You clearly don't know too much about table tennis. You can't just become a good player by gluing a LP on your BH, it doesn't work that way. I've tried all types of rubbers and LP's are as hard to control and master as ordinary backside rubbers. When people complain about their opponents rubber it's only because they don't have the insight to see what it does to the ball. However, at a high level where the players do have the insight, LP's are a limitation.
@auzcar I didn't mean that, I just said that it's just a stupid move to make the point. Of course that at a high level the players have "the insight", but this rubbers into a begginer category are just very anoying, maybe when I be in 1st category I'll change my mind, i've seen people in 4º and 3º category that just have SP and LP in his bats. That's just disgusting.
Good point. I've played with LP on the BH also. It's was very hard for me to learn because you have to remember that you have to chop on the BH. Some people that hate LP thinks that all you have to do is glue a LP rubber and it does the work for you. They are wrong. It takes lots of practice to benifite from LP.
If they think that LP is very easy to play with let them try to use it when you practice and see how hard for them to play with LP.
actually the ban isn't that much of a problem to him as it is for most of the players, since the national swedish federation has revoked the ban. But still if he wants to play international the problem remains...
Well Frictionless pimples are now banned so I guess Fabian would be really struggling having to adjust to a new style of play without his main weapons for his BH.
nono, he has the same technique. All though ITTF banned alot of frictionless rubbers, the big "pimple" brands like hallmark and naubauer has made some new, legal frictionless rubbers.
But i dont think it wont take so much time before they are banned as well.
thats not right neubauer maide 4 antitop rubber. They produce enough backspin against topspin but you need atotally new technic which has in my opinion great lacks... and exept the three TTMaster rbbers there were no additional bans ...
Actually it's a lot harder to master a long pimpled rubber than a inverted rubber. I've played with both so I know. The only noobs are the ones that says that LP is cheating just because they can't read the spin!
Fabian must have ridiculous feeling. The difference in the strokes between the chop block and then the faster push is so small but the ball moves so much quicker. Super talented. Looks so fun to just practise that aspect of your game as in continual lifting.
Fabian is just filling in for the Frickenhausen 1st league team which is in 2nd place in the German Bundesliga. He's won his last two matches against very strong players. I agree it's too bad the rubber will be banned. I would have thought the ITTF had better things to do. The biggest strengths of the rubber are the extreme spin and especially the angle of the ball coming towards you. It forces you to push the ball which let's Fabian attack strongly.
BilcolBandit: He is not choping the ball is more like a nuckle ball. It is hard to explain but it's like a push but with a different angle. You can vary your push from strong to weak and it's hard to get a consistent loop against this technique. It's too bad the Long Pip he is using will be banned soon.
One thing i noticed is his bat position when hitting the ball. Most(if not all)players hit the ball with their blade in more or less straight 90 degree angle. He however seems to have his blade pointing downwards a bit, more like a 115-120 degree angle. I should try that next time i play, see what the difference is.
Nobody ever points out that the smooth rubber player is working 5 times as hard as the "junk" rubber player.
