It's so late that I may be using it as a respondse to current political news though.

the pbs debates were fair yes, but why cant we have them cover the concerns of the entire population. That is why the youtube debates were good. And yes, they focused on the frontrunners but examine the candidates from the pbs debates and you can see that obama and clinton are the strongest and most popular candidates. This is how politics work, get used to it?

I just mentioned the subject limitation at the Tavis Smiley forum below, but the question is why not apply that level of balance to a larger area of subjects like there were in the YT debate.

I don't plan to "get used to it" and neither should you if you care. Those candiates are leading because of exposure, (usually) not character or stances. With more equal exposure, the general populace might start to change it's mind.

BTW, I see no "analysis" of the PBS debates that show that Obama or Clinton are the strongest candidates. Most popular... maybe, but they were hardly the only ones getting applause. In terms of actual answers to questions, not a chance.

Also, may I ask why you have a separate account dedicated to me? It's sort of weirding us out a little.

The Sock Rocks! I agree, the Dem "debates" suck. The Republican "debates" suck for that matter. The problem is, as you've stated, that there is no debating going on. No one gets the same question so judging each candidate is impossible.

Yup. If you saw the PBS forum (dems) it wasn't that bad. The questions had more to do with race/class/health so it didn't cover the whole spectrum, but the format was so much better it wasn't funny.

Maybe if only half of the Republicans show up in September, it will be more interesting ;)

If you are referring to the closing line, then no, Gravel is not more of the same. I think he could work on his presentation some but he at least knows that things are screwed and they aren't going to change with "top teir" candidates.

What is more of the same is exactly that, and the times you mention, which is typical.

I may not do this again anyhow, although I got better at it and it wouldn't be quite as bad a second time.

Sounds like the republicans are all being lame so far except McCain and Paul, I don't even know what's going to happen to that debate.

I'm trying not to "side" with a particular candidate and end up making campaign videos, but since I am in favor of honesty and actual thinking, that tends to favor some over others. No one is perfect of evil, it's shades of grey, but you can probably guess roughly what my ranking would be.

Republicans are a little tricker because some fo the bottom guys are also a bit crazy.

Mike Gravel can only be classified as a 'crazy' candidate if the crazy ones are those with more experience, wisdom and knowledge than any of the others. n e ways, keep up the good vids, sock!

Ha.  Yeah. I think he has an image problem though because he comes on so strong it appears that he is behaving "crazy."

I knew as soon as I saw him in the first debate saying they were all nuts for talking about nuking Iran that he at least had some sense though. A few newscasts confirmed that some. I love how Hillary wants to get rid of him. Gee, I wonder why?

I was bummed to see that the YT compression made Clinton's Red-on-Black text largely illegible. "Resistance is futile" may be recognized by some but "Target acquired" is pretty screwed. Most of the rest of it seems to have survived though despite pushing the small-size boundary a bit.

Do you know who is responsible for question choice, stage placement? I'm wondering if it's also the DNC, not just CNN. Either way, it's a dog and pony show.

The guy who I have initially video responded to mentioned a few names. DNC has some influence but it has more to do with the host. If you look at the different primary debates, they vary some in arrangement but PBS/Tavis Smiley had a WAY better debate format that was about as even if you could hop for for these large scale town-hall/forum type debates.

The stupid thing is I doubt ratings would suffer much if any by making it even. They are just chickensh*t tools.

I object to your phrase "degraded to ... anarchy". No-government is the highest form of government. Which will occur for mankind just before the sun goes nova. You probably meant to say "muppet fascism", or maybe "muppet ochlocracy" or even, God help us, "muppet jingoism".

While less government presence is nice, no governement at all unfortunately leads to a-holes doing whatever they want with so-called authority to appeal to beyond direct warfare. You get increased bullying, large to small scall mob force rule, and no place or time is safe from the guy with hockey mask and speakerphone from showing up and demanding you give him your gasoline.

Muppet anarchy is an especially ugly variant, as opposed to the slightly lesser vicious but somewhat mind-numbing fraggle anarchy, or the fairly benign and slightly educational for the impared sesame street anarchy, though nothing compared to the noxious stank-hell of teletubby anarchy.

One prominent atrocity was the practice of "Binksing" one's enemies, which consisted of taping their eyes open while forcing them to watch The Phantom Manace on replay loop.

It really annoyed me too when Clinton made that dishonest and cheap attack on Obama. She knows damn well he would never meet with some dictator and get used in a publicity stunt. For one thing, a President is surrounded by advisors. His "inexperience" wouldn't be a factor there (if anywhere). So, yet again, we see her lying.

Yeah I had some fun with the latter-part Clinton graphics largely due to that happening.

Even the contract gnomes were having a good time with it despite the fact that I had to beat them occasionally to get the video out the door.

Yes, but I in the case of the minutes, I only estimated seconds used as I re-watched, I couldn't be bothered to get a stopwatch (this took too long as it was).

The questions are definitely real, although you could debate what counted as a question. I'd need my notes for all details, but one example I did not count the last question, since it was a lame/light/uniform wrap-up type thing.

One thing I found odd/surprising about them using the jokes in the debate was that you would think that YouTube would be trying to make itself seem more credible, and it made the whole situation seem a bit silly. I've got mixed feelings about that.
