  • Matt Smith is a complete miscast - and besides I don't like "him" - and the Nazi's sure did not act out in a big frame against Jewish people: they rather tried to not overdue it before the election.

It's much more interesting to read the diaries of Christopher Isherwood - what a delightful and considerate person. The BBC took it's freedom with the source material and checked off about every cliche available about German history of the 1930's and gay.

  • A little less singing would have been fine. It's grating on the nerves a bit.

  • the greates movie i ever seen, i've cry at the end... the life is so complicated

  • Omg so amazing :')

  • That was wonderful!

  • I cracked up when his mother asks "Wouldn't you rather be a Doctor?"

  • Isherwood proved a shallow person in the end when snubbing the man who's life he had changed, poignant and sad if revealing of the differences in how people see their common life experiences. Bittersweet world we live in.

  • Barely five minutes in... How many Doctor Who references can you make?

HOLY FUCKING SHIT - Captain Adelaide Brooks is the Doctor's mother?!

  • That was so sad! Jeez!

  • j'adore!

  • Broke my heart a bit.

  • Oh goodness. So beautiful. :')

  • thank you so much for uploading this.....:))

  • Thank you so much for uploading this.

Isherwood and Berlin both have a special place in my heart.

  • @mravka9 <3

  • Wow that was amazing !

  • An amazing film

  • Amazing film! Thanks for uploading it!

  • Thank you so much for uploading this. I've been wanting to see this movie ever since I saw a preview some time ago. :-)

  • stojadinovicdushan..such a great film...love that brit humor

  • @tubeyoujj sure :-)

  • such a good movie, you always find the best stuff online or youtube .....

  • the Time Lord and the Dream Lord. Qu'elle coincidence.

  • @LiZeroZero I was thinking the same!!!

  • a very good film :)

BUT the German accent is unbearable (especilly Iddo Goldberg's) for I know that no German speaks that badly =D

  • Thank you from new zealand

  • So Seedy! Buggers in Berlin, would've been a great alternate title.

  • this is the first on-screen impression i have of the doctor... xD

  • This is a wonderful movie, and inspirational at that. But I cant leave a serious comment when The Doctor is in it so I am obligated to day... Let's kill Hitler.

  • I don't care if the is the Doctor, this makes me uncomfortable.

  • I can't think of the Doctor the same.

    I'll burst out laughing.

  • I can tell BBC has it's little tricks.

Two Doctor Who characters in one movie.

    ;3

    Doctor and Adelaide Brook.

  • @DollDesignMe Screw it. Three.

  • Beautiful story, Matt Smith really did a great job :) I find it funny how Christopher's mum wanted him to be a doctor, and Matt is 'The Doctor' ;)

  • I didn't know what to expect when I started watching this, but I really did love this story.

  • Absolutely marvelous piece of movie! Brilliantly done!

  • im in tears

  • nazis killed and cought gays too, not many know that

  • BORN IN NEW JERSEY U.S.A IN 1951, BY THE AGE OF 8, I REALIZED THAT I WAS IN MORTAL DANGER, BUT LUCKILY HAD THE INTELLECT AND TALENT TO BECOME INVISIBLE-- AND THEREBY SURVIVE. I COULD, AND DID, "PASS". NOT ALL OF US COULD. I WOULD ALSO SURVIVE REAGAN'S HIV HOLOCAUST, AND THE FUNDAMENTALCASE EVANJELLYSKULL NUTZI'S (A MONIKER I CREATED JUST FOR THEM) GLEN EYRIE PROTOCOLS. I KNOW THE SECRET OF APPLE COMPUTER'S LOGO (GOOGLE 'ALAN TURING') ... AND THAT KNOWLEDGE IS THE MORTAL ENEMY OF RELIGION.

  • TO JILL HAWORTH: I WAS THE 16 YEAR OLD WHO SPOKE BRIEFLY WITH YOU IN 1967, BACKSTAGE AT THE PAPERMILL PLAYHOUSE ('THERE'S A GIRL IN MY SOUP'), REGARDING THOSE DESPICABLY IMPERCEPTIVE NYC THEATRE CRITIC REVIEWS OF YOUR BRILLIANT ORIGINATION OF SALLY BOWLES IN THE OBC OF "CABARET". YOU HUGGED AND KISSED ME, AND SAID (AS SALLY BOWLES) "DARLING, I HAVE NO IDEA WHO YOU ARE, BUT I LOVE YOU", AND THEN WHISKED OFF. THIS BRILLIANT FILM VINDICATES YOU ENTIRELY. MY SINCEREST THANKS FOR THAT MEMORY. BRAVA!

  • I feel bad that I was not able to become enthralled by this movie,I had such high hopes because of the reviews given by my friends,I think I will watch it again

  • emmm just DONT SMOKE in front of ur suffocating mother!!!!!!

  • Something Christopher Isherwood and the Doctor have in common, they feel better not trapped in one place and both are practically allergic to domestics. XD I looked up the movie for the sake of Matt Smith and fell in love with the story itself. XD Thanks for uploading this movie!

