hey guys, he said that he'd prefer to do the DADGAD tuning, but he can't tune on the fly and doesn't like having multiple guitars. It's regular tuning. If it wasn't, then his G chord in the verse would have had to stretch or move positions. his main point is that he doesn't like to move alot. So he's keeping his fingers in the D position, and just moving one finger or so as discrete bass lines.
He said he likes to use that tuning. But it's definetely not that. His G wouldn't look like a G otherwise. It's most likely a half step down. I don't have perfect pitch, but it's definately
...all tuned in fourths (and a third). It's not some weird tuning. (This is in response to Matthew1028 below. Sorry for not being good at the internet. :])
Chris is a blessed song writer and inspiration to us listeners and writers. His music captures the tenderness of God, the greatness of God, and the praises due to the Lord Most High! Thanks for sharing the video.
Yeah, he was either really tired or wasn't feeling good. Either way, I wish I could do half as good on a good day as he does on one of his bad days! LOL
i think he wasn't feeling well this day cause he did tune a half step down and he didn't sing the second verse. he cut it short so i don't think his full was full throttle.
Is it me, or is that hard to play? I treid like right after I watched it, and I couldnt do it lol.. well not realyl anyway... I thought it was hard..Im dumb :( lol
hehe yeah he just tune on its own its not standard, God bless chris for what he has done he bless many people..
Inspire more...

tomlin's music is like a fine wine..... just gets better with age..... and it's the Spirit of God that gives it the graceful aging....

it really isnt that hard to play its only d and g in the verse and the chorus is a walk down with D - A/C# - Cadd9 - Bm - and then Em7 - Asus

You're right, it's in D flat. This song's great but is easier to sing in B flat - capo on 3rd fret and start on G
