  • Rob sounds fucking vicious on this recording

  • rob with long hair, tipton with a moustache, and, dave mustaine?

  • I am and will forever be in awe of Priest but the visual of Halford with long hair? Who would have knew!

  • Well I like them.

  • Anyone recognized their drummer (upper left bloke) was in Lord of the Rings?

This version is pretty neat, the drumming is more disco-ish which kinda fits their early material for sure.

  • @rockarolla306 hahahaha

  • lol amazing - never heard this version b4! dam i was still listening to the beegees when this came out - lmao,,,,,,

  • the metal gods live 4 ever .

  • fuck yea !!!!!!!!!!!!! judas priest rules

  • 3 people are *"*%*ç&&/%ç/&*"%ç"* ^^

  • Was John Hinch still on the drums at this point, or did they switch over to Alan Moore by this time?

  • What was there like, 3 people in attendance?

  • where the fuck is the studio version

  • @misterbarbister haha

  • jajjajjajajaajjaja....

la cancion es la que cuenta no tus apetitos sexuales fuck you!!!!

  • Wow - where did you GET this?? Thanks so much for uploading. BTW to all the posers, yes Rob had long hair back then, Glenn, KK and Ian wore longsleeved hippieclothes and sometimes widebrimmed hats, and had a bluesy sound, that's where metal came from, and Priest were one of the pioneering acts in the creation of metal. And Rob is gay so I doubt very much that he screwed any chicks perhaps the odd one for publicity value

  • I bet Halford fucked a ton of hot chicks back then with his long hair, and long metal rod....

  • @AmericanSurvival101 dude he's fucking gay!!! so i really don't think he was fucking women... learn ur priest dude :-)

  • @SuperjointRitual29 maybe then he didnt came out of the closed yet..........aniway not gay, but with that vocals he could fuck me for sure :P

  • RIP halford hair

  • except for the ripper..... or if you like.... jack the knife....

  • this is the real priest not many people get to see, thank goodness for the net.

  • Very interesting!! Sounds like a bootleg recorded at an outdoor festival. WOW!!

    What an incredible find!

  • Ian Hill = Bill Ward

  • Didn't know Meriadoc Brandybuck was part of the original line up of JP

  • @Auiue lol didn't you know? The books were based off of JP's first world tour.

  • Halford with hair!!!! TIPTON WITH A MUSTACHE!!!!! DEAR GOD!!!!!!!!

  • @sailorpsycho He looks like a porn star. *eyes flutter*

  • Classic :D

Halford ha ha ha, he is a GOD within this time.

  • wtf is wrong with his voice in this?

  • @marhoppy1 Don't think he'd figured out the melody yet. Or maybe he hadn't discovered his true style.

  • Halford looks like Julian Assange!

  • The Ripper performed by Jawbreakers, authors: Tipton, Halford, Downing. Jawbreakers are: Vox Mark E Gunnardo, Drums Frodo "Badass" Hellmount, Guitar Kari Halonenen, Guitar Jonas Tengil, Bass David Skokräm.

    Video by Mark E Gunnardo.

  • I don't care...bad production or not,,,this song is KILLER! Priest will always be the sound track to my life. The under laying ANGER in these songs speaks to me.Anger tyhat can be released in thrashing to this music..I will take it to my grave! GOD bless the band..

  • omg, rex from pantera plays the bass guitar here!?

  • Glenn Tipton with moustache??? hmmm ...weird.

Maybe someone gave Glenn a memo that told him that he was in Judas Priest....not Blue Oyster Cult..........I think Ian Hill was born with a beard and moustache.

  • @karenpato1 Haha, he does look like Buck Dharma sorta.

  • @karenpato1 you think Glenn with moustache is wierd? i tell what's wierd - Rob with long hair :D

  • Priest went through more drummers than Spinal Tap before Scott Travis.

  • Whoever is talking during this performance, whose putrid voice degrades this masterpiece, should be drawn and quartered, their remains set on fire.

  • @SonofMorgoth

Yeah and then pissed on, left to dry, burned AGAIN, and their ashes recyled into toilet paper.

  • THEY MUST'VE JUST TURNED 21 HERE !!!!!! CLASSIC !!!!!!

  • @RedmawJoe26 most of them were in their mid or late 20's

  • I like groping young girls

  • Studio version is better, but this is awesome too ;)

  • So Early & So Metal.......

