Also, (and you may have found this, I haven't seen the whole video yet), you know that statue in the middle of the Hall of Stairs is a level entrance, right? In the NES/Game Boy versions, that's how you get into the secret 'Pugsley's Den' - which, on Genesis/SNES, was a hidden door in the lower left corner.

It is pretty similar to the first Addams Family on SNES, MD and micro-computers. They just change the sprite of Gomez for Pugsley but the game is nearly the same, they just cut the freezer, the crypt and the cave.
The real Pugsley's Hunt on SNES is totally different.
