  • can I play Metal with the singlecut,..??

  • im getting this for my birthday :D

  • I got a PRS SE Custom for Christmas and I adore it, it doesn't have a tremolo but I'll just get one for it although it does have a sweet curve and the tuning pegs and volume and tune setters are made out of marble so it all good :)

  • @xXROFLTRONXx Stick with the wrap-around bridge...believe me...stable bridges are heaven!

  • Do these Korean guitars use any laminated ply bodies, etc like the cheaper epiphones, etc? Or are they 100% solid woods? Can't find any wood info anywhere.

  • @ts808heaven 100% solid. They can use more separete pices of wood then USA guitars, but is all solid. Also the maple top is just milimeters thick, but still, all solid.

  • @OLCministry6

You should go for the SC245, those are more designed for metal-ish things. Hope this helps, but dont forget to try them dude!

  • can you guy please do a review/demo on the SE Semi Hollow

  • if your a american Buy American dont buy the over sees crap you can find one used on e bay I got a 91 ce 24 for a grand its a lifetime guitar not some cheep fix

  • 0:27 imax opening :)

  • I have an SE Singlecut and I'm thinking on doin some custom work on it (locking tuners are first :p)....i'm considering in getting some new humbuckers but are there any parameters that i need to know before doin that?? if anybody knows pls post back!! :)

  • we get it paul it need locking tuner's >.>

  • please go on page for a metal slash alternative sound of this guiatr

  • that guitar is amazing....

  • Look at the "one of the finest models", SE Singlecut. Look at that monster heel behind the neck. At the zero adjustment dead bridge. Wraparound bridges went out with '54 LP's. PRS, you gotta be f***ing kidding.

  • can anyone tell me the wood used on the singlecut guitar,..

  • @birth2end mahogany

  • @birth2end Actually, it's the tried-'n-true combo of Mahogany & Maple top. Both Single and Doublecuts that have a transparent finish add a Flame Maple veneer that looks killer, but under that is a nice slab of non-figured Maple no matter the finish for tone: I can see the line between the non-figured Maple & Mahogany on my Wife's Custom 24 SE. I got it for her but it's such a great guitar I'm wanting to trade/sell my MIJ Jackson for a Singlecut! (pro bassist here, so I know my gear quality)

  • @scarred2112 tnx for the reply,...

    just a question,..,

do you think the JB SH-4 will go with the Singlecut ,...?

  • @birth2end Like I said, I'm a Bassist *playing* at being a guitarist (I can talk Maple & Mahogany because wood is wood no matter the stringed instrument ;-) but from checking out a few YouTube videos and a bit of knowledge from my Father & Brother both being Guitarists, I think the JB SH-4 would sound good in a ROCK setting but might not have the gain for things approaching metal or even "Heavy Rock". But I'd ask a guitar profession about this - it's simply not my field of expertise.

  • @scarred2112 tnx,.... wish u luck (on what u do),.. :)

I don't wanna annoy you but,..,

what pickups do you suggest for "Heavy Rock" on the singlecut....

and what do you think about the "Stu Hamm" Fender Urge,...

    I actually own one,....

  • This was back in the day when guitar world was a little more honest about things. Nowadays if the trem pulls a guitar out of tune, he won't even use or mention it....

  • @juliuscaesarize This vid is 5 years old. The newer vids are better, not much better, but an improvement.

  • can I use this guitar for metal?

  • @DereMemo well i know a lot of hard rock bands use them such as story of the year go listen to them and see if thats the distortion setting you like

  • @DereMemo Absolutely: I got the Wife a Custom 24 SE & jam metal riffs all the time (I'm a bassist and guitar is for fun & songwriting in my case). It's amazing how a low-midrange guitar is such quality compared to my first bass (1990) - *barely* playable whereas the PRS SEs are killer, and the only upgrades I can see are locking tuners and possibly upgraded pickups... down the road, the stock pups are great for all types of music. I'm going to sell/trade my MIJ Jackson for a Singlecut.

  • @DereMemo yes

  • HOW DO YOU GET THAT SOUND?????!!!!!!

  • @shakar92 A Really Nice Amp. :D We have a small practice amp that The Wife's Custom 24 SE sounds *really* good thru, but I just tried both a Single & Doublecut (thinking hard about selling/trading my MIJ Jackson for a Singlecut - I'm a semi-pro Bassist, and the bigger neck is more comfy) through an Amp not even that much better at the local GC, and it sounded HUGE! I'd love to be able to afford a nice combo amp with some power behind it or a 2x12" that I can run stereo effects through.

