Ok, the case on the left is stamped RA 43, which means that is was mad by Remington Arms Co in 1943 (not German!). The one on the right is stamped SL 43 and that means that it was made by St Louis Ordnance Plant also in 1943. Both are the same size and I´m certain they are 30-06 because they are far to small to be .50 cal.

If you look on the bottom the headstamp will tell you. Larger one on the right does look like a 50cal.

I agree, its a German K98 or Mg42 7.92x57mm Mauser round...I've got loads myself
