guy fall for the same trick after beating that guy in a fight.

  • I never get the same feeling anymore from video games like i did from My hero, Wonderboy 3, psychic world, sonic, you know how it went back in the day.

    Back in those days..

  • this was the hardest game i ever played on the master system...

  • i bought this game for 80 bux back in the day haha was good back then

  • I spent hours to get through this game but my best result was level 8 or 9. The music was really annoying after 5 minutes I remember...

  • the music stands out as being really good and cheery.

  • how many levels does this f***ing game have lol seriously. I got up to about rd12 and it was jus the same3-4 levels repeated but faster and faster

  • on rd 25.. i wanna leave it alone but i cant... too much childhood memories lol.

  • Why do random people on the street want to kill you?!

And why don't the cops do something about all the knife throwing civilians?!

    Just kidding, classic game.

Gotta get this for my Master System someday. (when I get the Sega Power Base Converter.

  • All for pussy.

  • I actually can see the basis of the games plot and find great potential in the games content both in terms of gameplay and story progression.

And dude, don't leave sick comments like that.

  • lol!

  • That punk :p

  • Oh man...I remember this..I was only 8 ;-(

    ...axxx those days :)

  • like it how u dint even die when u were walking through the enemies ha ha ha

  • WOW!!!! I played this game in 1985 or 86, I was 5 years old, and I only could end the first round!! hahaha, I thought that it was impossible to find it on the Youtube.

    Thanks Talbot1939!!

  • Okay, my bad, the platforming (steps to leap up) is something new. Still, the gameplay is VERY similar, right down to the punks stealing your girl and the knife tossing guys.

  • Looks like a rip-off of Kung Fu Master ("Kung Fu" on the NES). Sure, the bottle-droppers are new, and the controls look a little better and the backgrounds are more detailed, but that's about it.

  • man, i was soooo pissed off when i bought this piece of crap!!!

  • You can count me in!

  • i love the boss music!

  • Oh God, I remember this piece of crap. One of the worst games for the SMS. Thank God we barely paid anything for it.

  • i paid $50 for it around 1991 which is about $100 today! :(

  • The japanese one seems better: /watch?v=J83-jyFHk7E

  • i swear this game is unclockable

  • In those days, most games weren't about completing it till the end they were about scores. That's why games like Transbot, this and Bank Panic never ended so you could keep getting a higher score to compete with yourself or friends.

  • Music drives me bonkers on this. Over and over again. They could use it as a torture device.

  • rofl

  • the music drives me nuts... where was that game produced in russia ?

  • I actually discovered the extra life cheat by pure accident as a kid playing this game.. When the 4 dogs come walking in, bend down and kick the first 3 and den jump over the 4th and kick him 4rm behind!! If you walk back the way u came and come forward agin, teh dogs reappear and you can get as many lives as you wish. I got bout 80 lives and gave a crack at finishing this but it just doesn't end!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If there's one thing I liked about the SMS, its the actual use of COLORS!!

  • I... once tried to finish it... it has NO END, three levels repeated over and over, with faster and faster enemies.

I actually enjoyed how psychedelic it was towards like the third or fourth way across those three levels... still, I'm not playing that again :D

  • This game is a joke ;)

Now that I think about it, some people must have bought it. I feel sorry for them :(

  • one of the worst of the SMS =D

  • This was such a terrible game. A better one is "Kung Fu Kid" => /watch?v=XO0CtSvcZA8

  • theres no cheating

  • had that shitty game

  • OMG!! Old school games. loved it

  • what is the best music for a martial arts video game? not rock, not techno, but some fine immigrant folk music of course!

  • Theres some sort of cheat going on... ive counted at least 5-10 time when you should have been hit

  • You should make a video response with slow motion, zooming in to see each pixel and diagrams so that we can all enjoy your detective abilities.

  • talbot is.......my hero! :-)

  • I loved this game!!!!!

  • I LOVED THIS GAMEEEEEEEEEE!!!

  • great life story...

  • I had this game when I was a kid. Boy, I used to get so upset whenever I lost.

"Ding-didding-didding-didding-didding" was that annoying sound you'd hear, whenever that happened. And I used to lose my temper and pound on the sofa, which drove my mom up the wall. She would yell "Who's banging?" and then, I would say "I don't know" and act all innocent.

Now that I look back at it, I think it was hilarious. Speaking of hilarious, this game reminds me of one of those silent films from the 1910's.

  • Also had it when I was a kid...and looking back, it def seems more like an early silent film...the music, the B&W striped shirts on the bad guys, etc...never realized it before! :-D

  • I've played it many times, but it's looks like never ending game :) bu-ga-ga!!!

  • beats me why this dude never learned of his mistakes. the boss gets him every time ^^

  • I didn't watch the entire movie but, in my first level (witch i never ended hehe) i have a big guy who i thought was like a endboss, not like that punker.

More like a verry wide and big guy with a beard....

  • haha the frogs from alex kidd in miracle world...

  • THEY ARE

  • god 3 levels repeated over X 20? looks like 1 to me with extra baddies -.-: talk about gar-bitch! lol

  • great artwork on 1:43

  • Awesome! Thanks for posting. This was one of my favorite Sega games. Do you, by any chance, happen to have "Ghost House," too? I'd love to see that one again.