  • Is there a big difference between the custom 24 (with trem) and the singlecut (also with trem)?

  • unfortunately, they dont make the singlecuts in good colors anymore...only white, black and orange...its a shame...they were so pretty in other colors

  • this or jackson dxmg

  • Do anyone knows what does he uses t play the guitar through? Amp, pedals ?

  • @ColdmaN5 I'm stuck on both at the moment. I need a new guitar. My buddy is a PRS fan as has a few so he let me try some. I've also heard his tone and it is great! My honest opinion(even though I'm a Schecter fan)... I think PRS' are better.

  • @iHateBeingViet i would get the prs se singlecut tremolo. I have an esp ltd mh327 and its amazing, esp really makes good guitars but i dont like a les paul type guitar. Why I would buy the prs is because i really hate the classic les paul bridge(tune-o-matic), but that are personal preferences. I sugest you go to a guitarcenter and just try them out.

  • EVERY PRS guitar sounds like it was crafted by the hands of gods

  • What is used in this video?

  • anybody out there would you recommend this? i really think about getting one...i mostly play modern rock stuff... but also older things like eric clapton ac dc guns n roses etc...

  • @kleschtremania I had an 870 dollar Jackson dinky and this guitar blows it away. I traded that guitar in for the se w/o the trem. I play mainly pop punk at shows but at home I play metal, blues amd a little jazz and it works well for all of that. Great attention to detail as well.

  • whats so funny at 5.00?

  • hahahaha press "6" much times you can!

  • hey, do you recommend this guitar in order to play modern rock (not blues or jazz!)

    like billy talent?

    thx

  • Thanks for the Video

  • I wish I had 600 bucks... I need another electric for drop B so I don't have to retune all the time and so wish I had a PRS....

  • 8:36 -8:40 OMG, SO RUDE :O

  • Keep pressing 5:00 for a surprise...

  • @jayman30001234 now that is funny

  • @jayman30001234 Hahahha, nice!

  • @jayman30001234 Haha! Very funny dude...=)

  • @jayman30001234

that scared the crap out of me o0....

  • @jayman30001234

    u are sick bro :)

  • Comment removed

  • I've had the singlecut one for a while now and amongst my really pricey gear it still doesn't sound silly at all. I personally changed the pups because i thought they somehow lacked definition on high gain settings...but the stock pups were totally decent. I don't understand how on earth ppl can bash this guitar. Mine was played by severak luthiers, pro jazz players and friends from the guitar industry and none of them had anything bad to say about, they were all like wow that a great guitar !

  • Are these guitars good for pop punk?

  • @des9206 A bright pink hello kitty squire would be great for pop punk, mostly because it would match the music you would be playing.

  • @Guitarplayer22222

Well that's quite a cute comment there. I was actually hoping for some meaningful insight, but instead I receive some satirical comment. Thanks for being of little to no help.

  • @des9206 If you want actual help, a good pop punk guitar can range anywhere from a gibson S.G to a Fender stratocaster. Depending on the exact style of your music, certain guitars will suit your playing better than others. If I would have to recommend a specific guitar I'd a Gibson S.G would be your best bet. You can get a wide variety of tones from an S.G and they aren't terribly expensive. Epiphone also makes more reasonably priced variation of the S.G, but you will sacrifice some quality.

  • @Guitarplayer22222

Thanks for actually helping and giving sincere suggestions. Much appreciated. I'm not a really good guitar player as I'm still a beginner, but as I progress I'll want to play music from bands like Incubus & 311. Would this guitar suffice for bands like that as well as pop punk?

  • @des9206 An S.G will play virtually any style. I've had mine for around 3 years, and i can play anything from blues to metal on it. No matter what tone or style your going for, an S.G is a safe bet.

  • I've had my Custom for 2 1/2 yeas now and I still love the shit out of it. Kudos to PRS for finally branching off into the land of budget guitars.

  • is the single cut good for metal?

  • beautiful guitar...

  • Michael J Fox... didn't know he could play guitar...

  • @SexyheksieAMM i was hopeing for some johnny b goode lol

  • @SexyheksieAMM Check Back to the future

  • The SE Custom's neck pickup is just so sweet :D

  • I tried this guitar out, was absolutley awful !!

It might have just been the model but still.. there was practically no different in the 3 pickup settings it was hard to move up and down on the fingerboard made everything i played sound awful !