  • Thanks a lot for the upload.. Nice piece of movie..

  • @dor3k sure x

  • it's wonderful and has captured the spirit of the book and the times very well. thank you for uploading; i have been wanting to see it since i heard the book had been made into a movie. " ...the people are so strange...the nazis are getting more of a foothold, and they[the people] seem to accept it...." i keep hoping that the past will not repeat itself....but looking around...ah.

  • His mom is the woman who played Adelaide Brooks in Doctor Who.

Seriously, is there like a law somewhere that says if you're a British actor you have to be on Doctor Who?

  • but but but... Matt Smith... I want you to be mineeeeeeeeeee

  • Thank you so much for putting this up, I was searching for this so long :D

  • Smith was absolutely brilliant in this. It was a wonderful film.

Thanks so much for uploading it in full!

  • @xMikanNamix <3

  • A very gripping piece. Hard not to stay with it. Well done.

  • WAAAT! *Le gasp* NO COMMERCIALS. ARE YOU GOD !?

  • Thank you for uploading this movie! It is really good! Matt Smith does an amazing job.

  • 20 minutes in and i cant stop smiling for some reason....

  • Oh god.. Matt Smith... <3 LOVE IT

  • Ah! 5 minutes in the movie, on the train, IT'S THE DREAM LORD! From Amy's Choice...

  • Wait..did anyone notice that heinz looked like hitler... plus there's that german sign every where ...standing for hitler...gosh I watch way too much law and order svu I'm always lookiing for clues

  • Can someone explain? I n the end, it said his brother "shared his mother's bed" what does that mean?

  • @AmbiguityofExistence probably just wanted to be close to his mother in case she needed something. didn't you notice the brother flirting with Heinz and how he hated "mummy".

people sometimes share a bed with an ailing parent.

  • @AmbiguityofExistence His brother fell ill and died after their mother.

  • I loved this movie. I know the movie "Cabaret" was based off the same book at this was but I feel like this is the better, in uncensored version. Plus it has Matt Smith so bonus!

  • Damnit I cryed..it was so awesome...

  • This movie was wonderful ...

  • Growing up, he was one of my favorite writers. After watching this, and seeing what a bastard he was, I no longer think of his books, the same.

  • I meant yummy

  • @brian121698 :-)

  • Hot gay guys=hot and tummy sex...its that simple

  • This was very very good! I did not expect to watch something sooo queer p:

  • Ahahaha! Use our money to pay for cnt O_O That's brilliant.

  • Wow. Thank you for uploading. Such a good movie!

  • That other guy on the train is definitely the dream lord.

  • thx for sharing....

  • I love Matt's voice!!!

  • I'm speechless. This movie is amazing and I've missed out on a wonderful film by being in America. Thanks so much for uploading this.

  • Good movie.

  • I hate how after I watched this film I felt all "cultured" and I started speaking like an english person until I get a phone call and my brethren utters, "yo wassup dawg!" *sigh* back to reality I guess. Loved the main character. Thanks for the upload.

  • My friend recommended this movie to me and honestly I feel speechless but for me I talk to much to let that last

  • there is a mistake in the film right at the beginning 0:07:38

"Der Anschlusszug nach Eisehuettenstadt von Gleis 1"

In 1931 this place didn't exist. The town was built in the beginning of the 1950s.

I can imagine that the production company just went to the new Berlin Hauptbahnhof and listened to the loudspeaker announcements ... picking the first one that had a German touch to it hehe

  • An adventure in 1930's Nazi Germany? Why, he IS the Doctor!

  • @EarlRegent no.

    Just die.

  • Oh bloody hell this woman is my mom!

  • I love the movie but the actor that plays Christopher has a terrible grasp of the Queen's English.

  • "Wouldn't it be so nice to be a DOCTOR as well?"

Oh, i see what you did there.

  • this is a great movie that many people can learn from

  • Thanks for uploading! I enjoyed this movie a lot!

  • zkhz

  • Their German is awful, I don't understand a word! lol

  • @Doridantoni Better than the Chinese in Firefly. *cringe*

  • This is a really great movie.. I gives you stuff to think about! Especially about the people around you! THANKS FOR UPLOADING

  • @THManchesterMoon glad you enjoyed it.

  • Thank you for uploading. The film deals with so many aspects, political and social, that haven't changed over the years. Truths about love, betrayal, gays treated as second class citizens, and government deception that we should all learn and remember so we don't have to suffer through them again and again.

  • @gritsnsand <3

  • "Wouldn't it be so nice to be a DOCTOR as well?"

    LMFAO

  • This was so good!

  • I love this movie it made me cry!! Its so gay :) My friend looks exactly like Matt Smith from Doctor Who. I'm going to shoe him this movie. I want to read his books!!

  • BUT HE IS THE DOCTOR!!

  • I actually really liked this movie, made me cry actually. I especially enjoyed the character of Jean Ross, i loved her spirited and larger than life personality.

  • Oh my god, that typewriter at 0:25 looks exactly like my typewriter! NO WAY!

