  • ironic that obama has less experience then Sarah palin lol.. Obama had been in the senate a year thats as far as experience goes...while Palin many years as governor of huge state...amazing...she is qualified more then obama!

  • I'm pretty sure john breckinridge was a reptillian, haha check out the eyes.

  • With respect to the challenges we face and her experience the video maker has done an excellent job. Very good video! Like other have brought up, we must also evaluate the content of a candidates character and examples of their wisdom.

  • that was good. a quick comparison with biden would have been good too though i think.

  • Biden has been a Senator for over thirty years and chairs the Foreign Relations Committee. I don't know if it would have added that much to the video...

  • just in a comparison to palin i mean, obviously their resumes are quite far apart.

  • and he is so smart too. he almost got away with plagarism in college.

  • I appreciate your point about not dismissing all of someone's qualities just because you may be in political opposition to him/her but the fault in this argument is ignoring the ethical implications. Even if she did perform well, your analysis does not recognize the content of her performance. This woman is clearly a warmonger, purposely fueling racist fire against Obama and hates gay people... etc. etc. Her performance in no way constitutes the description of "smart, engaged, and tough."

  • mind you, this was in the context of her performance in one particular instance where he was relativly impressed by her, by comparison to what appears to having not cared anything for her in the past. This was NOT an endorsement. He didn't even say that she had the above qualities in general, just that she displayed the qualities one time doing one little thing. I'd further agree that neither her nor McCain are the worst evils on the planet. Just that Obama would make a much better president.

  • Very nice presentation. Thanks.

  • This is well done, but it should be noted that Dawes had NEVER held elected office before becoming VP. Thats less experience than Palin. Also, Wheeler and some of the others from NY were just machine politicans nominated because NY had so many electoral votes. Dallas was nominated by his brother in law. Tompkins became an alcoholic. Breckinridge was indicted for treason. I'm no Palin fan, but these are facts. Find "Vice-Precedence:Being Number Two in The White House" for more. Its here on YouTube

  • Mr Lessig, every one of your videos are VERY effective in explaining important issues in ways that illistrate what matters. Please do one, as many have asked, on Mr Obama's experience. I've seen all your vids, as such I understand your fundamental knowledge on these issues.

  • Might as well send Homer Simpson in to do the job!

  • God, are you ever tedious. Get a life. She sucks.

  • Forget Palin's experience... she is stupid.

Forget McCain's experience... he is stupid (5th from the bottom of his class at Annapolis).

Obama is smart. He's curious. He's inquisitive. Bush was so horrific not because of a lack of experience but because he is stupid.

  • Wow...Good thing we have McCain to lead us next year.

  • I would like too compliment you on some good researching. I understand that she does not have lot of experience but I am all so respect what she has accomlished in her short time. Then I have even bigger question for you. How would OBOMA hold up too these comparisons and he is running for president!

  • The proper question is whether she has as much or more experience in an executive branch of government as previous VPs. Since many previous VPs have never had any executive experience, the answer is in the affirmative. Moreover, and more importantly, she has more executive experience than Obama and Biden combined, neither of whom has any executive experience whatsoever. They have never run anything in their lives, not even a bookstore, let alone a state government.

  • McCain's governmental experience is also exclusively legislative. Also, Wasilla is smaller than some high schools and most universities - a completely different league than the most powerful country in the world. And AK is, along with Hawaii, one of the most atypical states. Mere administrative experience really doesn't mean much. One could argue that she doesn't know the US legislative system as a legislator or through her education.

  • At 0:45 you divided by zero OH SHI—

  • great video... though i would like to see a similar comparison between obama and every other president in history.

  • as much as experience as Lincoln, k?

    glad we're clear on that.

Good video though. I agree with everything you've said (cept the interview thing...some of the things she said were off-base). Palin has many personality traits that are admirable and make her a good person. But we're 8 years into this century and we've screwed up quite a bit already. We're in a deep hole and picking someone who is a risk is not something we should risk as a nation.

  • And Obama has the experience to be President? Like most liberals, he's spent most of his efforts looking the wrong direction.

  • So what? That's what George W Bush has done his entire life and he got away with being President! Who ever wins can only be better. America is going off a very very low base - Bush running America was a bit like Paris Hilton being an Economist at Harvard!

  • One cannot argue about the job the George Jr. has done as of late, but it shouldn't be an excuse to make poor decisions going forward. A more likely match would be Biden running for president and Obama as the vice president- At least there would be some semblance of rational selection on the ticket.

  • I'd say that by looking forward, Obama has been looking in the right direction.

  • Of course, Mr. Lessig supports a PRESIDENTIAL candidate who also has far less experience than these VICE-PRESIDENTS. Why does the argument not apply there? And he has a 100% chance of being president if he is elected.

  • What? Not far less. He's been in elected offices for Illinois or the US senate for more than a decade, had taught at one of the leading law schools in the world for about 10 years, has been a community organizer (in the best sense of that term) and is extremely bright, analytical, and fair.

  • Palin has been in office for over 10 years as well. Unlike Obama, MOST of that is executive experience, as mayor, chairwoman of the Alaska Oil and Gas Commission and Governor, where most of his experience is legislative. The presidency is an executive post, thus Palin IS more experienced than Obama, if a bit less experienced than most of the folks mentioned in Lessig's video.

  • Using that argument (which I wouldn't), McCain isn't qualified to be either president or vice-president since virtually all his experience is legislative.

  • Please invest the same due diligence in a comparison of our history's Presidential candidates. Indeed, that outcome would frighten me more.

  • Excellent video. Thanks for all your hard work!

I'm pretty sure Carly Fiorina is going to call you a sexist.

  • Thanks for this!

  • Excellent points all round.

  • Wow.

    5 stars and a favorite.