Compared with the epiphone les paul standard plus i picked up just after, the epiphone was 10x better and £30 less !

    Was PRS SE SINGLECUT

  • You can tell he digs the SE Custom by the way he plays it. He's clearly in that zone that guitar-players get with the right gear. That must have an especially-nice neck. I have a Dean Evo SS that I really-like (I swapped p/u's for Duncan Seth Lovers), but the neck has that PRS wide-thin shape (It's still about as deep as the modern Les Paul '60's neck - It's a big neck). A bit hard to deal with sometimes because my hands are perfectly-suited for a '59 LP neck. The wide-thins don't feel right.

  • Oops, I meant to say they're like a Les Paul SPECIAL Double-Cutaway rather than a PRS Custom 22 (Forgot to include "Special"). Anyway, with the lack of a solid maple-top, the SE Custom is more like an old Special, and like I said, that's a good thing. It's all in the wood (and the pickups properly-amplifying that wood), and mahogany is my favorite-sounding wood. Warm with sweet mids, which is also how the original, early PAF's sounded. Honky-sounding. Love that stuff.

  • Not sure if this was intended in the design or not, but the cool thing about these is that they're like a Les Paul Double-Cutaway rather than say, a Custon 22. Since the maple-top is a veneer (or at least it was last I checked), it doesn't really effect the tone that much, if at all, so what you're basically-hearing is the mahogany, just like with the old Specials. A lot of people viewed them as economy Gibsons, but I disagree. The Specials had their own thing going, and the SE captures it.

  • @ace41r...

I own an american build custom 24 (black cherry) and a billy martin SE and there is just no wayyy i would pick the SE over my custom but that might be personal..

  • im sorry but you suck

  • Excellent playing. Excellent review.

WHY the hell are people putting this guy down? He plays better than you, I'm sure.

  • @KillinUrMans He is a good player, that wasn't my critique of the guy. He completely buried the actual sound of those guitars with his rig, that's just a fact. It would've made a lot more sense if he had started clean and then built it up, to show us how the character of the guitar would get translated as you pop more effects onto it.

  • @zenstain I agree with you that Paul should have started clean and built up from there but aside from that he did make his point. Two budget priced, great guitars. I think he did pretty good overall.

  • @KillinUrMans And I'm pretty sure you have no fucking idea what you are talking about. This guy sucks and this review is bad and you should feel bad!

  • @thenpancrea Care to elaborate? Or are you just another average youtuber with no brain and a loudmouthed keyboard?

  • @KillinUrMans Your mom is just a loudmouth keyboard. I bet you can't even play guitar. Surely you only have bass lol

  • @thenpancrea aaaand you just lost the argument.

    Have a nice day.

  • @KillinUrMans Lolwhatargument? Faggot.

  • @thenpancrea You are dissapoint.

  • Paul is a very versatile player

  • Holy hell... intro was literally... EPIC... btw im 500th like :D

  • Maybe next time we can hear how the guitars actually sound, instead of your effects loop. I'm surprised given that this guy works for Guitar World, he really should know better.

  • @zenstain Great call. I have no idea what that guitar sounds like apart from a slightly out of tune clean demo!

  • Man I would love to have a PRS Mark Tremonti.

  • you ruined the sound for that guitar

  • Everyone rips on this reviewer in pretty much all the reviews he does. I don't get it. 80% of youtubers are delusional humans posting videos of their own wretched playing. The reviews are detailed, yeah his voice is a bit different and hair is kinda stupid, but his playing is better than most. Not perfect, but who cares. It's a guitar review of options settings, etc. etc.

If your only comment is... "his playing sucks..." C'mon... post your videos then.

  • @EricAntonik Totally agree - in my search for a new guitar, I always Favourite this guy's work - always detailed and with plenty of demos for different settings. You're right, most of his detractors are pratts who probably can't play or who only think shredding is worthwhile.

  • @GuitaristFromHell100 - if you think he's a 'not so great player', you clearly don't watch many GuitarWorld Videos...

  • I have the se custom guitar for about 5 months. I like it, but the bar does kind of knock it slightly out of tune and I cant pull up to get squeels, only down.

  • When you play that good, every slab of wood with some strings attached to it will play just as good...

  • good guitar, not so great player.

  • @GuitaristfromHell100 - Not so great player? You have covers of Rammstein songs buddy.

  • @twiggyh4x Not saying he sucked, he's better then whammy from AMS, but I think he uses too many effects.

