Btw have you noticed that the pattern in Star Trek's melee combat hasn't changed much since the Original Series? ´The final punch is usually the one on the neck and then the opponent falls (unconcious).

The Cardassians look a lot tougher than the Bajorans, but I guess not. They have a pretty fierce, crab-like look to them. You'd barely believe they could bruise so easily.

This scene is a little over the top. Say what you want about skill and experience but Damar obviously has the edge in strength. I'd also bet he knows how to fight considering his military history.
How would believe they actually end up fighting together in the end. Damar was a redeemable character, because he wasn't evil at heart - merely patriotic. He always did what was best for his country.
Oh he's no match for Kira. First, Damar wasn't expecting her to attack him, + Kira fought in the resistance cell and she & the others ate the spoonheads for lunch. Cardassians are crafty but they're not really warriors like klingons, gem hadar, etc. They may be great at interrogation and manipulation and have superior technological force, but that's it. Remember, it's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.
ok she probly wouldnt be able to take him down quite that easily especialy the way she attacked him, however she has a number of things going for her her size being one of them, and actualy with cardassian martail arts the smaller the target the more chance you thave just because of the armor you wear, that and kira was a resistance fighter, used to that kind of combat, while demar always or almost always had the advantage of a phaser.
Casey Biggs apparently had to hold back from laughing when this scene was filmed. Seriously, Kira would have been no match at all for Damar in a fight if the real-live actors strength was identical.

And as much as Damar deserved the beating, I doubt such a Cardassian could be beaten up like that without offering a fight. It was just a silly attempt to make Kira look more badass than she should be.

@sleepingpriestess23 That's a good question... If I had to put the two together, I believe Kira would win the fight. She has been a war her whole life as a Bajoran fighting the Cardassian. Being raised in a labor camp and then at the ripe old age of 12 was recruited into the Shakaar Resistance Cell. I don't know if Kara has as extensive background as Kira does when it comes to fighting and warfare tactics. ST FTW :D
In a real fight, it's not about strength but skill when it comes to determining who is going to win. You could take the strongest opponent and put against the weakest one, but if the weakest one has more skill and knowledge and experience than the strongest one strength wise. Then, the weaker one (strength wise) would be the one that would win.

what strikes me is how much damar changed overtime,he comes across as a prick during the dominion occupation of deep space nine and later on when he's cardassian resistance leader everyone loves him.sometimes it's hard to believe it's the same person.
yeah,he never had what it took to become another dukat,which is what he thought he wanted before and it wasn't completely his fault that the cardassians became less important to the dominion,it was predicted from the time they joined in the alliance that all that trouble would happen eventually but he becomes brilliant later and kind of discovers how important he can be.
Someone else said that the producers had to get the best actors for these parts because it's difficult to put emotion across when you've practically got a mask on because of the make up.That feels like a true statement to me.

Biggs is such a good actor, his expressions when Dukat tells and orders him to speak to Ziyal, and the look of total incomprehension when Ziyal tells him see doesn't want to see Dukat. Brilliant!!
