The driver that went over the wall in the footage of the 1958 race was not killed. Prior to that moment, Pat O'Connor can be seen rolling over another car on the left edge of the screen, Pat died of his injuries in the care center and was pronounced by Tom Hanna, the track Doctor. We did not transport Pat to Methodist as his injuries were not survivable. Many continue to blame this crash on Ed Eliason who was the first car visably in trouble.
To call this imbecile an idiot is a severe insult to idiots the world over. He is many levels below an idiot, and I would like to slap the shit out of him if he were here.
is some wonderful vintage Indianapolis Motor Speedway footage. The announcer is an utter abomination and embarrassment. Absolutely no knowledge of drivers, dates or circumstances. In my opinion, he is better suited to commenting on professional wrestling or perhaps local traffic.
up over the retaining wall!!! wow that is funny considering this was a fatal accident. awesome! this guy should be kicked in his teeth. he can't even name the drivers. "this guy flies over the top of another car!"
look at this footage. do you honestly think they have been running in the 220's since 1911? No one qualified at 200 mph until tom sneva in 1977. so at the time of this footage the commentator is right on the truth.
I signed up for YouTube just now to specifically tell you never to do this again. I just turned the sound off because it sounded bad, and you obviously had no clue what was happening.
were you reporting on the HINDENBERG as well? please stop pointing out the obvious we don't need a southern accent to figure out these accidents were caused by speed and spin.
this video is evidence that people have nothing better to do while on the crapper than narrate a video and not have a clue who they are talking about. no names dates no info leave the narrating to the pros...........please
LOL @the announcer

It was Jerry Unser that went over the wall wasn't it?

Yeah it was. I believe he died the next year in a crash.

You are correct, it was Jerry who left the track but suffered only minor injuries from that ride.

Try 220. You'll at least be closer to the truth.