  • @twiggyh4x rammstein is easy to play epicly easy

  • @twiggyh4x nothing against rammstein songs! but this player over here's still great. I really dig his playing

  • @twiggyh4x honestly, he prolly hasnt that much say in what he does. they prolly tell him how to review each peice of gear. i dnt know...i could be wrong. thats just my guess

  • @twiggyh4x but rammstein is amazing ^^ easy riffs...but great sound and cool stuff

  • @GuitaristfromHell100 You really think so? . I think he is pretty good. It is not easy to play like that. Don't know if you've tried.

  • wich of these should i get? I play blues and rock.

  • what would you prefer id get, an ibanez or a prs...???

  • @MagicAce09 PRS all the way. Got a Tremonti SE 2 weeks ago and I have hardly put the thing down. IMO better than Ibanez, but play with some to see what works best.

  • @servantguitar sure thanks alot!

  • i have the first guitar he plays :) it's not bad :)

  • Should I get the singlecut, I already have a schecter ultra 3 or should I save up a couple of months for a custom24/sc245

  • What does he means with the tunners? which is the problem I don't understand what he try to say :/

  • @0CarlosLore0 he only wishes the prs se custom came with locking tuners so that the guitar wouldn't go out of tune as easily when using the vibrato

  • I just looooove the way PRS' looks... but I can only afford one of these and I really dislike the clean tone...

  • @nico1245c

If you don't like the clean tones, then why don't you swap out the pickups? Run you probably $200 (if you pay some one else to install them) total. When you are buying cheaper guitars like this I like to focus more on what you can't change over what you can. If you like what you can't change, then customize what you can to your likings and you have a guitar you'll love for years on end.

  • @leftfacedown

Or, you know, just sorta turn the gain on your amp up...

  • @nico1245c plug a prs se custom 22 into a quality tube amp such as the egnater tweaker.....then u will hear the amazing tone u can achieve with the guitar and the amp....even with stock pickups....awesome sound!!

  • Are there any differences with the SE Custom 22 and 24?

  • @TheAlvinChannel The Custom 22 has 22 frets, the Custom 24 has 24 frets.

  • @Vanguard448 Well besides the obvious differences is there anything else?

  • @TheAlvinChannel Nothing particularly major, as far as I know.

  • @WhiteFlameXIII sweet, thanks for the insight. i was just wonderin and all. its an ok guitar, to me at least. but im prob. gunna move on to an american strat of some sort. something better. thanks again, that was my first comment on youtube by the way and im glad someone gave a shit enough to answer my question haha

  • is the se custom good for metal?

  • i just got the se custom about 30 minutes ago for my birthday, so siked its sexy and it plays (like evry othr prs guitar) many different tones and sounds and its just about the most amazing guitar ever

  • i have this model but it was discontinued and replaced by the prs se custom anniversary or something. i dont really remember what they renamed it but my question is, because its discontinued does that make the one that i have more valuable?

  • @imonutube80 Not really. It might actually decrease. And being a Korean made, it doesn't really have much value anyways. It would be safe to presume that after the PRS 25th Anniversary models are discontinued at the end of the year, that they will continue to make your guitar again. Its just for this year. Which means that the newer guitar is a bit more valuable and collectable, as it will be discontinued soon. Either way, its still a Korean guitar. So not that valuable to begin with.

  • I have this guitar made in Korea its amazing and was my first NEVER GONNA SELL IT

  • mg he looks so young here !!

  • Grover mini locking Rotomatic tuners are the ideal replacement for these guitars, they drop straight in, the screw holes line up perfectly and they don't require any drilling. A new bone nut, trussrod tweak, fret dress and pro setup, Seymour Duncan Jazz and JB pickups with push pull coil tap on the tone control has turned my SE Custom into the best guitar I've ever owned. Just treat them as a blank canvas, they're amazing value!

  • why is the 3 way switch down near the bridge, rather than on the upper curve like a les paul? i annoys me a bit...makes it look like a epi les paul special which is gross

  • @Rockerboy3872 only some signature se's have the les paul setup the se tremonti is a great example they keep it cheap by not having to use all the hardware they have on their normal singlecuts so they just use a custom setup.

  • แหลมไปนิด

  • i don't know which one i should get!!! some one please help!!

  • @AustinSk84life95 Hey the custom ha a thinner neck takes 9's well and actually shreds and sweeps with the bet of them if set up right like mine. The singlecut has a thicker neck and feels more like a Les Paul if that's what you dig. I have the real SC and strung it with tens it is a shorter scale not sure about the SE though. If its a 24.5 scale I would do tens 25.5 scale I would do the 9's Later

  • @guitargeant ok kool thanks man u helped alot!

