what a neat discovery! thanks for sharing...have you tried this on canvas (raw) or any other fabric? Just wonder what that might yield. lso, I like the fact that this technique stops color bleedng...I think I will try this!!
Thanks so much. This is a great idea. I just tried it with your tutorial and it worked perfectly. I am so happy!!! You made my day. Thanks again and greetings from Spain! :D
@crazycookie87 It needs to be card stock or a heavy weight paper to give the plastic film something to "melt" into. In my experience light weight paper burns before the plastic film gets hot enough to stick.
@roongratt It sounds like maybe the paper and/or the napkin you are using is too thick and the heat from the iron can not "get through" to melt the plastic. Try a thinner paper (I use newsprint) and be sure you have peeled the napkin down to only the thin top layer.
it always seemed to me that the napkin technique (the classical one, with adhesive and a lot of time working on it) seemed very complicated and hard to achieve. but wow, what you did here is so so incredibly easy! is like...cheating legally at an exam! :) I always loved the patterned papers and tried to achieved them every possible way, the cheapest being the digital papers. but what it lacked was the texture. with your technique you got them both! it cheap AND textured! thanks so very much!

This was very helpful! I was just trying to find a video to see if and/or how to decoupage over velvet (still cant find anything) but stumbled across this brilliangt idea. Im a late bloomer with all of the arts and crafts but always been resourseful and had an eye for art and design.. but never nurtured the passion. But now I've just dove into beading/ jewelry making, friendship bracelet making, as well as taking a stab at decoupage. This technique will be usful for several different projects!
@TheSpikedawgz I have always tried to work with the part ot the napkin that is not creased. However, you might try the crease out of the napkin before you apply it to the card stock (with the plastic).

Just tried this. It went better than expected. I also tried it with christmas wrapping paper rather than a napkin so that I could make gift tags and it worked really, really well!
Love your way of teaching, so calm and straigt forward. Most times i find myself closing the video because they would : Maybe this or that and ahmmmmm and Ihmmmm............ Thanks for sharing !
I tried this with a friend yesterday and we absolutely love it!!! It's so fun to do and very inexpensive!! The possibilities are endless! THANKS FOR SHARING!!!

What a NEAT idea!! Am going to be looking a lot closer at napkins from now on!! Keep those excellent videos coming. Will be looking forward to LOTS more I hope!! Happy Holidays..take care..Jo
I just tried. However, The Plastic Wrap for kitchen use does not work. Because that is designed to under under high temperature without melting. I would recommend the special Silicone Release paper that I use for mounting rice paper. See my video response for visit my channel for more info.
I am so glad I found you!! Thanks for sharing this technique and explaining it so well!! I have subscribed to your videos and now look forward to many more interesting videos!!
Thank you for sharing this technique. A friend in the UK had shown me using glue But it is messy and the napkin can tear. I was thrilled to see your technique which is so easy and clean.

Instead of an iron and newsprint, could you use a laminator, using the same layers, and putting it in a carrier?

I tried this technique and it took more than half an hour. The paper became yellow and some part of the napkin used turned orange.

i tink this way is better than the special glue.
but if you have it print on the kitchen wrap(PE better) (&with laser-printer ok^^)
then, IRON ON FABRIC

I tried this with Reynolds Seal-tight wrap and it didn't work. Maybe a cheaper brand that will melt at lower temps?

Yes, I find the cheaper the plastic wrap the better it works. You can also you the plastic bags from the dry cleaner.

tear the paper- the coating just like smoothing glue^^(double-face/less thinner )