  • @madometal

totally agree with you man: notwithstanding is very early is truly metal

  • SWEET! I picture Heaven is where everyone can sing like Halford, cause down here, NO ONE CAN! Thank you for this gem!!!!!

  • anyone notice how KK Downing looks like Dave Mustaine in this picture

  • @NinjaJedi11 Give him a stache and darken his hair

    and he'd be Cliff Burton

  • @NinjaJedi11

maybe they are cousins or maybe they both evoluted from the same monkey

  • @leunamme888 Dude I already don't understand evolution (but I can speel it aparentaly) don't make it more confusing. But how do 2 people come from 1 monkey? That makes no sense at all. *sigh* (softly)Damn it!

  • hahaha...never saw this picture before. there is Rob Halford when he had hair hahaha. and I guess Glenn Tipton was not in the band yet, or is the one with the mustache him?

  • @fierrote Yes, the one with the mustache is in fact Glenn!

  • This is about Jack the Ripper right? it has to be cause of the lyrics

  • Halford is the original ass-ripper

  • @MrScootergreenbud It gives a new meaning to "Point Of Entry" doesn't it?

  • @jetwagon ...and idiots like you :)

  • Who the fuck are you?

  • @jetwagon Just one of the people who think you have a horrible opinion :)

  • Thanks....I love you too.

  • Ian Looks like Jesus..

  • ...so young ones...back in the fog of..London time...eheh....

  • I like Halford with his hair... looked alot better back in the day. More metal. Bald isn't bad either, though long hair is metal. You gotta work for bald, if you're young anyway, I suppose Judas Priest don't have to work for baldness these days. Still great heavy metal, 40 years and still going.

  • @Simpson654 what about brian johnson or paul diano?

  • Priest went through alot of drummers in the 70s before settling on Les Binks then Dave Holland in the 80s. I think the guy in the video (upper left) is John Hinch, who does rather resemble Rick Allen of Def Leppard. :)

  • @DanJ30 Dang - he sure does!

  • @DanJ30 he does, that's who I thought it was at first!

    Cherrio!

  • Lucy who watch this Live

  • ロブさんフサフサですやん!

  • Never knew Rick Allen was in the band (lol)

  • Awesome !

  • Priest's early albums suffered from less than great production... but damn they had great songs!!!

  • @FishnMusician Did they? I can't imagine Sad Wings sounding better than it did.

  • long live The Priest!!

  • I.......Like =) this version

  • Rob Halford with hair!!! Long Live JP!!

  • ian looks like a genie =)

  • haha look at ian!

  • thank al gore for the internet and the chance to hear this great song.lol.the beast form the east.....................all hail the priest......rory

  • So the guy in the right would be John Hinch?

    Or Ian Hil?

  • Jesus

  • "This one here is about a guy who goes around raping little school girls, and I'm sure you're all into that sort of thing. It's the Ripper" XD Glenn is just too hilarious!!!!!!

  • Hahahaha so true! XD Thanks for linking me, man B)

    ILBD

  • hahahahhaahahahah,,,,,,,yea, and Liam neeson beside him...

  • @XenoNYC haha indeed

  • lol rob halford with hair.

  • I think You Tube should just be about videos. But this is an awesome song and has always been my favorite.

  • i hyave every priest album from sad wings till ram it down on vinyl all in great condition check out mrrockwizard and comment on my video selection

  • beautiful great cut

  • That's an awesome picture!! Everyone looks so different. Glenn's rockin' the stash and looks like a '70s porn star. KKs pretty much the same. Ian looks young and pretty cool (that's Ian at that point, right?) Is that Les Binks?

This is a cool version. Very raw. That's what was great about the real bands of back then. Not like now. They grew and matured. Now, the dickheads making "music" look like they have publicists and wardrobe people already...but no talent!!

  • yes it's ian :P

  • Cool!!

  • Priest music has its distinctive sound. You can tell priest music from other music being played. I am a collector trying to collect hard to find Items such as older albums that cannot be found. I am in the process of obtaining old stuff to keep for future generations to come.

  • Good luck with your search and finds. I have a "Rocka Rolla" LP among my vinyl prized possesions as well as all other early JP, all keepers. Certainly their best period, my first show being in 79'.