  • @AustinSk84life95 if you want a thicker sound i would say the singlecut if not then the custom. if your going for versatality then the custom is best in my opinion.

  • omg what amp is in this vid it is amazing!!!

  • I have both! PRS SC245 Birds, locking tuners Ten top, McCarty pickups.... My favorite axe! My PRS SE custom 24 the ultimate workhorse! Tones are close and feel is close they rock!! The ultimate backup! WOW for the gap in dollars

  • Everything that I have ever bought that was made in America, has been complete junk... everything except my PRS.

  • This guitar is actually.... surprisingly nice... hmmm.....

  • anyone know what amp he uses in these demos? His tone is immense in places!

  • @hammertime16 Thats what I was wondering. That flanger sounds good as hell whatever it is.

  • i usually use electric guitar clean with more jazzy songs or acoustic sounding i use alot of fingerstyle so its a bit anoying most of these videos have almost no time with the guitar clean lol.

  • i love the SE Custom 22, too bad its discontinued :(

  • god such a ugly finsih flat tops are so unatractive

  • My band and I just played at the hard rock cafe in Baltimore. We used PRS and it was awesome!!!!

  • Thanks SO much for sharing this. I looked at a quilt top PRS single cut today & wanted some expert info (I'm a beginner).

Suggestion from a TV broadcast man: Your lapel mike is on wrong - lots of rustling from your clothes.

    Other than that -

  • The quality of these is better than a $3,500 Gibson Les Paul.

  • good sound like LPaul

  • im selling a prs se custom with SD jazz and JB pick ups on ebay on £350 bidding starts at 330 search it if your interested (:

  • The neck pup is way too tight, its a metal pup, the mids are far too tight, me no likey that....

  • Fender make superior instruments. The PRS lack the sparkle and richness of a Fender Telecaster - which it is trying so desperate to imitate, and sound boxy and lifeless, whereas the Telecaster actually behaves live a real organic instrument. The PRS singlecut and the custom both suffer from that robotic and sterile lifeless sound that PRS is known. Unless you like your guitar sounds to be heavily processed through multiple levels of distortions there is no point in having a PRS.

  • @jprincehouston Don't you think that if they were trying so desperately to imitate a Fender Telecaster that they would use single coils? And PRS's are more popular in rock/metal. Telecasters are more for classic rock and country. Not arguing about what it sounds like, that's your opinion, but they are not trying to replicate a Telecaster.

  • @jprincehouston fender doesnt make great instruments anymore... and nothing sounds better than a prs to me. the tonewoods are the highest quality and the craftsmanship is top notch and beautiful.

  • @jprincehouston how is this trying to imitate the fender telecaster in any way?? the only logic i can see in your argument is that they both have six strings??

  • I would never classify a telecaster as "rich". They are twangy and tinny and have a place in music that only they can occupy.

  • Comment removed

  • some body know how much it cost?? the korean of course..

  • Do these have coil tap?

  • @yellowshirtguy nope

  • @yellowshirtguy No, but you can install a push/pull switch easily and wire them up to split.

  • does prs se custom are made in korea?

  • @ant1mag3 yeah they are :) anything what comes from korea is great i have the prs se singlecut, 1999 peavey wolfgang special and a 1998 epiphone les paul standard and there all korean and are great, well built, on a budget guitars XD

  • @ant1mag3 Yes

  • PRS se SingleCut are made in korea?

  • prs SE are maid in korea?

  • i have thi model gray, fantastic: light, good sound, easy to play because is 24.75 scale. i use it to play yngwie malmsteen, michael angelo batio, paul gilbert, santana and iron maiden. GREAT GUITAR. i think the PRS are the best guitar just like jackson guitars

  • are these the same pickups as the se custom 24?

  • @nickstur no the custom 24 uses a higher end HQ pickup compared to these cheaper 'Korean' made SE series.

  • @FinalFreedomEclipse i said the Custom SE 24, this looks like the se 22

  • @nickstur my mistake - Im guessing they would still use the same pickups - less overhead costs for PRS

  • nice! i got my siglecut just last Wednesday. nice guitar tho.

    covers my music well!

    GOOD JOB PRS!

  • what brand of tuners do some of you owners out there reccomend to replace the stock ones on these? i'm considering getting the singlecut, but if i did i would definetly swap those out (along with an adjustable bridge as well)
