  • I remember watching this live on the mtv awards... what a voice!

  • I like Levis Original , but she Rocks the hell out of it, Great job Pat, Dynamite....

  • Wow that is some serious hair. Tina Turner is missing a wig!! I do love it though. I cannot help it. Thanks for posting this. I have never heard her live version of this or seen this video.

  • WOW!!! Thanks for posting, I hadn't seen this since it originaly aired!

  • Whoah!

Or should I say Pat Turner!

  • This is Fantastic! Pat covers Four Tops Beautifully!!!!

  • Here we are on my journey and will you see it through to the end with me or will you run? Sometimes I want to run but God has seen me through most of my battles and still I run but not anymore my friends have taught me to fight and fight I will till I win

  • OK, you're entitled to your opinion. I love blonie's music, as well as Pat's. I just feel comparing the two vocally is sorta like comparing Brittney to Barbara Streisand.

    Different leagues.

  • Well, comparing Debbie to Britney is a very low blow. Even if you think Benatar is better than Debbie you could at least say she's some kind of Benatar to Streisand. Britney can't even properly sing, for God's sake, whereas Debbie was one of the greatest female voices in rock. Now, if one wants to talk about vocal beauty, range and perfect technique, let's say that Annie Lennox could easily send both Debbie and Pat back to their studies.

  • Pat out Gagas Lady Gaga .

Awsome voice but she needs to work with some great song writers and release a new album.

  • Pat is better than Gaga and it's so obvious that it's sad we even have to write it. Sad time for music.

  • I know Lady Gaga is all smoke and mirrors there is only one reason she wears outrages outfits and is forever touching herself in her vidoes . It is to distract from the fact she is not that Good.

The gaga comment I made I was referring to pats Wig . LOL . I too love Debbie but ya can't compare the two . Debbie is more Jazz pop punk vocal . Pat has a very unusual voice with an amazing range .The only one who is like her nowdays is Anastacia who can sing Rock/pop/soul and hit high notes as well .

  • I guess the only reason we started comparing is because Blondie and Pat both covered "Seven Rooms". Otherwise, totally different types of music and of voices.

  • You can't even put Debbie Harry and Pat in the same category. Pat is a classically trained opera singer whose voice spans 4 octaves. Debbie Harry is a fun punk-pop singer. Love both but it's like apples and cucumbers--no comparison except they were both on the radio around the same time.

  • Actually, yes, you can compare. I'm a complete opera buff, I sing opera myself, and I have to say that the 4 octave story is bogus. Even someone like Maria Callas didn't have 4 octaves, and she had a damn extended voice. Even the great Ewa Podles doesn't have 4 octaves. Actually, nobody has it really. Or it means they're using a falsetto voice (a technique women can also use), and it's not singing with your full voice, then.

  • @Kapellmeister35 Not knowing personally, I always read that Pat's range was 31/2 octaves.

  • Debbie Harry has a pretty good falsetto technique, especially now that her voice is much lower and she can't reach high notes with full voice anymore. She also has a naturally good technique (who knows, she may have trained her voice operatically at some point too if she had singing lessons, since it's the only real way to train it). She could do amazing things with her deep voice, things that Benatar couldn't have done as well because she didn't really have the notes, simply.

  • Benatar is a soprano or very light mezzo, from what I hear. Debbie is a deep mezzo, even contralto now, who could easily reach high soprano notes with full voice when she was 30. To me, Debbie's voice is also more beautiful and interesting, but that's my taste in voice. Now, respect to Pat, she's definitely a very good rock singer.

  • @Kapellmeister35 She's actually classically trained for opera. It was only until Harry Chapin saw her on LI doing pop standards and put her in his show "The Zephyr" that she began to sing rock and roll.

  • @ksim43 I know, and as a big opera fan, I'm not much impressed. I'm used to listening to Virginia Zeani, Leyla Gencer and Maria Callas, which is why I need a lot more to be impressed by somebody's singing technique. That's also why I know that there are some terrible opera singers with a terrible technique. Having said that, I must admit that PB is a very good singer.

  • I'm glad you all like it. I was happy to post it. All the other Pat fans seem to post rare stuff right before I post the same thing, and I don't want to be a copy cat. This is the only rare Pat video I was able to post and beat the other uploaders to the punch.

  • This song is raw, pat or any performer ..its old enough before they all lip synched on shows .. you can hear its raw and rocking, there are some hiccups but I freaking love this video thanks so much .. imperfections make it real not engineered like an album .. I dare alot of other singers to try to perrform this same way as pat in this one so long ago and put their real voice out there. This is really pats voice and its not juiced up and I love it!

  • Long live Patricia Mae Andrzejewski. She is the $hit! I love her. No.... I worship her! :-)

  • thats a talented woman

  • Myron Grombacher...fantastic!

  • Good call Loop,,,,He sure knows how to hit em.Dont he??

  • Nothing touches The Four Tops' original. That version is by far the best version out there

  • Blondie did a way better cover of this song. Pat Benatar is a much better technical singer than Deborah Harry but the Blondie version works much better. This sounds so forced. I think Pat was already looking for a different life by this point.

  • Not sure about the fact that Benatar is "technically better" than Debbie. Debbie surely was not operatically trained, but she had a damn good technique, and a voice that's much more difficult to control than Benatar's, because it's "longer" (Debbie's voice was way more extended than Benatar's, it could reach very high notes, and go deep down). I also think Debbie's voice is naturally bigger. Its colour is also more beautiful, imo.

  • You have no class at all, sir.

  • How can you call that voice shit. Her voice goes up and down the musical scale like a roller coaster....

  • Cool cover.

  • I remember this when it aired. I was so excited that she did this song. It was my favorite on Seven the hard way. I know Pat and Neil aren't very fond of this album, but I think it was awesome. Some really cool dark, and moody music. Pat always delivers.

  • Great performance from a REAL singer. Funny wig, though !

  • La reine du rock c'est Benatar.

  • Its from the 1985 VMAs. "Invincible" was out as single but the album and "Sex As A Weapon" weren't released yet. I was glad she did an obscure song and not one of her hits. She was the only one who sang live on the show that year.

  • @Tropico1 Thanks - I saw this when it first aired but I couldn't remember which program. I was thinking it was the Grammys. But I do remember being excited to see it, as I had the album and 7 rooms of Gloom was my favorite song on it.

  • WOW. Was there. Don't make me go back.

  • i prefer this to the 4 tops,

she sings with so much feeling.

  • Wow... how did they under rate, Seven and Gravitys Rainbow.

  • eat your heart out kylie & co.

  • I believe this performance was from the 1986 MTV awards. I remember when I saw this I was disappointed she didnt sing Invincible or Sex as a Weapon, but then I was glad because she was great. Seven The Hard Way is a great album. Thanks for posting it.

  • Best version ever, great dance song.
