whats funny is, this song was intended to be like a spooky / funny song, then somehow turned into a romantic song, either way this version is beautiful
I love covers of I Put A Spell On You. Even if it's not that great, everybody has their own unique take on it. It's really interesting how many different directions that song has been taken in. Imo, with the exception of the original by Hawkins, Creedence's version's the best.

This is a great version. I think I like Nina Simone's better, but it's just a personal preference. They're very different takes on the same song, and both of them do everything right in their own way.
Mirada84 marilyn manson needs to stick to what he does best sucking satans cock marilyn manson and ccr in the same breath please! id like to punch marilyn manson so hard his make up would fall off for even attempting a ccr song
@MrDMerino we all have different tastes, that's what makes us unique individuals and helps create such a rich diversity of music (and people) in the world. If we embraced those differences the world would be a much richer place, full of harmony, peace and love. Nothing good ever came out of being egocentric or name calling.
If you like this song and CCR make sure to check out Brianne. When you visit her channel...mybrianne1...make sure to subscribe to her channel and like her videos!
I never fooled around, i never put someone down, suppose I did and he sang that to me with that voice, that heartfelt, that craving, I........I........I..................
There weren't nuthin like it before, there wasn't nuthin like it after...ain't never gonna be nuthin else like this. Ya'll best appreciate this for what it is.
This is pretty good but there is an important difference between this and Jay's version--namely the lyric in the last 30 seconds of the latter that Fogarty leaves out altogether. So, I go with Jay. Vive la difference!
Fogerty has one of the best raw voices of all time.... He nails this song even better than the great 'Howlin Wolf, or Screamin' Jay" God Rest their souls... They are the ledgends! but Fogerty has the howl that makes it happen.....
When I was 15 I used to love Metallica, people said I should listen to CCR. I didn't
When I was 17 I used to love Floyd and Zeppelin - Still do though - people said I should listen to CCR. I didn't. When I was 18 I used to love Radiohead. People said I should listen to CCR. I didn't. Now that I'm 20... How could I waste those years not ever listening to CCR?
John Fogerty is the only human being alive who sings this song with the heartfelt, primal intensity that made the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins' version such a classicly unique piece in the history of rock and roll. Hawkins' legendary place in that history is already secured but I would have to think that even he would find Fogertys' vocals incredibly powerful to the point of being hypnotic. And the rest of CCR does a perfect job of bringing this already haunting tune to the peak of perfection
@Tunes2Die4 Great comment. I feel, too, that CCR did a fantastic version of this tune, and it is the only cover I have found that is as compelling as Jay HAwkins'. Fogerty does an excellent job with the lyrics, and the band plays the hell out of it.
The 11 people that disliked this have no idea what good music is. CCR and Fogerty as well as this song, will go down in history as one of the best ever.
@ubbuu A friend just posed a similar question: Screamin Jay vs. Arthur Brown (as in Crazy World of). Screamin Jay does an awesome vocal, and while the minimalist accompaniment in his version does lend itself to the song, I prefer the organ and complexity of the Arthur Brown track. A pairing of the Hawkins vocals with Browns musical arrangement would be ideal, and CCR seems to fulfill both categories with this version.
the first time i heard this song i was so stoned, i was in my friend's car and around 2:21 you hear John's guitar making that very eerie sound, i thought the devil was rolling up the windows to the car lol at that moment, those were the longest, scariest 10 seconds of my life :)

I have always thought John ( and his bands) did the best version of this song
hands down.... and he proved it, even in his midf 60's when I saw him at ( of all
"venues" )the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo just a couple years back.
His whole concert was INCREDIBLE even in such a large open place... sound was killer band rocked it and it was a round turntable stage and it
really came off well...