  • Question: does Matt really smoke?

  • just finshed it. That was ..amazing..like really good

  • also. CAN I GO TO BERLIN!

  • Im looking for this , and bam its right fucking there...Wow. I was looking for this, Isherwood was great

  • well later he became a doctor...

  • wow that was really good, I walys thought isherwood was just one of those expat L.A art fags from the 70's.

  • What in the world is the matter with the sea at 1:20:29? There's no tide coming--it looks like a picture.

  • Isherwood's mother seems to suffer from the condition known as "twitus britannicus."

  • Dr Who is a fag! awesome!

  • @etrezfzger Yes! Eye New it!

  • Fantastic. Thank you so much for posting.

  • The not so tall man at 41:20, didnt he play the dream lord in one of the doctor who episodes?

  • @antaloliver yup indeed

  • ..D':

that... Was actually quite beautiful. I just wanted to see it for the Doctor, now I'm in love with it[=<33

  • I love it. I fell in love all over again. But one thing:

Pre lets Kill Hitler: Awwww.... this is so sweet. I love i, aww shit Im in tears. Matt Smith's such a good actor. He's perfect with everyrole he ever played.

Post Let's Kill Hitler: Screw the Grandfather paradox. The Matt Smit Paradox. GOING TO WRITE A CROSSOVER FANFIC.....

  • This is a very moving film. I hadn't expected to like it as much as I did but I will say that I feel all the more glad I watched it.

  • I loved this movie! Nearly moved me to tears...made me laugh, and Matt Smith is fantastic as always! :)

  • This is a wonderful new interpretation of the Isherwood story, I was glued to every frame of the movie.

  • "Wouldn't it be so much nicer to be a Doctor as well?" ..FORESHADOWING!

  • OOooooo. Sexy Ben from Interview with a Call Girl. Man, he's in the most unusual things.

  • What a lovely movie(':

  • Thank you so much for uploading this! I hope it stays up- it's so amazing. It's sexy and sweet and everything I've ever wanted in a movie. It's a dream come true to see Matt Smith kissing all these boys. :)

  • @clairerobby1 :-)

  • That movie was so amazing. The beginning was so incredibly sexy...

And then the ending was just so amazing. I loved it. Great movie. Thank you so much for posting it.

  • @brenna963 xx

  • Wow... that was fantastic and beautiful and heartbreaking. Thanks for uploading for us Americans who otherwise wouldn't be able to see it.

  • @SinUnAdios pleasure

  • Quite well done. I haven't seen Matt Smith as the Doctor, yet, but if he always act so magnificently I imagine it's a real pleasure to watch him!! I loved all the accents, btw. That was really cute. Although I wasn't fully convinced of Heinz' German, the rest was quite realistic. Good job, and thanks for uploading :-)

  • @Lucatari x

  • Wonderful film. Brilliant work by all of the actors. Thank you so much for uploading this.

  • This is just too perfect for a Christmas present :D

  • great movie. cant wait to see what Matt dose with his career after being the doctor for a while longer

  • Very good film! I loved it! The absolute best gay-themed movie I've ever seen.

  • Thanks for the information

  • Great, and suberbly done. Terrific cast, wonderful production values, and as close to the Berlin Stories as could be, thankfully unvarnished. Thanks for the upload!

  • @MuseDuCafe <3

  • Smith reminds me of Renfield in Dracula Dead and Loving It...just...his voice in this one, lmfao.

  • "Wouldn't it be so much better to be a doctor"

    oh he is. he is.

  • God, I just love Matt Smith! I can't wait to see him do more! So sad that he's not going to be doing Doctor Who anymore though. :/

  • @bibibabkagirl what are you talking about? the writer said that Matt Smith will be in Season 7

  • @sasukekuun83 Really?? Good. I just heard he was leaving on the Facebook group a while ago. That's good news. :)

  • This must be the basis for Cabaret! Wish they had made it more faithful to the original

  • @frank19154 Isherwood first wrote; Mr Norris Changes Trains / Sally Bowles / Goodbye to Berlin. Later, he wrote The Berlin Stories, threading all those together. After that, he wrote a stage play "I am a Camera, which became 'Cabaret.' This movie is very close to The Berlin Stories, 'the original.'.

  • I can just imagine John Barrowman watching this and thinking "This is quite homorotic"

  • @dwfangirl11 lol :-)

  • That was a great movie! Show the hardships that the people went through in Berlin when the Nazis came. Remember the people who died

  • Well this was incredibly depressing.

  • There was supposed to be a sex scene around 27:00 DX

  • What a spectacularly well-made film! To be honest, I think my favorite part of the whole thing is just how stiffly and precisely Matt Smith delivers each line! What a skillful actor, especially for only being 29! Absolutely brilliant!

  • THAT'S THE DREAM LORD! WATCH OUT DOC- I mean christopher...

  • Kinda sad, though! I can't believe he received such an opportunity to be with his lover and turn it down because of the situation. Oh, well... his life, NOT MINE.
