This is a wonderful rock song: can be played anywhere: in a cafe, at a barbie, at a midnight bar. Budding songwriters can learn from this song because the lyrics are meaningful, universal, and express the exciting incipient part of a relationship. Or the renewal of one. The jazz parts give it a muscularity that makes the song appeal to both men and women. The longer soundtrack version has a longer jazz part and finishes brilliantly on that bam-bam ba'ahm that it begins with. A great video-song!

unbelievable song, one which always reminds me just how good David Bowie is.

i still remember as a 19 year old waiting for the song to be premiered on The Tube in the UK one friday evening. Watched it with another Bowie fan and at end of the song we sat there in silence and awe at these vocals. it was then rewinded on the vhs video for at least 2 hours . moments like that stay with you forever. god bless yoy David.

This video-song is compelling to watch. It is like a trailer for the film itself. I suspect the movie did not quite do well in 1986 because the movie's theme of the fight for racial harmony in 1950s London jarred against actual events in 1985 with race riots in London. The song is utterly brilliant. majestic lyrics. Some david bowie songs would be great in musicals and this would be one of them. Bravo Bowie!
