I listen to classical music now but encountering some of this Siouxsie music the past couple weeks and hearing/seeing it again after 20 years reminds me how good some of this stuff was. Far too little of the "stuff", (rock music) though. I gave up on the whole genre long ago and I'm much the better off for it in terms of enjoyment.
I still remember 2000 punks pogoing on that particular song. and yes, there was also skins on the gig, at Hammersmith palace, , because at this time, skins where not all from the national front, that's what also say the song.

There is no official live DVD release of this show. However, there is a bootleg DVD called "Voodoo Dolly: Live In 1981" which contains this full concert as well as the Warwick University broadcast from March 1981 and a few songs performed in January 1979 on "Chorus", French TV.
I have a copy of "Voodoo Dolly: Live In 1981" on DVD. My dad bought it for me here in Sydney at a shop called Red Eye Records. This is one of the best Siouxsie & The Banshees concerts ever filmed!!
Punk as an "extreme form of romaticism" may be McClaren's take on it (Adam Ant), but to the kids into it right at the start it was pure nihilism. Bands made up of kids just like them, off the dole queues you could go and see for 50p and have a line of whizz, jump around like a maniac, push and shove and crash into your neighbour, and have a good shout. Siouxie was there right at the beginning, long before any college kid donned a long, expensive leather coat paid for by daddy and wrote poetry.

@spadehatesscrewtube lol I don't care much for this argument, but just for the sake of clarification American Indians didn't have a swastika. Asian Indians do.
@kkraggs proof? because i seem to remember american indians having light blue reversed swastika type symbols on the canoes ... i'm not saying i'm right and you're wrong, but if i am i'd love to learn the truth.
@spadehatesscrewtube I went to a buddhist temple a month or so ago, and according to that the swastica was originaly of buddhist symbol, but was squre instead of diamond and it was called a svastica or something around those lines, nazis stole it from there i though.
@EpicFail345 i'm quite sure thats possible, i'll have to look into it, now i want to know. an indian friend of mine told me it was asiatic too. i've always been aware it originated elesewhere than germany. and was presented squared like you said not tilted. thanks!
@spadehatesscrewtube dumb enough to know that the wall Israel built represents apartheid. That that economical warfare of starving children is oppression. that death of children and innocents is murder. That the displacement of homes and bombing of water and power supplies, schools is evil. That Israel is one of the worlds largest nuclear power. That Israel is not a true democracy because in democracy there is no such thing as "Jewish democracy" it must be democracy for all.
@Lucifer986 you know, i don't disagree with a thing you just said.
but you might want to lay off the crack in the fact i was saying whoever tied in the words green day with actual, true punk, is dumb. now, was that you? no? ok then, we have no beef, do we? it's ok to have vehement political views just make sure they're aimed straight ok? also, don't assume everyone is automatically against you.
@Lucifer986 ahem. read. then think. then respond. i said its ok to have vehement political views, just make sure theyre aimed straight. what that means is that there was no reason to fight with me because i wasn't arguing with you.
@Lucifer986 oh right, my bad, you are dumb for saying the star of david is nazi.
maybe we should go tell the american indians they're nazi too, because you know they had the swastika first. you need to work on seperating the symbol from what people think it means, ie: open your mind and perceptions. you remind me of the people who find jesus or the mother mary in a piece of toast.
@spadehatesscrewtube well it was associated with Hitler and Nazism and in this CONTEXT Siouxsie put on an Israeli symbol because the Israelis where offended that in a prior incident she used a swastika symbol. Why where they offended ? because Hitler killed millions. So i criticised Israel of having learnt nothing from Hitler and following in his footsteps.
Fabulous concert. It's a shame that there is no official DVD release. And the drums... Budgie came from another dimension to show us what rhythm really is. Amazing.

Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones played a white solid-body version, and his bandmate Bill Wyman played a bass version of this hollow-body like the one Siouxsie is playing. I love her growls.

I concur. I prefer her growls to the ones made by metalcore people (especially the female vocalists of Walls of Jericho, Arch Enemy and Otep).

My god she's fantastic!
I thought she was amazing on the recordings of Voodoo Dolly, Cannibal Roses and Placebo Effect but, this song I'd have to add to the list as well.

Phenomenal performance. The version from Nocturne with Rober Smith is good too, but this is a definitive version of this song. So great to see Souxsie rocking out. What a talent!