Its cool about perpetuating the old stuff. Glad to know that some kids steer away from commercial mainstream crap and opt to listen to AND create original material with "old influence". \m/

  • You are absolutely correct on this. If Rob Halford dies, the LP will be worth millions of dollars because there are none made like the original. I am going to keep searching and downloading paid songs to keep for generations to come.

  • i went in toa record store and found their first like 10 albums on vinyl

i got stained class and sin after sin from there, my buddy got defenders and hell bent

  • I can tell ya one thing, If you ever run into an 8 track tape with priest on it, Hide it and do not let the public see it, there is no 8 track player and 8 track tapes being made. The cassettes are barely hanging on or already has been replaced with cds.

  • Excellent!

  • John Hinch looks like Art Garfunkel.

  • Ian Hill looks like Jesus lol

  • Perhaps he is

  • lmao

  • Comment removed

  • @USEH567 Ian Hill looks like Rasputin

  • Glenn looks like Jeff Foxworthy

  • Man! They look young and all powerd about music!!

  • Wow that's wild, thanks for posting. :)

    Never heard that one before.

(this recording, of course I've heard the song)

  • The GODS!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I never saw glenn with whiskers until now.

  • haha Glenn looks funny with a moustache

  • Man, it's hard to recognize anyone in that picture(except Rob) but I'll try (correct me if I'm wrong):

Top Left Corner - Either Simon Phillips or Alan Moore (but I think it's Simon)

Top Right Corner - Glenn Tipton

    Bottom Left Corner - K. K. Downing

Bottom Right Corner - Ian Hill

    Middle - Rob Halford

  • That pic looks to be from 74/75. The drummer could be John Hinch. But who knows.

  • I think it's Alan Moore. When Simon Phillips played with them Rob had already had his hair cut, and at this time he had dyed it black.

  • The top left corner is John Hinch

  • I don't think it's Simon. He was never was a true member of the band.

  • me quedo con el cover de mercyful fate.!!!

  • I saw Judas Priest recently, they were amazing.

  • ...nevermind I heard one or two

  • I think this might've been before Rob learned how to use head voice, hence lack of high notes.

  • Have you never heard "Rocka Rolla"? Run of the Mill? Give it a go.. And he did a loot of the high notes without sorting to head voice back then.

  • I used to have the cd, don't know what happened to it but I might buy the vinyl soon if I can find it. Yea there were high notes there, but they weren't as common nor as high and, from what I've seen in old live videos, even less. I think that's what I was trying to get at originally.

  • He did a LOT of high notes during the 70s, more than he ever did later on. Just check the Dreamer Deceiver video from Old Whistle, its from around the same time as this clip.

  • I've seen the Old Whistle (1975), and I'm not sure if he did more high notes in the 70s, though I wouldn't doubt it, but I know most of his high notes were higher in the 80s (then again his songs were generally just higher in the 80s), so I tend to see some of the 70s notes more lightly because they're usually lower high notes. You may be right though; just my observation here.

  • have you ever heard dreamer deceiver live?i have it in a bootleg and the sound is awful BUT HALFORD FUCKING ROCKS!he goes even higher than the studio version!and clear as crystal!

  • Dunno if you replied to h0micideXmusic or me, but yes, I've got two different '75 versions of it, one from this show. Decent quality.

  • Believe me, when I was at the early gigs they were BRILLIANT musically but as you say, Rob's voice was like nothing ever heard before, unbelievable! They were VERY loud, tons of dry ice but been a fan ever since. Seen every tour since '75 and at Sheffield last Friday they didn't dissapoint. Apart from Rob having to drop an octave or 2 and not really liking his at times, stooping, he still gives it 100%...Thanks again Priest AND to the future. Let's have a red blooded back to basics album next!

  • @h0micideXmusic

Hell no. There is a performance of Dreamer Deceiver from 4 months earlier where he hit VERY HIGH notes.

  • brilliant live version of the ripper by judas priest on 22.8.75, but in my opinion the version they did at slough on 11.oct 1975 was better.

  • It might have a little better quality, but other than that I think they're pretty equal.

  • this is very diffrent from what end up on sad wings its more darker and it was obvious that the arrangements needed some work.

  • Cool to hear an earlier version

  • Aw man, it's time to bring this version back.
